Answer:	The saw was sufficiently packaged to protect it during shipping. I got mine in perfect condition. The manufacturer's packaging took care of most of the protection, and I'm pretty sure it was over-boxed as well. Hope this helps, and enjoy the saw. I haven't had a ton of use from mine yet, but have done several smaller projects with just a few cuts and have been pleased with the performance (it's not a cheap toy) and ease of handling. The size and weight make it easy to get it out and start cutting, then put away quickly when the job is done.

Answer:	The M1 is the European version
Question:	I see the vertical max is 3 5/8, but could this cut 4x4 lumber
Answer:	No not with one cut. You would have to turn the 4x4 over. Blade is a 7 1/4" diameter, same as a hand held circular saw. From the tip of the teeth to the edge of the washer (at center of blade) I get 2 7/8".
Question:	What's the cross cut capacity if we use the entire sliding action
Answer:	On a straight 90, I can cut 8" wide boards. On a 45, I can cut right around 5-7/8". This saw was a great addition for me, as I'm constantly working in places away from a simple power source (my generator is a beast and not easy to transport). It cuts cleanly, hasn't bogged down yet (even on wet 2x6 treated), and is super light and easy to transport.

Question:	Have you used the slide for cuts yet? If yes does it stick like other Dewalt sliders do
Answer:	I owned the 780 before this and had a little "stick" but it stopped after a while and some cleaning. I have had the 790 now for about a year and it's never had any resistance that I ever felt. If yours does I would get it serviced or adjust/clean the rails.

Answer:	No, the cord goes on in the same place as the batteries. It comes with a separate charger.

Answer:	I bought a new one today from a lumberyard and it is a Type 1. (says right on the sticker on the motor) Not sure if that means the slide mechanism is better or worse than the Type 20. I would assume it was made in 2014 because there is a "Dewalt use only" tag on the box which starts with 2014. Not sure if a "fresher" saw is a Type 20

Answer:	mmToolparts actually sells a kit (3 proprietary DeWalt parts + their wiring harness) for less than $70. They have videos on their website that show how to install the parts on DW716, DWS779, and DWS782 saws. You will need some additional tools (torx screw drivers or torx bits, wire strippers/cutter/crimper) and somewhat mechanically inclined. Just google "DWS779 xps light kit" and they should be the top result. This might be an easier option versus going to a DeWalt service center in the post pandemic world.

Answer:	It does not come with any laser for guidance. You may find my answer a bit crude, I've been using miter saws for many years and the best guiding system I found to work is my/your eyes. Having lasers or no lasers you still need to use your eyes to get the work piece spot on near the cutoff point. Hope this helps!

Answer:	You can add the LED light to this saw. Not a laser but a shadow light that show exactly where the saw blade will cut. I just did it last night. Parts can be had for about $70. This basically turns it into a model 780 which is much more expensive. Pretty simple to add.

Question:	Can you put a metal cutting blade on it to cut steel tubing
Answer:	Good question and I don't see any reason why not depending on the thickness of the tubing. I have a Dewalt chop saw I used to cut aluminum studs when I was refinishing my basement and it cut just fine with a metal cutting blade. It was a 10" vs 12" saw however. Motors and Amp rating was the same as my DW 716 Mite Saw. May want to ping someone at DeWalt or search thier web site. May not be the right thing to do but you could ask someone at one of the Big Box Home Improvement stores as well.

Answer:	There is no built in clamp.
Question:	How can you attach a temporary wood fence for clamping on a work stop? It look like you can't attach on the right
Answer:	Mounting holes are provided in all four feet to facilitate bench mounting. There are round countersunk holes for use with screws and square holes for use with the miter saw stand "carraige bolt" or M8 (5/16") or smaller bolts. Use either hole, it is not necessary to use both. Always mount your saw firmly to prevent movement. To enhance the tool’s portability, it can be mounted to a piece of 1/2" (12.7 mm) or thicker plywood which can then be clamped to your work support or moved to other job sites and reclamped. NOTE: If you elect to mount your saw to a piece of plywood, make sure that the mounting screws don’t protrude from the bottom of the wood. The plywood must sit flush on the work support. When clamping the saw to any work surface, clamp only on the clamping bosses where the mounting screw holes are located. Clamping at any other point will surely interfere with the proper operation of the saw. CAUTION: To prevent binding and inaccuracy, be sure the mounting surface is not warped or otherwise uneven. Answer:	Yes, the blade will cut aluminum; however, is not designed for aluminum and I'm sure there are some pieces of aluminum, such as very thick pieces that could destroy the blade or the saw. Look for a blade better suited to the material you are intending to cut.

Answer:	These are designed to be attached to a bar of some sort. I use the to make my own version of the carbide "Easy turning tool" for roughing out wood items on a wood lathe. I would imagine you could also create a turning tool for a metal lathe.

Answer:	This saw seems to have all of the features of the plug in units. It has a lot of nice features making it well worth having. I like to think of this saw as a very well equipped double bevel miter saw that has the option to be cordless.

Answer:	The other response you your question is wrong. This saw is identical to the dWS780 and comes with a power chord. This saw can also run on batteries. While plugged in they are the same.

Not all miter saw lasers are created equal. The DW7187 Adjustable Miter Saw Laser System was designed for the professional miter saw user and will only fit the DEWALT DW715 (Only Type I and Type II compatible), DW716 (Type 1-4) or DW718 (all types) 12” Miter Saws. The laser module mounts on the upper guard of the miter saw and the power supply, which delivers the ability for the laser to be turned on and off independent of blade rotation, mounts behind the saw’s handle. The laser is encased in a durable protected housing designed to meet the demands of the jobsite and shop. The laser line is fully adjustable and can be positioned to the left or right side of the blade cut. The on/off operation eliminates the need for batteries as it is powered by the saw and the blade does not have to be spinning for the laser to operate. The bright laser diode delivers visibility to the cut path and is not obscured when cutting larger materials vertically against the fence. Initial installation and calibration of the laser can be performed in about 10 minutes.

Answer:	I have had a few issues with Gearwrench tools and have always called customer service direct. They have always taken good care of me as an end user. For small stuff like a socket or wrench or screwdriver they generally just send a replacement. For bigger issues or torque wrenches I have had to send them in at my expense (which did not cost much) and they sent a return item at no cost and shipped it at there expense. Kevin
