3 best dual bevel sliding compound miter saw
A dual bevel sliding compound miter saw is a highly versatile power tool commonly used in woodworking, carpentry, and other construction-related tasks. It combines the features of a compound miter saw, which allows the blade to be tilted to create bevel cuts, and a sliding miter saw, which enables the saw head to slide back and forth, increasing its cutting capacity.
Key Features:
Dual Bevel Capability: Unlike standard miter saws, dual bevel miter saws can tilt the blade both left and right, making it easier to create bevel cuts without flipping the workpiece.
Sliding Functionality: The sliding feature allows the saw head to move horizontally along rails, increasing the maximum width of the material that can be cut. This is especially useful when dealing with wide boards.
Compound Cuts: The combination of miter and bevel capabilities enables the saw to make compound cuts, where the blade can be tilted and angled simultaneously. This is useful for complex cuts required in crown molding and other decorative woodwork.
Precision and Accuracy: Dual bevel sliding compound miter saws are designed for accuracy. They often come with laser guides and adjustable fences that help users make precise cuts consistently.
Versatility: These saws can handle various materials, including wood, plastic, and even certain metals, depending on the blade used. This versatility makes them valuable in different applications.
Safety Features: Modern dual bevel sliding compound miter saws are equipped with safety features like blade guards, electric brakes, and trigger locks to prevent accidental starts.
Portability: While these saws are typically larger and heavier than basic miter saws, many models come with features like carry handles and ergonomic designs to enhance portability.
Dust Collection: Many dual bevel sliding compound miter saws have built-in dust collection systems or ports, keeping the workspace cleaner and improving visibility while cutting.
When choosing a dual bevel sliding compound miter saw, factors to consider include the size and power of the motor, the size of the blade (usually 10 or 12 inches), the bevel and miter angle ranges, and the build quality for durability and stability during operation.
Overall, a dual bevel sliding compound miter saw is a powerful and versatile tool that can significantly enhance the efficiency and precision of various woodworking and construction tasks.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the laser battery powered |
Answer: | Wondering about height limits. I will have an overhead over the bench. What is the distance from bench top to the top of the handle when the saw is in the fully up position? |
Question: | Can this hang upside down in a flip-to cart and not damage the saw |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. The height of CM10DG from the base to the table is 3 3/4" and 27" in width and 32" from front to back. If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Bosch Customer Service Representatives at 1-877-BOSCH-99 (1-877-267-2499) |
Question: | How long is the power cord |
Answer: | The base of the saw is 26"x16" (wide by deep) and therefore would hangover - would not recommend. Also, the base is not solid, only three inches on each end are are solid where the base rests. Finally the saw itself is approximately 32" deep. Again, I think it would be unstable to put on a 24" cart. |
Question: | What is the maximum width of cut for a 1”” thick board |
Answer: | Expanded cutting capacity: 12 In. horizontal capacity (nominal); 5-1/2 in. vertical capacity against the fence (base); 6 in. crown capacity against the fence (45° spring). Also, you can find cutting instructions in the manual starting on page 33. Here is a link to the manual:http://mdm.boschwebservices.com/files/r51484v2.pdf |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the current model that is shipping type 1 or type 20. If you look up the parts diagram the type 20 has a different slide mechanism part number |
Answer: | I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20 |
Question: | Can xps be added, i know dewalt makes a kit to add it to some saws, but this model was not listed |
Answer: | mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world. |
Question: | Does this miter saw come with a laser or any guiding system |
Answer: | It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps! |
Question: | Is there an LED cut line |
Answer: | You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add. |
