User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, i want to buy this dewalt dwp611, but i need to know if it suits me for a cnc router, can you work varis hours? and can i use 3mm cutters |
Answer: | I picked up a 1/8" & 1/4" precision collet from thinker tinker, but I have never seen a true 3mm collet. I believe the 1/8" is just a little too big. |
Question: | see 2 different opinions on whether or not this can be used with a router table can or can't it be used . Thanks |
Answer: | As others have stated, any router can be set-up on a table. I believe Rockler woodworking sells a plate for a small table. The real question is what type of work you plan to do with the router... The DeWalt DW P611 is a great little router. I use one on a CNC router... doing very fine detail work. It does, however, have limitations. Serious woodworkers usually prefer a router with a 1/2" collet. The 1/2" bits are more robust and come in a wide selection of profiles... and with an adapter, 1/4" bits can be used... adding versatility. As for power, if for example, you will be making door panels, the Dewalt would not be a good choice. I have 3 1/2" routers in the 2 1/2 to 3 hp range. Another nice feature to consider is a "plunge" Again, it all depends what you plan to use it for... |
Question: | Does know how loud this router runs? Could anyone with a noise dosimeter check how many dB |
Answer: | At 17500 RPMs (1.5 on the settings dial) mine measures 78.9 db A weighted at 3 feet. |
Question: | Are there any tables besides the Rockler one that this could mount to? I'm just looking to do rabbets and decorative edges on small picture frames etc |
Answer: | I just now finished (30 minutes ago) fitting mine to a Skil RAS900 router table. Works like a charm. With multiple passes with shallow cuts, you could probably route most anything. To make it fit, I simply cut four small (2") aluminum brackets (drilled holes for the small bolts & screws, etc) to attach the router to the table's mounting plate. The Skil RAS800 is the same, so it'll fit that table as well. In fact, if you can fabricate your own brackets or drill holes in mounting plates (for tables with that type of mounting), it will probably fit any table. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The edge guide shown in the picture is included |
Answer: | The clear base with the flat edge guide is included. |
Question: | does it come with bit? If I want to buy bits, is there any particular kind I should look for |
Answer: | No, it does not come with any bits, And they require 1/4" bits, other than that, that's it. There is a whole world of selection out there. There is also 1/2" bits; they are used by more heavy duty routers. |
Question: | can you use both 1/4 and 1/2 in collets |
Answer: | From an experienced woodworker: this router comes with a 0.25” collet (for 0.25” shanks). However, if you have a 0.50” collet (for 0.50” shanks) this will work IF the router bit head is smaller than 1-⅜”, that is your limitation, the base. Also beware that larger bits can bog down the router as it is only 1.25 hp, that larger 618 would be a better choice. Straight bits and round overs are good bit to limit this use. Chamfers and raised panel type bits should be avoided. There’s a lot of terms in these precious answers which are confused and misinformation. |
Question: | To anyone who has this router mounted on a router table: would you please share your experience? Thanks |
Answer: | Sure. It will work fine for light duty table routing using 1/4” bits. It’s pretty robust for what is basically a trim router. Keep in mind the larger bits are all 1/2” and will not fit this router’s collet. The 1/2” bits are designed for heavy duty work on large routers. In other words, it will work, but only for light duty work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can you set this up for a table router |
Answer: | My short answer would be yes. I'm not sure whether there are commercially available tables for it, though. You may have to build one yourself. |
Question: | What is the set of drill bits should I buy for this tool. I bought the MLCS 8377 15-Piece Router Bit Set with Carbide-Tipped 1/2-Inch Shanks and are n |
Answer: | This is a 1/4" collet router. If you want to use 3/8" (new to me) or 1/2" get a 1/2" router. I've used routers for 45 years. Own a 1/4" and two 1/2" Here's a quick guide: 1/4" router is the most widely useful, can be held in one hand for quick work, your arm doesn't get tired as fast as with a larger router. This one is good for hinge guides and door installs, laminate trimming (laminate trim bits with bearings), round over of the edges of boards or plywood. Makes a neat no slivers edge, get 1/2", 3/4" diameter cove bits (these will make 1/4 and 3/8" from the edge curves) I get these with bearings as well. (If you want less of a curve, use less depth, the curve is not symmetrical--no one will care. This is what I usually grab my 1/4" router for (I've got a Porter Cable 1/4" that's 40 years old. Can't figure out how to take it apart to replace the cord. Rather than a $60 trip to the tool repair I'm thinking of this one, vacuum dust collection is a plus). Shelf dados, usually 1/2 to 3/4" wide, is best done with a more powerful 1/2" router, but you can get by with this with two passes (overlapping) of a 1/2" straight bit. Plunge routing: always use dust collection. Freehand scroll work: 1/8 or 1/4" round bits- I don't do this, others do. If you don't yet have a router, or a specific shop need, get a 1/4". If you think you need one of those $400 router tables: don't. Make your own or buy a jointer. Figuring out how to make a router table will teach you about making jigs (you can make a fence that has finer adjustment than the fanciest most expensive one on the market) Direction of working. There's a correct direction to running a router along the edge of a board. With plywood, pine, fir, spruce, etc.. going the correct way can rip out long splinters. If you first make a very shallow pass in the 'wrong' direction to knock off the edge, then go normal depth in the correct direction, you can avoid this. (I still don't know if I want this router or not. There were 6 opened and reclosed boxes (returns?) at the Home Depot. Why?) |
Question: | can it be used for wood doors and frames for hinges |
Answer: | Yes, but it is a much better used as router than a door or frame hinge. |
Question: | Can I trim my toe nails with it |
Answer: | I definitely would use a flush trim bit. A round over or rabbiting bit might be too much. IMO |

Featuring a 12 amp variable-speed, soft-start motor, the DEWALT 2-1/4-Inch Fixed-Base/Plunge-Base Router Combo Kit is packed with smart design features that make routing easy. Depth adjustment and base changes are tool free, and integrated dust control keeps work spaces clean and improves cut line visibility.
Powerful and Accurate with Variable-Speed ControlThe 2-1/4-horsepower, 12 amp motor allows the router to cut through the toughest hardwoods. The router's electronic variable-speed trigger lets you select from between 8,000 and 24,000 rpm for specific applications. And because this system employs full electronic feedback, you can trust the router to provide constant speed under load. In addition, the motor's soft start reduces start-up torque for optimum control.
The router's fixed base features a micro-fine depth-adjustment ring that provides precise bit adjustments in 1/64-inch increments. Because the ring--not the motor can--turns to adjust bit depth, a constant switch/cordset location is maintained when you are using the router in a table. This minimizes difficulty in turning the unit on and off and keeps operation consistent.
The plunge base features an adjustable five-position turret stop for use when making repeated plunge cuts. The easy-to-reach plunge-release lever and switch keep control at your fingertips during routing.
Quick, Secure Base and Bit Changes
The clear, LEXAN sub-base offers optimum bit visibility and base durability, and it accepts standard template-guide bushings to make application-specific setups easy. Also, a sub-base concentricity gauge is included. If you insert this into the collet prior to bit installation, it will help you center the sub-base relative to bit location when making your cut line off of the side of the base.
Moreover, the sub-base and other included bases are designed to make both base and bit changes easy. Quick-release motor latches allow for fast and easy motor-pack removal, while a spindle-lock button allows for single-wrench bit changes. The fixed base also offers a flat top, so the router can be set upside down for easy bit and depth changes. Additionally, long, self-releasing, eight-slotted collets provide improved bit retention and prevent bits from jamming.
Built for Consistency and Durability
Routing applications produce a lot of dust, which can result in extra wear and tear on electronic parts. That's why this system features a dust-sealed switch that protects against dust ingestion for longer tool life. Other components that contribute to the tool's overall consistency and durability include heavy-duty metal housings, precision-machined brass bushings, and case-hardened steel guide rods on the plunge base.
Comfortable Operation with Integrated Dust Control
Each base features comfortable rubber over-molded handles and a low center of gravity for improved balance and control and reduced user fatigue. The base also has a patented through-the-column dust-collection system. This allows a vacuum to be attached to the router without blocking your line of sight.
In addition, this router kit offers you the ability to work with the switch and cordset on either your left or right side. Also contributing to this setup's usability is a detachable cordset that can be easily serviced. A shorty cord motor pack is not required if you opt to place the motor can in a D-Handle base.

Question: | What will the 2.25 HP Dewalt router do that this will not? Differences |
Answer: | Well it depends a lot on what purpose you are using it for. The HP claims are pretty much worthless as both will be equal in terms of mid-size routing. The major flaw the 2.25HP (DW618. I'll refer to it as "618". Whereas this is the DW616... SO, "616") has is it cannot be used in an upside down router table without blowing up bearings in it. THE 616 is fine in a table. Also, the 616 has a quick start vs 618 which is a slow start. This means the 616 is running full speed at start, while the 618 starts slow and takes a second or two to build up speed. Both have advantages, and disadvantages. The BIGGEST issue for myself and others is that the 618 motor has... well... fire problems. Lol. That motor does not like extended use and with eat up brushes like mad. The 616 might have a bit less power, but its basically unnoticeable if you are using good sharp bits. Most importantly... the 616 (the "weaker" of the 2) tends to handle a lengthy runtime without catching fire lol. Personally, I prefer the 616 when it comes to mid-range routers. It has plenty of power, even with hardwoods, and larger bits. If you are planning on closing giant bits, or surface planing, I'd recommend neither and point you to a larger plunge base style of router with much greater strength, but a much higher weight. |

Product description
Offering excellent professional grade quality and comfortable handling, the DEWALT DW625 variable speed electronic plunge router is powered by a 3 horsepower, 15 amp motor for power and precision. It offers a soft start for smoother operation and variable speeds from 8,000 to 22,000 RPM.
Smooth operation from soft-starting 3 horsepower, 15 amp motor (view larger).
Power and Performance
The DW625's 3 horsepower, 15 amp motor uses state-of-the-art circuitry for soft starts and smooth operation, and its full wave electronic variable speed motor runs at 8,000-22,000 RPM with constant speed under load to ensure a quality finish in all materials. The rack and pinion depth adjuster, magnified scale, and micro-fine bit depth adjuster provide fast and accurate depth settings, while the phosphorous bronze bushings provide a smooth and accurate plunge.
Comfort and Convenience
The handles offer total comfort and confidence as you guide the 11-1/4-pound DW625 around. And its soft start means no jerking, even when you start it at its peak speed. It comes with 1/2- and 1/4-inch collets, and when it's time to change the bit, you'll appreciate the spindle-lock button; it's a big square with a finger depression, unlike most other routers that offer either two wrenches to wrestle with or a small, sharp spindle-lock pin that leaves a red dent in your finger. One side of the base is rounded and one is flat, and it comes with a dust-extraction adapter.
Warranty
This DEWALT tool is backed by three-year limited warranty covering any defects due to faulty materials or workmanship (from the date of purchase). It's also covered by DEWALT's one-year free service contract, where DEWALT will maintain the tool and replace worn parts caused by normal use--for free.

User questions & answers
Question: | will this router accomodate the 3 to 3.5 inch raised panel bits |
Answer: | Hello David Rocha! I'll pass dimensions in mm: height is approximately 210 mm, the depth is approximately 390 mm and length is about 600 mm. |
Question: | It's from Italy, so I guest it's tun with 230 V. Is it |
Answer: | Yes this router can do that. The only addition part you absolutely need would be the plate. If he already has an insert plate then he's all set. If he doesn't then I recommend buying a steel or aluminum one which aren't that pricey. The advantage to buying one over making one would be that the aluminum plate will not sag under the weigh of the router. |
Question: | will this item Australian power connections |
Answer: | Electronic variable speed with full feedback control for constant speed under load from 8,000-24,000 rpm and soft start to reduce start-up torque for enhanced control |
Question: | Is the parallel guide included |
Answer: | I have used this router mounted upside down in a router table many times without any problems. On my router table the opening in the table is only a little bit large than the router bit. There is dust and small chips that drops down some of which probably enters the router, but a periodic blast of air during routine maintenance has kept my router running smoothly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size is the base |
Answer: | Buy the full size Makita bandsaw. The compact bandsaw is great, but it is really too small to cut 3" schedule 40 pipe. It may barely cut through the wall by rolling the pipe ,but it would be a slow process (the throat opening is under 3"). This saw is great for smaller stock. I have both saws and I think they are both much handier than my corded saws. If you only can afford one saw, I would buy the full size model. |
Question: | do they sell the router fence/guide |
Answer: | The slots may be different for your model than the JT160, which these knives fit. The only way to know for sure is to call Delta at 1 (800) 223-7278. They could answer that. |
Question: | What means " So Star Kit |
Answer: | Our machines are spiral style meaning the tips are mounted spirally around the cutterhead. The insert tips themselves strike the stock square to the surface but do not cause any cupping. |
Question: | There seem to be two completely different bases pictured here, one with a small bit opening and the second, much larger. Does this ship with two |
Answer: | The 6" jointer is 30.5" overall length. 33 7/8" or 34" (Amazon rounds 33 7/8" to the whole number) are the shipping dimensions. |
Question: | Does the DWE6000 take a 3/8 drill bit |
Answer: | Ordered from manufacturer and shipping was faster than Prime. I do believe that returns would be easier through Amazon as the manufacturer only allows returns within 14 days of receipt and their RMA requirements are pretty strict. Plus, you pay return shipping on a 60 lbs. jointer if you choose to send it back. Maybe the extra $50 to Amazon is worth some peace of mind. |
Question: | este router se puede fijar a una mesa |
Answer: | The country of origin is Taiwan. |
Question: | Does this trimmer have a micro adjustment |
Answer: | It is also fit delta 22-590 and other 13" planer blade , this blades with 3 hole. |
Question: | Do have 220V for this model |
Answer: | Need more information on about your tool or a picture of your blades. |
