User questions & answers

Question: can i mount a cast iron extension table for my router on the left side? I dont see any holes
Answer: Hey Jeffery.I looked under the table and what I see is that the table itself is an "egg crate" casting to give the table strength with relative weight savings. The edge of the table (left side) has been cast flat, or parallel, with the outside vertical surface i.e. it's not tapered. That is good news for you because it can be drilled. The flat surface on the inside will allow for a washer and nut to hold in place without slipping. The question of router table weight is the concern. If it were mine I would provide a support leg under the attached table, either plumbed vertical or diagonal back toward the base of the saw. good luck.
Question: Does the tablesaw come in one box? If not how many boxes and the respective dimensions please
Answer: It comes in several boxes stacked on a pallet. The wooden pallet is approximately 3.5 ft by 3.5 ft and it is stacked 4 ft tall. It is all wrapped together on the pallet with plastic wrap. The truck driver moves it around using a pallet jack.
Question: Are the trunnions cabinet mounted or table mounted
Answer: They do mount to the cabinet frame, but they actually look a lot like the table mounted trunnion brackets. They're an improvement from table mounted trunions, but are not the large industrial yoke style brackets that span from corner to corner of the cabinet that many of us associate with the term "cabinet mounted trunnions". Instead, they bolt to front and rear frame struts...very similar to the Jet Proshop system. You can view the exploded parts pictorial in the manual to get a better idea of the trunnion system.
Question: So which would be the best saw to buy: (other than cost) the pm1000 or the 64b? and why? i'm having a tough time deciding
Answer: I looked at the same comparison and chose the PM1000. Reasons: (1) Mass. The PM1000 weighs significantly more, and thus will have less vibration/undesired movement during use. (2) Trunnion mounting is reportedly more secure in PM1000 vs 64B. (3) Switch. The magnetic on/off switch of the PM1000 is much more readily accessed with a knee or a blind reach with a hand while keeping eyes on the work. (4) Dust collection. Appears to be much better with PM1000, as long as one has a decent dust collection plan/system. (5) Assembly. (Unsure about this one.) I’ve been told there’s much more assembly to be done with 64B than with PM1000.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the boxed saw unit in one piece? Can it be removed in pieces for transporting from the pallet to the basement
Answer: It’s in a few pieces, but the only way you’d get it into a basement is if you have four huge men to lift it. Otherwise- no.
Question: How many hp are available when plugged in 110v. can it work with 220v 2 phase? if so, how many hp is available this way
Answer: The saw I have is the Powermatic PM 1000 Table Saw 1.75HP, 1 PH @ 115V. Apparently it can be be rewired for 230V, with a 7A draw. I don't know the resulting HP. Tried to look it up just now, but couldn't satisfy myself that I was getting the right answer due to unknown variables about the motor. I run mine at 115V.
Question: Is it a left tilting blade
Answer: yes, the top of the blade goes left
Question: Can I plug this into any standard outlet
Answer: Yes, you can plug it into any standard 120v outlet.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the extension table solid wood, or a melamine cover
Answer: I researched the device thoroughly and always found it to be listed as a left hand tilt on any and all of the sources I used. I didn't buy it through Amazon. I bought it through Southern Tool. It's a great machine. Wish the dust collection was better but it's no worse than any other machine. The blade guard keeps the chips from flying while restricting the dust collector from reaching the top of the saw. There are many after market top of the table dust collection systems. WEAR A MASK with this and any other wood working tool.

Powermatic 1792000K Model PM 2000 3 Horsepower Cabinet Saw with 50-Inch Accu-Fence, 2 Cast Iron Extension Wings, Table Board, and Legs, 230-Volt 1 Phase

Powermatic

Based on 42 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Powered by a three-horsepower, one-Ph motor, the award winning Powermatic PM2000 10-Inch Cabinet Saw sets a new standard for innovation with an array of patented features and massive body design. It boasts the heaviest cast-iron base in its class to virtually eliminate table vibration, oversized cast-iron tables, and a push-button arbor lock that's conveniently accessible from above the tabletop.

Rugged Design for Smooth Operation

Designed with input from professional woodworkers, the PM2000 provides incredible quality, efficient functionality, and long-term durability.

Its refined heavy-duty trunnion mechanism features rigid, box-style cast-iron construction, high-end bearings, and a conical-shaped worm gear drive with an increased contact area to enhance the smooth, solid feel of the tilt and height adjustment.

A pair of oversized, eight-inch-diameter cast-iron hand wheels, each with a large spinner handle, makes blade height and bevel adjustments virtually effortless. And to prevent long-term use from loosening the hand wheels on their shafts, they are locked in place with machined grooves and keys rather than setscrews.

Precision Machined Arbor and Poly-V Drive Belt System

The full-length 5/8-inch diameter arbor is precision machined from stress-proof steel to exceptionally high tolerances for accuracy. It accepts stacked dado sets up to 13/16-inch wide, and because there is no gap between the threads and arbor shank, thin chippers won't hang out of line.

Also, the push-button arbor lock makes for rapid blade changes, while a high quality poly-V drive belt system transmits more power without slippage or excessive noise.

Generously Sized Tables and Extensions

All the high-luster, cast-iron surfaces are finely ground to ensure a smooth, mar-free work surface that provides more support for big jobs and have both a front- and rear-edge bevel for hassle-free work piece positioning.

Measuring approximately 30.5 x 22.0 inches (W x L), the primary cast-iron tabletop expands to 42 inches long when the standard cast-iron extension wings are bolted up, giving you plenty of space for even large work pieces.

Safe, Sturdy Design

The PM2000 also comes equipped with a newly designed magnetic On/Off switch for safety. To prevent accidental start-ups, there's a removable magnetic "key" that disables the switch when it's not in place. For additional protection against damage, a quick-release riving knife greatly reduces binding/kickback risk.

High-Tech Guard System

The PM2000's blade guard and riving knife system can be adjusted tool-free for the job at hand. At the same time, because the riving knife is mounted directly to the blade mechanism, the gap between it and the blade never changes during height or angle adjustments.

This maintains the safety a riving knife affords in virtually all cutting situations.

Get Accuracy and Precision

An industrial-duty 50-inch Accu-Fence System ensures accurate cuts. Adjustable angle indicators on the blade bevel scale for repeatable bevel cuts. Additionally, a heavy-duty, deluxe, micro-adjust miter gauge with a 13-inch extension fence ensures stable workpiece support and easy fine-angle adjustments.

Finally, to facilitate movement in and around the shop, the massive cast-iron base has a built-in retractable, four-wheel caster system.

The PM2000 measures 37 x 39 x 85 inches (W x H x D), weighs 675 pounds, and is backed by a five-year warranty.

Question: What is the actual base cabinet footprint
Answer: Looks like the $499.00 is a used one and the other one is new
Question: Why does it say this saw is $499.00 but upon clicking the picture it brings you to a saw that cost over
Answer: No, a lift gate is included with the order.
Question: Is a lift gate truck an extra cost
