12 best demand hot water heater ga
A demand hot water heater, also known as a tankless water heater or on-demand water heater, is a type of water heating system designed to provide hot water as needed, without the need for a storage tank. Here's what you should know about demand hot water heaters:
Tankless Design: Unlike traditional water heaters that store and continuously heat a large quantity of water, demand hot water heaters heat water only when it is needed. This design eliminates the need for a storage tank, saving space and reducing standby energy losses.
Energy Efficiency: Demand hot water heaters are known for their energy efficiency. They operate only when hot water is required, reducing energy consumption and energy costs compared to tank-based systems.
Endless Hot Water: Because they heat water on-demand, these heaters can provide a continuous supply of hot water. This is particularly useful for households with high hot water demands, such as large families or homes with multiple bathrooms.
Fuel Sources: Demand hot water heaters can be powered by electricity, natural gas, propane, or even solar energy, depending on the model and available energy sources.
Flow Rate: The flow rate, measured in gallons per minute (GPM), determines how much hot water a tankless heater can provide at any given moment. The flow rate varies among models and is a crucial factor to consider when choosing a unit to meet your household's needs.
Temperature Control: Most demand hot water heaters allow users to set their desired water temperature. This feature provides precise control over water temperature and helps prevent scalding.
Compact Size: Tankless water heaters are typically much smaller and more compact than traditional tank-based units, making them suitable for installation in tight spaces, such as closets or utility rooms.
Installation Requirements: Proper installation is critical for the performance of a demand hot water heater. They may require specific venting, gas lines, or electrical connections depending on the model and fuel source.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is necessary to ensure the longevity and efficiency of tankless water heaters. This may include flushing the unit to remove mineral deposits and checking for any clogs or blockages.
Initial Cost: While demand hot water heaters can be more expensive upfront than traditional tank-based models, the energy savings over time can offset the initial investment.
Environmental Benefits: Tankless water heaters are considered more environmentally friendly due to their energy efficiency and reduced standby heat loss.
In summary, a demand hot water heater is an energy-efficient and space-saving option for providing hot water on demand in homes and other buildings. They offer continuous hot water, precise temperature control, and can be powered by various energy sources, making them a popular choice for those looking to upgrade their water heating system.

User questions & answers
Question: | What does the temperature heat up to and for how long? Does The water temperature heat up based upon the actual temperature of the water coming out t |
Answer: | We have ours set on 115, and it will hold that as long as there is water and gas |
Question: | what is BTU rating, is there and altitude restriction on this unit |
Answer: | 35,000 btus and there was no altitude restrictions on the info that came with the unit. |
Question: | Does this model have freeze protection for use in colder climates |
Answer: | Michele, yes, you DO need freeze protection! Without this feature, there is always water in the heat exchanger, and the low volume of water to high surface contact means this heater is more suceptable to damage than a tanked version which has a "cushion" of water to survive mild frosting, not deep freezes. Ronald, thanks! That makes me feel better, as we snow camp in the mountains at times where it warms up to 24 degrees by noon. 👍 |
Question: | Does it work on both electric and propane |
Answer: | No, this is only run on propane. It doesn’t use much though. It’s very efficient. |
Product description
This Smart Technology electric tankless water heater is configured as a "whole home" model for climates where incoming water temperature is 67°F and above. This model is well suited for heating up to 2-Gallon per minute, which is the equivalent of one shower head (with a 1.5 gpm flow) and one sink with a low inlet water temperature of 67°F and an output setting of 105°F. Digital Temperature Control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1 Degree. This model can also be used in colder climates as a Point of Use for a sink or other low flow application. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. So if used in a cold area requiring a high temperature rise, it will be more limited in the amount of fixtures (gallons per minute) it can heat at one time compared to a warmer climate. When sized properly this water heater will provide endless hot water and only consume the energy needed, giving the user complete control. Prior to purchase and installation please verify this model is the right size for the expected demand and electrical requirements. The ECO 11 requires a minimum 125 amp electrical panel for installation with 60 amp double pole breaker connected to set of #6 awg wire. Plumbing connections are 1/2" compression fitting with the option of 1/2" NPT adapter included. For additional assistance please feel free to contact our support center at 877-474-6473.
NOTE : 11Kw at 220 is equal to 13kw at 240. .Activation Flow : 0.3 GPM

User questions & answers
Question: | Ours has only been in service for less than a year - will not adjust temperature to anything above 85 Deg. F. What do you think is the problem ? kds |
Answer: | My only guess is that the rheostat (variable resistor) that the temperature adjustment knob is attached to may be faulty. If that isn't it then I don't know. Sorry. |
Question: | The warrenty says that this unit must be installed by a licensed electrician and plumber, for them to honor the "life time warrenty." why |
Answer: | Hello Bob, The reason is the same as why an innumerable number of gadgets around the world have that little "warranty void if removed" label. Because getting inside of one requires a certain level of training and expertise. Same with this unit. GadgetsGo is an authorized Ecosmart dealer. Kind regards,HenryGadgetsGo |
Question: | My house is wired 110V. What additional items do I need to purchase for the conversion |
Answer: | Just to expand slightly on prior answers, normally a residential service feed is 240 volts between the two incoming hot legs. There is also a neutral leg, which (hopefully) has zero potential with reference to ground. The voltage between either one of the hot legs and the neutral leg is 120 volts. The 120 volt circuits in your house are connected to one or the other of the two hot legs, and only one. An attempt is made to assign circuits to the two hot legs in a way that will roughly balance the load between them. The other side of a 120 volt circuit is connected to the neutral leg. There is additionally a safety ground run with the circuit, which also ties into the panel. Certain devices require more power (work product of current and voltage) than is practical to deliver using a 120 volt circuit. Common examples are your clothes dryer, and your electric stove. These devices are powered by both hot legs, with a difference in potential of 240 volts. This water heater is also such a device.STRONG BUT FRIENDLY WARNING: If you did not already know this, please don't make wiring this water heater your learning opportunity with electricity. Hire someone who knows how to do it right. Cutting corners, especially with higher currents and voltages, can lead to equipment damage, fire, and electrocution. Electricity is not magic, and you can certainly learn how to do many common wiring tasks safely on your own, but today is not the day to begin that journey. You need properly sized components, properly installed, and connected to an adequate service. Also, if you really, really foul up, you could conceivably wind up making that morning shower more energizing than you ever imagined, if you get what I mean. So newly aspiring electricians should go fix their grandmother's favorite table lamp instead. Once they have that working they can use it to to start reading books about electricity, residential wiring, and eventually, books about this stuff: http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_8?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=nec+code&sprefix=nec+code%2Caps%2C164 . Of course, you still have to know not to nick conductors when you strip them, and other trade craft like that ; ) . Like almost everything in life that is fun, electricity will hurt you. Sort of like all those people you dated for a while, and then wished later you had never met. |
Question: | what amp breaker is required |
Answer: | The National Electrical Code requires conductors and overcurrent protection to be sized at 100% of the manufacturer's branch circuit recommendation for tankless electric water heaters. A 60 amp breaker is the same price as a 40 or 50, it is the wire that costs more. #6 AWG wire is required for a 60 amp circuit. If you undersize the wire it could overheat and catch fire. Protect your family and follow the manufacturer's sizing for this, or any other, electrical device. Your family's lives are worth the extra money. |

3 Smart Steps for Endless Hot Water
Step 1: Determining your average inlet water temperature is important, this allows you to determine how well your unit will perform in your desired location. A lower inlet water temperature will require a higher kilowatt product.
Step 2: Next you will determine how many applications your unit can run simultaneously at your chosen location inlet water temperature. Tankless electric water heaters are sized for maximum simultaneous use, not maximum fixtures in your home.
Step 3: Determining specifications and electrical infrastructure is important because without the correct infrastructure your unit may not fit into your breaker panel.

User questions & answers
Question: | which models are "condensing" units, please |
Answer: | I don’t know. But I suggest u look for a different brand. It already failed twice in less than a year and their warranty is a scam. They provide the parts which are pennies and leave out labor. |
Question: | How does it effect the water pressure, will it change |
Answer: | It does not effect my water pressure at all. I’ve had it for over a year now |
Question: | My existing water heater is located next to and shares a flue with the furnace. Can I hook the same way on this |
Answer: | Hold up there, previous answer, not so fast. It is true that you should not have both the hot water heater and furnace venting directly into the flue, combining the exhaust. However, some people see their vent pipes entering the flue (or chimney wall) and assume they are both releasing the fumes inside the chimney. In some cases, the venting pipes continue separately up the flue. Joseph, if you have two vent pipes entering your flue, there is a chance that both pipes continue separately up the flue and out the top. If that is the case, you may be able to use the existing hot water vent system. When you look at the top of your chimney, do you see two terminations coming out? |
Question: | How does very cold intake water affect performance |
Answer: | Sorry to contradict but the temperature of the water going into the water heater will definitely have an effect on the temperature of the water coming out. the water heater needs to provide enough BTUs to heat the volume of water that you need to the water temperature that you want. If the water starts off at a lower temperature it will take more BTUs to get it to the temperature you want. This unit claims to be able to provide 6.6 gallons of hot water per minute but that assumes the water is startling an average temperature. If you have a modern shower head it will only use about 2.5 GPM but if you have second shower going, a hot water faucet open or a clothes washer filling at the same time you will run out of capacity quickly. Rinnai should have tables on their website that shows the ability of the unit to heat water at a variety of starting temperatures to a range of hot water temperatures at a given flow rate. |

Question: | We have a 500sq' apt. 1 kitchen sink, 1 lav sink and tub/shower. This tankless heats water to both sinks but nothing to the tub/sh. Help |
Answer: | Sinks have aerators to slow down the water where a tub doesn't. It sounds like one possibility is that your exceeding the GPM for this heater. Next possibility, double check an measure your actually getting at least 240v at the heater, I had an issue where my unit was only getting 235v an it was causing a similar issue where only one of the two heating elements was activating. I had it set to 125F but it was coming out 100F. It was warm and without a meter I would of thought it was working correctly until I tried filling a tub. It couldn't even get the water warm. I pulled my wires out an restripped an cut an screwed them in an it fixed my problem, now its measuring around 245v. Make sure there is no copper showing after screwing down your input wires. Now filling the tub I noticed after about 10-15 seconds the water gets too hot to touch. I set it to 135F. |
Question: | Do these tankless water heaters require an overflow line to the outside of the home or a pan like is required on normal water heaters |
Answer: | No tank, so, no overflow line required. It mounts on the wall. A pan is needed if required by building code in your city. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it necessary to connect an expansion tank to this heater (for safety purposes)? It states something to that effect in the user manual |
Answer: | The expansion tank for this heater is not required. Most people already have these installed in their homes but if not then it would be Ok without it as there is a pressure relief valve on top if something happened. GlobalTowne is an authorized Bosch distributor. |
Question: | would this be able to supply a shower |
Answer: | A standard flow shower head is around 2.5 gallons per minute. A low flow head is around 1.5 gallons per minute. The recovery rate for a 90 degree temperature rise is 6.8 gallons per hour! So even the 7.5 gallon unit would only provide 4 minutes of shower time before the temp dropped off dramatically. (even at the low flow rate..) |
Question: | Can be used "in-line with a large hot water source"? Would it help a large bathtub that runs out of hot water before it gets full from main tank |
Answer: | If your bathtub is bigger than your main heater tank, this unit isn't going to do much for you. It will add 2.5, 4, or 7 gallons to the capacity of your main tank, depending on which Bosch unit you buy. The 7 gallon unit requires a specially wired circuit. You will also get a little bit of lukewarm water that was in the line between your main heater and the Bosch unit. Unless your main tank is awfully small and your bathtub massive, the 4 gallon unit should work for you. Maybe a demand type thankless heater in your bathtub hot water feed would be a better choice, but be careful to size it properly for your desired flow rate and temperature rise. Also a tankless is likely to require special wiring. |
Question: | When this heater is connected to the hot water line, what happens with the cold water that was sitting in the pipes |
Answer: | When the tap is opened, the hot water in the unit flows out. The colder water that was sitting upstream of the unit, enters the unit to be heated. If the tap remains open, the newly heated water flows out, being replaced eventually, (depending on the distance to the main water heater), with the water from the main water heater. You will probably set the unit temperature to equal the main water heater temperature, if you want to keep a constant temperature, but other scenarios are possible. |

Minimize Wait Time for Hot Water
Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from a primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money. To get hot water where it’s needed, when it’s needed, a better solution is to use the Tronic 3000 T from Bosch: a point-of-use electric mini-tank heater. This heater can supplement a primary water heating source, or be used under a single sink. In fact, the Bosch Tronic 3000 T can be used for three different applications: as a sole water heating source for a single sink, as a supplement to an existing heater located far from the sink, and as a buffer installed in-line with tankless water heaters that experience intermittent cold water, also known as 'cold water sandwiching'. No matter the configuration, there’s minimal stand-by loss from this premium mini-tank water heater.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the temperature output be adjusted to 105F |
Answer: | Most rinnai tankless weather it is out door or indoor, have a control board to adjust temp and either on or off |
Question: | Can I use the Rinnai V65EP in Denver, Co? Temperatures during the winter can get below zero |
Answer: | It can definately be out doors in freezing temps, tho power failure arent good for it while in a freeze, tho keep in mind it will use alot more energy for frost protection, indoor units are safer amd more efficient in this case |
Question: | Does this unit come with controller? rinnai tech said i needed a mc-91-2us controller? do i need to buy separate |
Answer: | I bought model V65EN. It came with a wired digital controller. The installer did not run the wire into the house and mount the controller indoors. He simply set the controller at 120 degrees and left the controller inside the unit. If I want to change the temp, I have to take the cover of the unit. |
Question: | What does the "Low NOx Mean |
Answer: | Good place to check for info like this is Wikipedia. Here is what they say: Energy efficiencieseditMore tangible cost savings are defined when comparing the energy efficiencies of gas heaters with low NOx emissions with conventional flued types. Gas heaters with emission problems are flued and inherently lose substantial energies in the form of hot flue gases to the atmosphere. In addition, the choice of placement of flued heaters is greatly impaired due to flue installation restrictions. In contrast, dedicated low emission gas heaters do not require a flue system. Furthermore, with the introduction of oxygen depletion sensors and thermostatic controls, they do not place critical reliance on ventilation as previously was the case. These heaters can be positioned more conveniently and centralised to affect optimum warm air distribution. By definition unflued low NOx gas heaters are 100% efficient as all heat energy released from the flame is converted to useful heat.Hope this helps. June |
