Answer: | Installed at the outlet of the water heater, mainly to prevent electric shock, which is the second layer of protection |
Question: | Can be used "in-line with a large hot water source"? Would it help a large bathtub that runs out of hot water before it gets full from main tank |

Minimize Wait Time for Hot Water
Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from a primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money. To get hot water where it’s needed, when it’s needed, a better solution is to use the Tronic 3000 T from Bosch: a point-of-use electric mini-tank heater. This heater can supplement a primary water heating source, or be used under a single sink. In fact, the Bosch Tronic 3000 T can be used for three different applications: as a sole water heating source for a single sink, as a supplement to an existing heater located far from the sink, and as a buffer installed in-line with tankless water heaters that experience intermittent cold water, also known as 'cold water sandwiching'. No matter the configuration, there’s minimal stand-by loss from this premium mini-tank water heater.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the recovery time if the 7 gallons of hot water is used |
Answer: | I have the 4 gallon tank and it is not too bad for the reheat |
Question: | Can I reduce the pipe's size from 3/4 in to 1/2 in without any negative effect on the unit |
Answer: | No harm to unit.....Max water flow will be reduced a little. |
Question: | Can i use this to replace a small rv hot water heater |
Answer: | Yes, but realize that it's electric and draws quite a few amps, most rv water heaters are propane. |
Question: | The Manual request for the ES8 a 20 Amp breaker and 12GA wire. The wattage however is 1440 with 12 Amps. Why then 20 Amp breaker and not |
Answer: | I would use a 20 amp circuit with 12 ga wire but there are no inrush concerns with a resistive load. A heating element does not have a higher initial current draw like a motor. It draws 1440 watts or 12 amps at 120v. Since 14 ga wire must be fused for 15 amps, this device by itself is already at 80% of the circuit’s capacity. |

User questions & answers
Question: | which models are "condensing" units, please |
Answer: | I don’t know. But I suggest u look for a different brand. It already failed twice in less than a year and their warranty is a scam. They provide the parts which are pennies and leave out labor. |
Question: | How does it effect the water pressure, will it change |
Answer: | It does not effect my water pressure at all. I’ve had it for over a year now |
Question: | My existing water heater is located next to and shares a flue with the furnace. Can I hook the same way on this |
Answer: | Hold up there, previous answer, not so fast. It is true that you should not have both the hot water heater and furnace venting directly into the flue, combining the exhaust. However, some people see their vent pipes entering the flue (or chimney wall) and assume they are both releasing the fumes inside the chimney. In some cases, the venting pipes continue separately up the flue. Joseph, if you have two vent pipes entering your flue, there is a chance that both pipes continue separately up the flue and out the top. If that is the case, you may be able to use the existing hot water vent system. When you look at the top of your chimney, do you see two terminations coming out? |
Question: | How does very cold intake water affect performance |
Answer: | Sorry to contradict but the temperature of the water going into the water heater will definitely have an effect on the temperature of the water coming out. the water heater needs to provide enough BTUs to heat the volume of water that you need to the water temperature that you want. If the water starts off at a lower temperature it will take more BTUs to get it to the temperature you want. This unit claims to be able to provide 6.6 gallons of hot water per minute but that assumes the water is startling an average temperature. If you have a modern shower head it will only use about 2.5 GPM but if you have second shower going, a hot water faucet open or a clothes washer filling at the same time you will run out of capacity quickly. Rinnai should have tables on their website that shows the ability of the unit to heat water at a variety of starting temperatures to a range of hot water temperatures at a given flow rate. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this item here the US3. I need the 120volt unit |
Answer: | No, the 120V unit is the 3.2 KW unit and is the Bosch Tronic 3000 US3. GlobalTowne is an Authroized Bosch Distributor. |
Question: | On the 9.5k model. At what flow rate does it turn on |
Answer: | not sure when it actually turns on, but I usually ran it at about 1.1 gallons per minute. Sometimes, if the cold water was running or the toilet was flushing, the water flow was not fast enough to turn it on. |
Question: | Could two of these connected in series provide a higher gpm rate? (my winter water temp is often below 40f. looking to get a little over 2gpm |
Answer: | No, The Bosch electric tankless water heaters cannot be fed into one another, Max temperature into the unit is 86 degrees F. For good hot water at 2 gpm I would suggest the high KW unit Bosch Tronic 6000C WH17. This unit is a 17KW unit and requires 2 - double pole 40 amp breakers with 8 gauge wire. GlobalTowne is an Authorized Bosch Distributor. |
Question: | The 12kw unit specs from bosch recommend 6 gauge wire. is it safe to use 8 or 10 gauge wire |
Answer: | 8 or 10 gauge wire will not be heavy enough for the Bosch US12 as it is a 12 KW unit and requires 6 gauge wire. GlobalTowne is an Authorized Bosch Distributor. |

Reliable Point-of-Use Heat
Provides hot water with electrical power at the sink where you need it, so you don’t waste time or water waiting, and is backed by a limited 5-year warranty on the heating element and 1-year limited warranty on other components.
Save Energy and Money
Because water is heated directly without the use of a storage tank, there’s no standby energy loss experienced by traditional tank heaters, and no pressure or relief valve is required.
Great for Small Spaces
These tankless heaters are compact and lightweight and can be mounted vertically or horizontally (except model US12) – featuring an understated design to blend in seamlessly with existing decor.
The Benefits of Going Tankless
Waiting for hot water at a sink located far from the primary heating source can be frustrating. Only having access to cold water from a sink is just not useful, and plumbing a hot water line to every sink in a home or business requires time and money. To get hot water where it’s needed, when it’s needed, a better solution is to install the Tronic 3000 from Bosch: a point-of-use electric tankless water heater. Tankless heaters are a great energy saving option – and when you save energy, you save money! In addition, the Tronic 3000 takes up far less space than a traditional heater, and can be wall mounted right under the sink, taking up practically zero space in your home. Because they run on your home’s electricity and don’t hold water, less overall maintenance is required. With less wait for water, savings of energy (and therefore money!) and less space, the benefits of choosing tankless heaters for your home or business are obvious.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be mounted horizontal |
Answer: | How long does it take to heat the water when turned on? |
Question: | When we went to connect the water connector tube to the red ring hot water outlet it would not fit. There was a red tub in the outlet that prevented t |
Answer: | Yes, you are correct, one of the units I installed had the same issue with the red plastic fitting liner protruding, and it cannot be pushed in or removed. I solved the problem by filing the plastic down to just above the metal pipe. Make sure to keep it level and remove burrs. Another fix would be to use standard pipe fittings such as putting a street ell on the tank nipple then connecting your flex hose to that - use brass or stainless fittings and pipe dope. |
Question: | Has anyone used a t-valve to hook this to their toilet inlet line? I'd like to split the toilet line, install this, then attach my sprayer bidet |
Answer: | Yes you can, but you know, you can buy a bidet with a water on demand heater built in it ! much better and you are not reheating 2.5 gals of water after each use. Check on Amazon or Wish for a bidet, it is not expensive . |
Question: | Does it need its own breaker |
Answer: | Yes and no, it depends on where you are robbing the power from ,if it is from a circuit with very little use like bath wall outlets only ( like I did ) I would say no ,but if its from a circuit with heavy use, I would say yes, also what are you going to use the hot water for ? in my case, I use mine at the wash basin only so it is not heating continuously. . |

Product description
This Smart Technology electric tankless water heater is configured as a "whole home" model for climates where incoming water temperature is 67°F and above. This model is well suited for heating up to 2-Gallon per minute, which is the equivalent of one shower head (with a 1.5 gpm flow) and one sink with a low inlet water temperature of 67°F and an output setting of 105°F. Digital Temperature Control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1 Degree. This model can also be used in colder climates as a Point of Use for a sink or other low flow application. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. So if used in a cold area requiring a high temperature rise, it will be more limited in the amount of fixtures (gallons per minute) it can heat at one time compared to a warmer climate. When sized properly this water heater will provide endless hot water and only consume the energy needed, giving the user complete control. Prior to purchase and installation please verify this model is the right size for the expected demand and electrical requirements. The ECO 11 requires a minimum 125 amp electrical panel for installation with 60 amp double pole breaker connected to set of #6 awg wire. Plumbing connections are 1/2" compression fitting with the option of 1/2" NPT adapter included. For additional assistance please feel free to contact our support center at 877-474-6473.
NOTE : 11Kw at 220 is equal to 13kw at 240. .Activation Flow : 0.3 GPM

Answer: | My only guess is that the rheostat (variable resistor) that the temperature adjustment knob is attached to may be faulty. If that isn't it then I don't know. Sorry. |
Question: | The warrenty says that this unit must be installed by a licensed electrician and plumber, for them to honor the "life time warrenty." why |
Answer: | Hello Bob, The reason is the same as why an innumerable number of gadgets around the world have that little "warranty void if removed" label. Because getting inside of one requires a certain level of training and expertise. Same with this unit. GadgetsGo is an authorized Ecosmart dealer. Kind regards,HenryGadgetsGo |
Question: | My house is wired 110V. What additional items do I need to purchase for the conversion |
Answer: | Just to expand slightly on prior answers, normally a residential service feed is 240 volts between the two incoming hot legs. There is also a neutral leg, which (hopefully) has zero potential with reference to ground. The voltage between either one of the hot legs and the neutral leg is 120 volts. The 120 volt circuits in your house are connected to one or the other of the two hot legs, and only one. An attempt is made to assign circuits to the two hot legs in a way that will roughly balance the load between them. The other side of a 120 volt circuit is connected to the neutral leg. There is additionally a safety ground run with the circuit, which also ties into the panel. Certain devices require more power (work product of current and voltage) than is practical to deliver using a 120 volt circuit. Common examples are your clothes dryer, and your electric stove. These devices are powered by both hot legs, with a difference in potential of 240 volts. This water heater is also such a device.STRONG BUT FRIENDLY WARNING: If you did not already know this, please don't make wiring this water heater your learning opportunity with electricity. Hire someone who knows how to do it right. Cutting corners, especially with higher currents and voltages, can lead to equipment damage, fire, and electrocution. Electricity is not magic, and you can certainly learn how to do many common wiring tasks safely on your own, but today is not the day to begin that journey. You need properly sized components, properly installed, and connected to an adequate service. Also, if you really, really foul up, you could conceivably wind up making that morning shower more energizing than you ever imagined, if you get what I mean. So newly aspiring electricians should go fix their grandmother's favorite table lamp instead. Once they have that working they can use it to to start reading books about electricity, residential wiring, and eventually, books about this stuff: http://amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_8?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=nec+code&sprefix=nec+code%2Caps%2C164 . Of course, you still have to know not to nick conductors when you strip them, and other trade craft like that ; ) . Like almost everything in life that is fun, electricity will hurt you. Sort of like all those people you dated for a while, and then wished later you had never met. |
Question: | what amp breaker is required |
Answer: | The National Electrical Code requires conductors and overcurrent protection to be sized at 100% of the manufacturer's branch circuit recommendation for tankless electric water heaters. A 60 amp breaker is the same price as a 40 or 50, it is the wire that costs more. #6 AWG wire is required for a 60 amp circuit. If you undersize the wire it could overheat and catch fire. Protect your family and follow the manufacturer's sizing for this, or any other, electrical device. Your family's lives are worth the extra money. |

3 Smart Steps for Endless Hot Water
Step 1: Determining your average inlet water temperature is important, this allows you to determine how well your unit will perform in your desired location. A lower inlet water temperature will require a higher kilowatt product.
Step 2: Next you will determine how many applications your unit can run simultaneously at your chosen location inlet water temperature. Tankless electric water heaters are sized for maximum simultaneous use, not maximum fixtures in your home.
Step 3: Determining specifications and electrical infrastructure is important because without the correct infrastructure your unit may not fit into your breaker panel.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the temperature output be adjusted to 105F |
Answer: | Most rinnai tankless weather it is out door or indoor, have a control board to adjust temp and either on or off |
Question: | Can I use the Rinnai V65EP in Denver, Co? Temperatures during the winter can get below zero |
Answer: | It can definately be out doors in freezing temps, tho power failure arent good for it while in a freeze, tho keep in mind it will use alot more energy for frost protection, indoor units are safer amd more efficient in this case |
Question: | Does this unit come with controller? rinnai tech said i needed a mc-91-2us controller? do i need to buy separate |
Answer: | I bought model V65EN. It came with a wired digital controller. The installer did not run the wire into the house and mount the controller indoors. He simply set the controller at 120 degrees and left the controller inside the unit. If I want to change the temp, I have to take the cover of the unit. |
Question: | What does the "Low NOx Mean |
Answer: | Good place to check for info like this is Wikipedia. Here is what they say: Energy efficiencieseditMore tangible cost savings are defined when comparing the energy efficiencies of gas heaters with low NOx emissions with conventional flued types. Gas heaters with emission problems are flued and inherently lose substantial energies in the form of hot flue gases to the atmosphere. In addition, the choice of placement of flued heaters is greatly impaired due to flue installation restrictions. In contrast, dedicated low emission gas heaters do not require a flue system. Furthermore, with the introduction of oxygen depletion sensors and thermostatic controls, they do not place critical reliance on ventilation as previously was the case. These heaters can be positioned more conveniently and centralised to affect optimum warm air distribution. By definition unflued low NOx gas heaters are 100% efficient as all heat energy released from the flame is converted to useful heat.Hope this helps. June |

Product features
Bosch Tronic 6000 C
The electric whole house tankless water heaters can be installed virtually anywhere inside the home. These heaters don’t hold water to heat in a storage tank, making them a great space saving option. A typical water heater stands alone and requires up to 9 sq ft of space in a house, but this Bosch model is compact, and a professional can wall-mount the unit or even install it outdoors!
Hot Water On-Demand
Using electric power to heat water instantaneously, these tankless options provide hot water for 1-3 major applications at a time – you never have to worry about running out of hot water, even during peak use
Quality for Long-life
While traditional tank heaters can corrode and typically last 6-12 years, a Bosch tankless water heater can have an average life expectancy of 20+ years
You Control the Heat
Tronic Series water heaters are equipped with an electronic flow sensor and element modulation to control a consistent output temperature – new scale prevention technology lets you monitor temperature stability and control
Why Bosch Whole House?
Traditional water heaters lose, on average, about 20% of their heat up the flue and through the sidewalls, and to keep stored water hot, they must continuously cycle on and off, whether you are using hot water or not, making them costly as well as inefficient. A better solution for your hot water needs is the Bosch Tronic 6000 C Whole House Tankless Water Heater, which heats water instantaneously when you need it. These heaters are excellent for smaller dwellings where a traditional heater would take up too much space and use too much energy, such as office suites, garage apartments, and smaller homes. Bosch Tronic whole house electric water heaters work by means of a high-tech flow transducer with durable polymer encased elements. A professional must install the 6000 C model and the water lines must be copper or suitably rated stainless steel. Because the water heats up on-demand, plastic or PEX type plumbing line materials are not suitable for connecting directly to the water heater.

This Smart Technology electric tankless water heater is configured as a "whole home" model for climates where incoming water temperature is 62°F and above. The ECO 18 is capable of heating over 2.5 gallons per minute, which is the equivalent of one water saver shower head (with a 1.5 gpm flow) and one sink with a low inlet water temperature of 62°F, and an output setting of 105° F. Two showers emitting no more than 1.5 gpm each can be run simultaneously when incoming water temperature is above 70° F. Digital temperature control allows you to set your temperature in increments of 1°. All tankless water heaters are sized based on flow rate and temperature rise, and there is a direct relationship between the two. So if used in a cold area requiring a high temperature rise, it will be more limited in the amount of fixtures (gallons per minute) it can heat at one time compared to a warmer climate. However, when sized properly it will provide endless hot water and only consume the energy needed, giving the user complete control. Prior to purchase and installation please verify this model is the right size for the expected demand and electrical requirements. The ECO 18 requires a minimum 150 amp electrical panel for installation with 40 amp double pole breakers connected to sets of #8 awg wire. Plumbing connections are 3/4" NPT. For additional assistance please feel free to contact our support center at 877-474-6473.

User questions & answers
Question: | How do know which size to buy? We will supply two bathrooms, dish washer, clothes washer. What size should I choose |
Answer: | I noted someone below stating they got the largest one and they can only run one water source at a time. My guess is they installed it wrong by not getting the electric hooked up right, or maybe the unit was just defective, or they live in Alaska. I went under size with an Eco 27 a few years ago because that’s all my electric panel could handle. We have zero issues in the summer. During winter months we can only run one shower at a time and have to slowly fill a tub (maybe 3/4 fill speed). To save as much money as I am on electric bill and have unlimited shower lengths (only 1 person at a time mid-Dec to mid-March) is totally worth it. On here today because I’m thinking of upping my panel size so was thinking of going with a larger one now. Regardless, CCRC’s experience with the largest unit not working is nothing like the experience I’ve had, and again I intentionally undersized mine for the house. The website has a clear chart to explain size you need based on number of water fixtures in your home and ground water temperature. |
Question: | Can this unit supply a 3,700 sq foot home with 3 1/2 baths |
Answer: | In the lower states it can, but in the northern states, multiple simultaneous users, it will be overloaded. If you can afford a 3,700 square foot home, then you can place a unit in each appropriate demand zone and be very glad you did. I love mine, live in KY, get great supply when the water is above 60 degrees, and then it slows the flow as the temperature drops. I have dishwasher, washing machine, garden tube, 2 showers, 3 sinks and 4 people. It is better than great in the summer, okay spring and fall, and we are conservative in the winter. |
Question: | What is the power consumption of this tank-less heater |
Answer: | The instantaneous power consumption while the hot water is running is quite high (up to 18kW or 27kW depending on which model you’re looking at on this page). However, when no hot water is being used, the power consumption is 0 (or a minuscule amount to run an LED light or something). The total power consumption over the course of several days or longer should be much lower than a tank heater but the short term power usage while the heater is making hot water will be much higher than a tank heater. It’s just that the unit sits idle most of the time while a tank heater will use power fairly frequently even when no hot water is needed as the water in the tank cools off over time and needs to be re-heater fairly constantly |
Question: | remote |
Answer: | This unit does not have the ability to have a remote temperature control. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it come with isolation valves or do you have to order seperately |
Answer: | This model does come with isolation valves. Thanks |
Question: | Is warranty void automatically when buying this way? The warranty appears to be void if not purchased by an "authorized dealer |
Answer: | MyPlumbingStuff is an "Authorized RINNAI Online Reseller". Warranty is valid when purchased through us. |
Question: | Will this item work with propane |
Answer: | you would have to change the jets -read the specs-you should be able to order it for either natural gas or propane |
Question: | I just purchased a new house that has two of these units and it takes about a minute for water to heat, can that be sped up |
Answer: | Hi Jay, Understand that you have cold water in your pipes that has to be pushed through to your open faucet and discharged before the hot water can get to you. Your Rinnai instantly starts heating your water when you open the faucet but there is all that cold water in the way. The closer your faucet is to the unit the sooner you get the hot water. If you are concerned about water waste, use the cold water to start scrubbing your sink or tub and then rinse with the hot water when it purges the cold sitting there. Your Rinnai saves you a ton of money by being on demand so be patient. Brush you teeth in the cold so no waste also. It is a great unit! John and Joanne |
