14 best air drills
Air drills are versatile power tools commonly used in various industries and workshops for drilling holes in a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and more. They are typically part of a broader category of power hand tools and are often used alongside impact wrenches and other pneumatic tools in construction, automotive repair, woodworking, and other applications.
Key features and aspects of air drills include:
Pneumatic Operation: Air drills are powered by compressed air, which is supplied through an air compressor. This pneumatic operation allows for consistent and powerful performance, making them suitable for heavy-duty tasks.
Variable Speed: Many air drills offer variable speed settings, allowing users to adjust the drilling speed to match the material being worked on and the size of the drill bit. This feature provides greater control and precision.
Chuck Size: Air drills come with different chuck sizes, typically ranging from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. The chuck is the part of the drill that holds the drill bit in place, and the size of the chuck determines the maximum drill bit diameter the tool can accommodate.
Reversible: Most air drills are reversible, meaning they can rotate in both forward and reverse directions. This feature is particularly useful for tasks like removing screws or bolts.
Compact and Lightweight: Air drills are generally compact and lightweight, making them easy to handle and maneuver, even in tight spaces.
Durability: These tools are known for their durability and ability to withstand heavy use in industrial settings. They are built to last and require relatively minimal maintenance.
Versatility: Air drills can accept a wide variety of drill bits and accessories, allowing them to perform tasks such as drilling, reaming, countersinking, and more.
Safety Considerations: Users should wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses and hearing protection, when operating air drills. Additionally, it's essential to follow proper operating procedures and ensure the tool is in good working condition.
In summary, air drills are valuable power tools commonly used for drilling holes in various materials. They offer the advantages of pneumatic power, variable speed control, and durability, making them suitable for a range of applications in construction, automotive repair, woodworking, and more.

User questions & answers
Question: | The handle rubber piece came apart on mine. Is there a warranty towards it? Or anyway I can get a new one on there |
Answer: | It depends on the type of water, but in my lack of experience, I would say yes as long as you keep it dry. It makes pretty cool bubbles when I do this. If you add soap to the water, they are even more fantastic. Try blue food dye. Dry it off when you are done, and check along the edges for burrs (These are easily removed. ) But you are going to love it. Since no electricity, everything should be okay. Make sure you put a little oil in tool , which is recommended even for out of water usage. I use pneumatic grade oil, but that's just me. You can go ahead and use another kind of oil, but there is no reason to get hostile about it. Each to their own. Horses for courses, I always say. You are less than pleasant. |
Question: | Can it be used under water |
Answer: | Had the same issue when I opened the box. The "EL" tag is two pieces that can be pried apart with any common screwdriver. I placed my new tool in a vise (wrapped in a thick rag) and slipped the screwdriver between the base of the EL tag (by the tool's handle) and the outside top covering (containing the anti-theft RFID tag). Once inserted, pry the two pieces apart and you will find a plastic hex nut (5/8" in) locking down the portion of the tag closest to the tool handle. Remove the nut and, "viola", no more EL tag! Hope this helps... |
Question: | No luck with removing this stupid El Tag (plastic protective tag)... Help please... I am tempted to return it |
Answer: | Yes. I used this to install heavy duty shelves in my garage, e.g. screwed them into the wall jousts. It worked very well. No problem with having enough torque, in fact I had to use the variable speed to decrease the torque a little. Worked well. The only other thing I would mention is that you have to have a compressor that will provide sufficient air to drive the tool |
Question: | Is variable speed efficient, compared to electrical drill. I plan to use to screw decking boards and need good torque, but also good variable speed |
Answer: | This is air powered not electric |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the head be flipped 180° so the trigger is not on the palm side |
Answer: | You can use an adapter to put a socket on the drive. You won’t be able to have a ratchet backs and forth. |
Question: | What is the cfm rating@90psi and is it easy on air usage |
Answer: | The reconditioned tools we sell carry a 1 year factory warranty. The new tools we sell carry a 3 year factory warranty |
Question: | Is it a right hand left hand air drill |
Answer: | Correct, is does not have hammer drill function. |
Question: | In the description it states "quiet design". The one I received is so loud that it hurts my ears. how do i make mine quieter |
Answer: | this drill has no clutch for setting the slipping force, so you could over drive screws. Ive had it torque my wrist when driving screws. It also is not balanced well enough to drill something like concrete without using two hands. I got this drill to only use in tight spaces, i personally prefer the traditional drill. But to answer your question truthfully, this would do the job any drill could do. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the drill be used underwater |
Answer: | Probably. But there are much better tools suited for such a task. Such as an impact driver. I certainly wouldn't expect the drill to last long. Plus there is no clutch. A stop in the screw action would injure you. |
Question: | Would this drill have enough torque to raise the landing gear on a trailer |
Answer: | The reverse levers sometimes do have turning issues. They can be not generally easy repairs. The tool would have to be sent into an authorized service center for repairs. |
Question: | why isnt the reverse lever work or am i doing it wrong? it seems stuck |
Answer: | According to package 500 rpm free speed |
Question: | what is rpm range |
Answer: | The 12 volts is a miss label. This is an air powered drill no electricity needed |
