Answer:	Not as loud as belt sander. If I was doing a lot of sanding, I would wear hearing protection. It's about 60 to 70 dbs when sanding. The belt sander is about 70 to 80 when sanding. Prolonged use : ear plugs

Answer:	Could be the sleeve. I tighten mine down and it works fine. I'm very happy with the one I have. I would contact the manufacturer.
Question:	what's the actually sanding height possible with this sander
Answer:	If the sanding drum in installed flush with the rubber core, the "as-designed" safe sanding height ( distance from the table top to the bottom of the drum downstroke) is 3 3/4 inches. The stroke is 1/2 inch, so it will sand a total of 4 1/4 inches if utilizing the upstroke.
Question:	Anyone find a place to put the extra washers? It's driving me nuts having, seemingly, no where to put them
Answer:	All those neat little places that are designed to hold the accessories are designed by people that don't use the equipment. All the washers, sanding sleeves, mandrills for my machine are in a box not far from the sander. Anything stored as per design would end up covered in sawdust and would have to be removed every time a vacuum or air gun is used for clean up. Cigar box (or similar) is just fine.

Question:	How easy to go from belt to spindle or vice versa? How long does it take
Answer:	About a minute, take the nut off the top and the belt assembly will come off. Then you can install the plate and drum onto the spindle. Note: the drum and belt opinions use two different nuts, they both come with the machine, the down side is that you have to keep up with the one your not using. To my knowledge the rigid brand is the same way.

Answer:	In the photo, there is a stop bar on the right side which indicates the belt moves from left to right, counter-clockwise, pushing a work piece int the stop bar. But I don't own one of these.

Question:	What is the maximum spindle diameter that can be fitted
Answer:	I believe a 3”. I am not sure if jet still offers a 3” spindle, but they did when I got mine. But I had to go to the jet web site. Good luck.
Question:	what's the foot print of this machine and how high is it
Answer:	Base bottom is 12" square, top plate is '19 high. It's a fine instrument and I enjoy using it.
Question:	If the sander spindle is 5 1/2" will the 6" sanding sleeve work on it
Answer:	On my Jet sander, the spindles and sleeves vary from 5-1/2 to 6". (The smaller diameter sleeves are the longer ones for some reason. ) I see no problem putting 6" sleeves on 5-1/2" spindles, and vice versa. I like this sander a lot, by the way.

Answer:	No, this is for woodworking. You would need to purchase a grinder for harden steel.

Answer:	Yes, you can hook up a vac to it. It has a 1 1/2" plastic connector that sticks out of the back of it. You will need to size your vac to fit over this.

Question:	Can you buy a 3" drum for this sander
Answer:	based on what I have read and the drop in plate that will accept a 3 inch drum. yes, the real question, do you really need one. May be nice to have, but in all my experience, nice is not always necessary. If you are in big production runs that require that size, then it might be worth the additional cost. Just looking at the need from a different view point.

Answer:	The Sharpal 178N weighs 4.9 oz (139 g.). The aluminum handle acts as a holder for the two sharpening rods (cylinder and tapered). When the sharpeners are in the storage handle, the length is 5.25 inches (133 mm) and diameter is 5/8 inch (21 mm). I did not include the weight of the storage bag because I don't use it. The Handle provides excellent storage, so don't need the bag.

Question:	Does it have the inserts that go around the smaller sleves (1/2") so you can stand smaller things or are smaller things going to fall into it

Question:	Could you use a 2" sanding sleeve with this sander
Answer:	No, I don't believe you can. The arbor is of a fixed height.
Question:	What kind of sandpaper are these, garnet? Aluminum oxide
Answer:	Aluminum oxide.
Question:	Does this sander use standard sanding sleaves
Answer:	No, it does not!! The sleeves that come with this sander are only 3" in length. Once again, someone answering a question without knowing what they are talking about. The WEN sanding sleeve kit Amazon recommends for this sander are the standard 4 1/2" long and are meant for the WEN sanding table...not this portable sander. I suppose you could cut them to 3", but the kit also includes 2 larger diameter sleeves that can't be used with this sander. Big Horn is the only manufacturer I can find on Amazon that makes 3" long sanding sleeves.
