Answer:	since it is a spring, it is variable only as problem in kinetic energy.

Answer:	It's hard to say the exact tension of the springs since they can loosen over time at random and are over all very stiff at first use. I'd say, but don't quote me, a long spring is about 15-20lbs of tension as reverse flys with one spring are comfortable while two are nearly unbearable, these coils have a lot of strong tension so I have to be careful. The hand grip springs are similar despite the size and shape difference. This is my own feeling so it can vary from person to person and exercises of choice.
