7 best dewalt impacts

DeWalt impacts, specifically impact wrenches, are high-torque power tools designed for fastening and loosening nuts, bolts, and other fasteners. They are widely used in automotive repair, construction, and various industrial applications. Here's what you should know about DeWalt impact wrenches:

  1. High Torque Output: DeWalt impact wrenches are known for their impressive torque output, making them ideal for tackling tasks that require substantial force, such as removing rusted or tightly secured nuts and bolts.

  2. Corded and Cordless Models: DeWalt offers both corded and cordless (battery-powered) impact wrenches.Cordless models provide greater mobility and flexibility on job sites, while corded ones offer continuous power without the need for recharging.

  3. Brushless Motors: Many DeWalt impact wrenches feature brushless motors, which are more efficient, generate less heat, and have a longer lifespan compared to brushed motors. Brushless technology also contributes to better battery life in cordless models.

  4. Variable Speed and Torque Control: These impact wrenches typically come with variable speed and torque control settings. This allows users to adjust the tool's power output to match the specific fastening or loosening task, reducing the risk of over-torquing.

  5. Compact and Lightweight Design: DeWalt designs their impact wrenches to be compact and lightweight, making them easy to handle and maneuver even in tight spaces.

  6. Durable Construction: DeWalt is known for producing durable tools, and their impact wrenches are no exception. They are built to withstand the demands of heavy-duty applications and are often constructed with high-quality materials.

  7. Anvil Types: DeWalt impact wrenches are available with different types of anvils, including hog ring and detent pin, to accommodate various fastening needs. The anvil type affects how sockets are retained on the tool.

  8. LED Work Lights: Many DeWalt impact wrenches feature built-in LED work lights to illuminate the work area, making it easier to work in low-light conditions or tight spaces.

  9. Tool-Free Socket Changes: DeWalt often incorporates tool-free socket changes into their impact wrenches, allowing users to switch sockets quickly without the need for additional tools.

  10. Compatibility: DeWalt impact wrenches are compatible with a wide range of impact-rated sockets and accessories, making them versatile tools for different applications.

In summary, DeWalt impact wrenches are powerful, versatile, and durable tools suitable for a range of tasks in automotive repair, construction, and industrial settings. Whether you choose a corded or cordless model, you can expect reliable performance and the ability to handle demanding fastening and loosening jobs.

User questions & answers

Question: using 1 of the 3 speeds ,is there anyway to set the torque to 100 ft-lbs
Answer: The manual states that the maximum torque values for each speed are 100/300/700. So if you set it to Speed 1 then the maximum torque it will deliver is 100 ft-lbs.
Question: Dofference between dcf899m1 and dcf899b
Answer: Dewalt codes are as follows B = bare tool. No battery. C = Compact (1.5Ah) battery. D = 2Ah compact battery. L = 3Ah battery. M = 4Ah battery. P = 5Ah battery. T = 6Ah Flexvolt battery. X = 9Ah Flexvolt battery. DCF899 = Detent pin version. DCF899H = Hog ring version. So, DCF899M1 is detent pin with 1 4Ah battery. If you see something like DCF899HP2, that means hog ring version with 2 5Ah battery. Otherwise, whether it's DCF899B or DCF899M1 or DCF899P1, the tool itself is EXACTLY the same.
Question: Is this a kit, or just the lone drill
Answer: DCF899B is the DCF899 impact with a detent anvil sold as a (B) bare tool. DCF899HB is the DCF899H impact with a (H) hog ring anvil* sold as a (B) bare tool. DCF899M1 is the DCF899 impact with detent anvil sold as a kit with charger, one (1) 4Ah battery, and a bag. DCF899P1 is the DCF899 impact with detent anvil sold as a kit with charger, one (1) 5Ah battery, and a bag. DCF899P2 is the DCF899 impact with detent anvil sold as a kit with charger, two (2) 5Ah batteries, and a bag. DCF899HP2 is the DCF899H impact with hog ring anvil* sold as a kit with charger, two (2) 5Ah batteries, and a bag *Difference between detent and hog ring: Detent holds socket more securely but must be put on so pin lines up with hole in impact socket & will need a small screwdriver or the like to release. Hog ring allows one to put on and pull off impact sockets by hand, though usually pretty difficult at first until broken in. Of course you should only use impact sockets/extensions If you put a hand socket (usually chrome) on a hog ring it will lock on and you will need a tool to get it off because the indentations are different. That's also a good way to break the hog ring, but if that happens they are cheap and easy to replace. Detents are usually more suited for situations where socket changes are infrequent like in a factory setting & hog rings for where frequent changes are needed like automotive work.
Question: My boyfriend mentioned briefly he wanted a dewalt gun that apparently is so strong that he can change tires within minutes with it. could this be it
Answer: Yes. This could be it. This is currently Dewalts newest and strongest cordless impact wrench. You might want to look for the one that comes with batteries and a charger if he doesn't have that already. Be mindful that this model comes with two variations: hog ring and detent anvil. Detent anvil holds the socket tighter but uses a tool (which is probably included)to change the sockets while hog ring holds the socket on with a split washer but doesn't require a tool. Great tool though with either option.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the product reference (number) of the charger ? I need to check the specs since the description: fast charger is not helping enough
Answer: The charger is model number DCB107
Question: Bit size
Answer: This driver uses the 1/4" hex shank bits, but you could buy a 1/4" hex shank drill chuck adapter like the Neiko 20754A adapter that Amazon sells, and use regular drill bits.
Question: Can you break Lugnuts off of tires with this impact driver
Answer: Actually, I used it on a whim to change out the tire on my wife's CR-V. She discovered she had picked up a screw while at soccer practice. I grabbed this impact, the adapter, the socket, and my 4 way and headed to the park. I was planning on breaking them loose with the 4 way and zipping them off and on with the impact. I tried the impact first on a whim. It broke loose 4 of the 5 nuts, and did a good job of seating them all when I put the spare on. I finished torquing them with the 4 way, but I barely even budged them. They would have likely been fine with just the impact. Now, this tool wouldn't stand a chance against the lug nuts on my 1 ton diesel, but neither would any of 3/8" or regular duty 1/2" impacts.
Question: Can you take simi, and regular tires off with this impact
Answer: It certainly IS NOT going to take semi lug nuts off. It won't take the lugs nuts of pickups or SUVs either. And while it MIGHT manage to remove an under torqued lug nut from a tiny car, it WILL NOT pull properly torqued lug nuts off of anything. This is a ONE QUARTER INCH impact driver for screws, and small nuts and bolts. To pull wheels, get at least a 1/2" impact with 300 plus FOOT POUNDS of torque (and that won't do semi's)

User questions & answers

Question: What type of adaptor is needed for socket use with this impact driver
Answer: You can purchase on here 1/4" hex to socket adapters for 1/4,3/8,1/2" sockets. However, this is not an impact wrench, it is an impact driver. So you will have no problems using this for basic socket tasks, but you would not want to try and change a tire.
Question: Is a dcb205 battery compatible with this driver
Answer: Yes, all 20v battery wether it's 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 or 5.0 ah battery works
Question: What's the difference between this and the 885b non xr
Answer: The 887 is much stronger as well. This one has 1800 inch lbs of torque which is stronger than any other brand's impact driver (except the kobalt 24v but it's much lighter than that one) What the power means is that it will drive a large lag bolt quicker and smoother than other brands which will struggle to do the same job Don't even consider brushed version. The brushless are more powerful, more energy efficient and made in USA. They only cost a little more so not really a benefit to get the 885
Question: How many foot lbs does this produce? tia
Answer: 152ft-lbs, according to Dewalt's website. Enough to injure your wrist if you're not prepared for the power. It's an awesome tool!

User questions & answers

Question: Is there link to a DCS356 user manual for download
Answer: I can't answer that directly.... but I have had several "undercut" saws as they were originally called. Use to undercut trim and doors when installing flooring. So having had blades from 3 different undercut saws I can tell you that any blade for any of the other models I've owned before the new Dewalt 20V has worked just fine in the Dewalt 20V because it comes with an adapter that is put between the oscillating arm and blade and then both are secured in the tool with the clamping mechanism. Which by the way does not require any other tool to lock the blade in the Dewalt 20V
Question: Dumb question, but does this come with a 20v battery and charger
Answer: Any 20v DeWalt charger. Also fast charger that works for 20v and 60v.
Question: is there an adapter I can use with this to attach dremel blades and accessories
Answer: 8 lb
Question: What battery charger does this use
Answer: The yellow tough box included in the set will house a 22 piece bit set.

User questions & answers

Question: Just got one and its super hard to twist it left and nearly impossible to twist right (while pushing in). Is it supposed to be like that
Answer: When you say "twist" do you mean to unlock it in order to change directions? If so mine just took a bit of loosening. I smacked it with a hammer a few times and then was able to reverse the twist with no issue. Ended up working perfectly when I needed to remove the rusted set screws holding the brake rotors on my 2007 Acura MDX. 7 years/75k miles and have never been changed so they were really rusted in there. Two smacks a piece and they came right out!
Question: Are the screwdriver bits 1/4 inch, or something larger
Answer: They fit 5/16" hex shank bits. It is hard to find 5/16" Torx bits in the US and Amazon. For Torx search Amazon "5/16 torx bit" (or bits) but read each carefully as some 1/4" also show up.
Question: What size bid does it use
Answer: I assume you mean "Bits" and the screwdriver Bits that come with it are 5/16 shank bits. The bit adapter fits onto the 1/2" drive handle. The one missing piece to make this work is a nice sized hammer. I use this to remove large, Head stripped screws from steel door hinges. A real time saver. It works great!
Question: So this thing did not come with directions. It has some unexplained markings on it. Can someone explain how to set to the hammer-to-unscrew setting
Answer: Yeah the markings make no sense because there is no point of reference. If you hold it in one hand and slowly push the drive in with your other hand you will see the direction it moves whether slightly clockwise or CCW. If you want it to torque the other way, just turn push in and rotate to the other setting.

User questions & answers

Question: Is there a 18volt tool similar in torque value in the dewalt line
Answer: no stay with 20v
Question: How easy is it to remove a socket? Do you have to press the pin, or can you just pull it off? The hog ring version doesn't seem to be available
Answer: I honestly think the hog ring is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Detente is better. Not hard to use at all. It won't wear out. The hog ring will be good for about a year.
Question: can you use the battery 20v max lithium ion 1.5ah with this tool
Answer: Yes 20V is all that matters. You can use any 20V Dewalt battery with any 20V Dewalt tool. Still the amp rating directly determines how long the battery will last. So using 1.5AH battery will only drive half as many screws/bolts compared to a 3AH battery before the battery is dead but it will still work.
Question: Amazon lists the torque at 300 ft lbs while the DeWalt site lists it at 400 ft lbs. Which is it
Answer: I'm not going to bulls#!t anyone. I never used this product, BUT typically the max torque of Impact Wrenches is in reverse. So maybe it's 400 ft.-lbs. in reverse and 300 ft.-lbs. foward? I don't know.

About Us

Raymond E. DEWALT followed in his father's steps, and worked in plants and construction after leaving school. In all fields of work he encountered the issue of high labour costs. To help reduce these costs, whenever possible he installed a machine to handle specific needs.

One fine day, M. DEWALT was hired to head a wood mill, manufacturing numerous products, from basic boxes to complete houses. The amount of work exceeded the company's capacity by far, but its owner could not afford to increase the headcount. The only solution was to ensure his men produced more work. M. DEWALT built a yoke, which he connected directly to a motor and a saw. He then fitted it onto a standard arm. The saw could be raised, lowered, moved forward and backward, and adapted to all types of angles. With this system, he could handle the same amount of work as four men, reducing labor costs beyond his wildest imagination.
