Answer:	I really don't know. Frankly, I must have missed a directive about the unit must be near the ceiling. I don't know any homes with outlets near the ceiling. My understanding was the outlet not be ground level to detect gas properly. I have an outlet about mid high on the wall. My understanding of direct plug into outlet is to prevent any other device failing in between or becoming unplugged. The only way the manufacturer can say his device works is to use it as designed. It is apparently necessary to guarantee direct current. L

Answer:	I have it next to my gas stove, it's fairly sensitive because sometimes I have to unplug it while I'm cooking because the alarm starts going off. I mostly wanted it in case my kids turn the stove knobs on and I don't know about it, it definitely detects the gas quickly when I've tested it.

Where should install the alarm

For the natural gas and town gas detection:

It should be installed in the room where a gas escape is most likely to occur, this may be the kitchen because of the presence of a gas cooker and other gas appliances.

It should be installed above the level of a possible gas escape and near the ceilling(typically 0.3m from the ceiling), in place where air movements are not impeded by furniture and furnishings.

For LPG detection:

It should be installed in the room where the most frequently used appliance is accommodated and where an escape is most likely to occur. In most domestic premises, this room may be the kitchen because of the presence of a gas cooker and possibly other gas appliances.

It should be mounted as slow as possible(typically 0.1m above the floor) and in place where air movements are not impeded by furniture.

How to test if it is work after received the product?

• While the detector enters the normal detection state, put a extinguished lighter near the hole of the detection area;
• 1-5 seconds later, the internal sensor of detector will detect it, when the concentration reaches the standard, it will alarm;
• After the lighter is removed, the alarm will stop as the concentration drops.

Where should the detector be installed?

• For natural gas, the detector shall be located in a position of 30cm under the ceiling and 1.5-4 meter(s) away from gas supply.
• For LPG, the detector shall be located in a position of 30 cm above the floor and 1.5-4 meter(s) away from gas supply.

-Every couple weeks, test your alarm with unlit butane from a cigarette lighter or propane source.

Answer:	from my knowledge this is the pre test procedure conducted by the device every time the power is lost either by pulling it out from the wall socket or if the electricity went off then returned back . If the device showed zero with only power green light it’s working fine .. later if it detect any accumulation of gas and in many cases other chemical odors it will elevated the zero to a higher numbers according to the intensity of the accumulated gas . I tested this device with gas, smoke , other different chemical odors , and it’s working perfect. I’m using it in 4 different kitchens for over a year now and i’m very satisfied. Hope this helps .

Answer:	I cannot say that I tested them under water, but they do not strike me as water resistant as they are mostly made out of cloth with silicone grafted on top (not fully covered/sealed). As for cuts and tears, they do seem like they would stand up to a reasonable amount of rough handling without getting snagged too much.
