Many people including myself have received this product with one of the two packages already opened. Both products have a five year shelf life.

Answer:	Yes. It's a valid food source, but you will still be hungry. It's a nutritional source to keep you alive until you can find other foods, be rescued, get help, etc. The bars are packed with calories, and have a sort of lemon/coconut flavor. We had these on our aircraft as survival food when I flew with the US Navy. In other words, these bars won't fill you up like a full meal, but will give you energy and calories to survive. i have these in a small emergency kit in my car, as well as a larger survival kit in my house.

Answer:	The ration bars are very dense and hold some weight, so maybe just throw a couple bars in your pack but you won't be ultralight if you humping around all 12 bars.

Answer:	It all depends on your calorie intake. Which, in turn, depends on your gender, metabolism, weight, and amount of physical activity. FDA guidelines are "2,600 and 2,000 kcal (10,900 and 8,400 kJ) for men and women (respectively) between 31 and 35, at a physical activity level equivalent to walking about 2 to 5 km (1 1⁄2 to 3 mi) per day at 5 to 6 km/h (3 to 4 mph) in addition to the light physical activity associated with typical day-to-day life". On the other hand, someone waiting for a rescue in a lifeboat (which is what these rations are intended for) doesn't really perform much if any physical activity, and so it may be possible to get by on a 1200 calorie diet, and stretch one brick to 3 full days.

Answer:	the ones I just received were produced in 09/14 which is printed on the bag and the expiration date of 08/19 is also printed on the bag

Answer:	5, 3600 Cal packs of 9, 400 Cal bars. Each bar is rolled in a sheet of celophane type plastic. They are not water tight, so yeah, you have to eat them once you open the outer pack. I just opened on from five years ago. Couldn't pull the slippery sides apart so I had to use a blade. These are just fine and hard as a rock, but you can break them up by hand. Bare minimum emergency food.

Answer:	We tried them out not long ago for a hiking trip and to share with the 4H club. They aren't really chewy and definitely not hard at all. The little "cookies" are packaged in individual plastic wrapping inside the vacuum sealed outer layer. Be careful when you open the individual "cookies" because they are fairly soft and quite crumbly. They taste great! Just make sure to chew thoroughly and have some water handy.

Question:	Are these dairy-free, by any chance
Answer:	if you're hydrating or hydrated with it, it helps. I bought these to test out for my bugout bag and decided to bring them to college with me. I found I could eat the bar most times and not necessarily be hungry but usually left feeling unsatisfied. These are honestly just empty calories. In saying that, they will give your body calories to burn, but i wouldnt rely on them alone unless you had to :)
Question:	Does this have tree nuts or peanuts...it is not listed on the label
Answer:	Likely not, as the temperature range for food storage like this is "a cool dry dark place" and the dark part, can surely be found in a car, but the temperature in a car can reach something like 190 fahrenheit, so it will last much less time. You could however, find a good insulated storage case, that could lower the transmission of heat, and try testing that. though i have no idea, if they make something meant to store food in a car.
Question:	Can you tell me the allergen info of these bars
Answer:	I can't speak for the supply at Amazon or the other vendors. but I know mine are dated within the last 30-45 Days. I order from them bi-weekly. I think they have 11-18 on them, maybe 12-18. Please don't order just one from though the cost of shipping for it is 6.35 so I lose money on the order. 3-5 helps a ton.
Question:	are these chewy, soft, hard or somewhere in the middle
Answer:	for the ones I got there was no inner bag at all just the aluminum vacuumed bag they come in long sticks not blocks or cubes so be careful with the main bag and add a ziplock 1 big or a few smaller, keeping then dry would be the key thing I suspect they wpild be fine for a few weeks or more once opened they are a solid cookie like form but not overly hard not alot of flavor too them. your best bet is to squirrel away some other foods and drinks that you can mix with water to make eating more hopeful.

Answer:	Some pouches have 4 servings some have 8. I just finished eating the hearty chicken and rice and all i had to do was add salt after they were cooked. I keep 3 separate buckets in the house for Hurricane season here in Florida and 4 5 gallon of the empty food buckets to fill up with filtered water and I am set. They boast a 20 year shelf life. The one I just ate has been in my kitchen for over 3 years. Just make sure you have salt or some kind of seasoning to add to them.

Answer:	The bags are not resealable that being said they are Mylar bags so you can heat seal them if you need to.

So anyone saying that opening the bucket lid lowers the shelf life to 1 year is lying.

However, the package or bucket definitely does not ship from China as the other reply suggested since it literally arrived at my front porch within 4 days. Even my HP laptop took longer than that to be delivered and it certainly was made in and shipped from China LOL.
