2 best long term survival foods

Long-term survival foods are essential components of emergency preparedness and can help individuals and families sustain themselves during extended periods of crisis or disaster. These foods are designed to have a long shelf life, require minimal preparation, and provide essential nutrients to support human survival. Here are some key aspects to consider when it comes to long-term survival foods:

  1. Shelf Stability: Long-term survival foods are specifically manufactured and packaged to have an extended shelf life, often ranging from several years to several decades. This ensures they remain safe to consume even after an extended period of storage.

  2. Nutrient-Rich: These foods are formulated to provide a balanced mix of essential nutrients, including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. A variety of options are available, including freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, grains, legumes, and protein sources like meats or dairy.

  3. Packaging: Survival foods are typically sealed in airtight containers, such as Mylar bags or vacuum-sealed pouches, to prevent moisture and oxygen from deteriorating the quality of the food over time.

  4. Calorie Density: It's important that survival foods provide sufficient calories to sustain individuals during emergencies. The calorie content can vary depending on the specific product, so it's essential to calculate your calorie needs based on your circumstances.

  5. Ease of Preparation: In emergency situations, complex cooking or food preparation may not be feasible. Many long-term survival foods are designed to be easily prepared with minimal cooking equipment or even eaten directly from the packaging.

  6. Variety: A variety of food options is essential for maintaining morale and preventing food fatigue during extended emergencies. Look for survival food kits that offer a wide selection of meals and flavors.

  7. Storage Conditions: Proper storage is crucial to maintain the integrity of long-term survival foods. They should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and temperature extremes. Some foods may require additional protection from rodents and pests.

  8. Dietary Restrictions: Consider any dietary restrictions or allergies when selecting survival foods. Many manufacturers offer options that cater to specific dietary needs, such as gluten-free or vegetarian.

  9. Expiration Dates: While long-term survival foods have extended shelf lives, it's essential to periodically check for expiration dates and rotate your stock to ensure you always have fresh supplies on hand.

  10. Cost Considerations: Investing in long-term survival foods can be cost-effective in the long run, but it's important to balance your budget with your preparedness needs. You can gradually build up your emergency food supply over time.

Long-term survival foods are a critical component of emergency preparedness and can provide peace of mind in uncertain situations. Be sure to carefully research and select foods that align with your dietary preferences, storage capabilities, and anticipated emergency scenarios.

User questions & answers

Question: Country of origin
Answer: The pack my son just received expires in August 2023.
Question: I'm a type 2 diabetic are the carbs simple and what is the sugar content? Also what is the freshness date of the ones you are selling
Answer: Each pack is 9 bars of 400 calories each--which is considered the equivalent of a 3-day supply. Of course, 1200 calories per day is not very much, but would certainly keep you alive.
Question: are these individually wrapped, so that when you open the bag you don't expose all of them to air
Answer: They taste faintly like lemon bars but not as overpowering.
Question: I don't get it, they're not calorically dense. how are these different from regular vitamims
Answer: I'm uncertain whether the food itself originates from the USA or not since food literally comes from all over the world nowadays depending on what it is. However, the package or bucket definitely does not ship from China as the other reply suggested since it literally arrived at my front porch within 4 days. Even my HP laptop took longer than that to be delivered and it certainly was made in and shipped from China LOL.
