Answer:	The listed RPM is 3600 @ 60hz 11 amp @ 115V, 5.5 amp @ 230V should you change the setup over to 230V, it comes setup for 115 operation, easy to follow their manual to change the wiring setup to 230. I was going to but didn't bother because this grinder is a beast @ the 115V. I use it with a VanSant MultiTool Belt grinder attachment for steel & other metal fabrication, finishing edges, deburring, and some shaping. Also use the 60 grit on the other side of the grinder for assorted grinder tasks. It comes up to speed almost immediately and so far has not bogged down on anything I've done wit it. Great machine so far not a complaint..! This unit is a Made in Taiwan machine vs a mainland republic of China unit. Hope this helps!
Question:	How does this one compare to Jets other grinder, model 577102 which spec wise seems identical except the color
Answer:	This one is built to a much higher standard. 1) The wheel flanges on this grinder are large and machined, 577102 has cheap, smaller, stamped steel flanges. What does that mean? The wheels will always run truer on this grinder. 2) The motor on this grinder is another league compared to 577102, equal written specs don't always mean equal performance or durability. This Grinder while pre-wired to run off 120 volts, can also be set up to run off 220 volts. That means longer motor life and easier starting when operating it at 220 volts. The 577102 is strictly 120 volt,. 3) There is the exhaust ports, the ones on this one exit in the back/side toward the center of the grinder to a "T" the 577102 has an oval exit behind each wheel. That means this one is allot easier to hook up to dust collection equipment the longer port length also lessons sparks catching anything on fire. You can look at the two manuals on Jet's website and it spells things out with pics too. 4) Lastly is the switch this grinder has a more expensive removable lock out, 577102 has a cheap toggle switch. This grinder is also OSHA approved for industry where 577102 is not, most likely because of the power switch, OSHA's picky about power switches, they must be large, red and easy to access and lock out.

Answer:	Rom my experience it is either on or off. If you want variable speed, spend more money!
Question:	I embarrassed I don’t know this, but how do you tighten the arbor bolts? It seems like one loosens the other and there’s no good way to tighten it
Answer:	Don't be embarrassed - one side of the unit has a thread that is the REVERSE of the other. From memory it is the left hand side as you face the unit and so to tighten it you turn the nut as if you were loosening it. The reason is so the spinning motion of the motor doesn't allow the wheel to come loose. Counterintuitive but it works - enjoy!

Answer:	The grinder is rated at 6.25 amps, 10 amps would work fine, breakers are rated in amps, not watts...light bulbs are rated in watts.

Answer:	This grinder is a consumer grade while model 578008 is industrial grade. This has small stamped steel wheel flanges while the 578008 has machined wheel flanges. 578008's wheels will always run truer. Published motor specs can be deceiving, this grinder motor is a consumer grade 120 volt motor, the 578008 is an industrial grade motor that is capable of running on either 120 or 220 volts. Run on 220, the motor starts easier and lasts longer. Dust collection equipment is easier to hook up on the 578008's single exhaust exit vs this ones dual oval exits and 578008 is OSHA compliant with an OSHA approved switch. For Me, for the little money more they ask for the 578008 it's a no-brainier go with their industrial grinder model 578008 watch for discounts on the internet, I just picked up the 578008 for 220.00, no tax and free shipping. Answer:	No battery just a plug in for 115 volts.. maybe there is another model that is battery powered this one isn't. I also wouldn't get one that is battery powered. To run a grinder you need all the power you can get and a grinder this size wouldn't last very long with a battery.

If it was 100% efficient, which is not possible by the Laws of Physics, it would be 504 divided by 746 or .676 HP. Since most motors are only 90% efficient, that would be .676 times .9 = .608 HP. Answer:	The advantage to having a variable speed is two fold: The slower speed is generally used for sharpening and honing while the higher speed is for removing material faster and buffing/polishing with a polishing wheel or wire wheel. The slower speed creates less friction and therefore less heat while the higher speed (with a grinding wheel) creates more heat.

Answer:	No way in the world I would pay over $100 for this. Its probably a vendor just taking a chance at a high sales price when a cheaper vendor dropped out.

Answer:	The Rikon Slow Speed Grinder has one mounting hole on each side. The spacing is 6 1/4" center to center of the holes.

Answer:	Correct it will fit. I had to do some light sanding to remove some minor surface gunk and improve the fit on the arbor to get the cbn to fit. (600 grit on a board against the running motor’s arbor) Additionally I added the pair of matching domed washers to improve centering of the wheel.

Question:	is there a 115 volt version available
Answer:	Yes, Although the shafts are short so you will be working close to the housing, unlike the unit designed for buffing.
Question:	Is this thing 220v? Keeps tripping my outlets
Answer:	I sent two of these back. Not only does it trip a GFCI outlet or breaker, but there is serious (and dangerous) current leakage onto the case of the grinder. To test this, I defeated the ground wire and put my voltmeter on the case of the grinder and measured the voltage to ground. While operating the grinder, the voltage on the case ranges from 90 to 150 volts DC depending on speed. You will get a significant shock if you touch it without a functioning ground wire. This is the reason that the GFCI trips - there is significant currant leakage through the case to the ground wire. I consider this to be a serious and dangerous defect, and cannot believe that this machine passed basic UL testing. I would definitely not recommend this grinder until this problem is fixed.
Question:	Can I remove the metal guards and grinding wheels and then add buffing wheels and turn it into a buffer when needed
Answer:	Yes, it would be useful. With the variable speed rheostat it has a wide range of uses. Just have to choose the correct type of wheel for your application. The factory wheels are 40 and 60 grit I believe.
Question:	Why is it tripping my gfa outlets
Answer:	It will take up to a 1" wide wheel.

Question:	What kind of light bulb does it use
Answer:	The center line of the arbor is 7 3/8", plus or minus.
Question:	Where it made from
Answer:	I have 1 1/2" CBN wheels on my grinder and I used the washers that came with the wheels supplied with the grinder which take up 1" of the arbor length - not a whole lot of thread left, but it works fine. I took the guards off because CBN wheels do not have the danger that ALOX wheels have. I've been very happy with them.
Question:	what is the height form bench top to center of arbor
Answer:	It is 115v it has variable speed motors that I believe would be internally inverted in voltage
Question:	will a 1 1/2 inch CBN wheel fit this grinder? The 1 inch looks pretty close to the guard
Answer:	It has and Induction motor and will trip a ground fault plug
