User questions & answers

Question: What is the Torque rating
Answer: You MAY NOT use this device with 220 volts power without step-down transformer 220v to 110v. This transformer shoud be capable to transform at least 1KW (1000W) of power (twice of the device power consumption - 110v * 4 Amps = 440W for this drill). Such transformer is big ang heavy (of about 5-7Kg). If you connect 110v device with 220v power outlet using only plug adaptor you'll get smoke and completely dead device usable as garbage only. For market with 220v this MATRIX system is branded as "Multievo". Try to find it on the European market for example.
Question: What is the chuck diameter (?43mm
Answer: Variable speed = Trigger. "Would this work?" = Probably, however, the correct answer is that I can't really tell you based solely on the thickness of the material. Two other variable exist: the size of the hole and the quality of your bits. Most drills and bits out there can do (1) 3/8" thick hole through annealed high carbon steel, however, if you use cheap bits, and/or the wrong amount of pressure/speed, that bit won't drill another hole. I give that size hole simply because of the chuck size. If you get bits with a smaller shank and larger bore size you can do larger holes.
Question: Is this drill free wheeling when you let off the trigger
Answer: 3/8" chuck but if u can buy a 1/2" drill bit that has a shank turned down to 3/8" now u have a 1/2" drill or bigger because u can get other size bits with a 3/8" shank the end that goes into your chuck. FYI
Question: What is the maximum speed
Answer: For those of you who came looking to see if the product had been improved in recent years, literally zero of these comments are helpful. The manuals on the accessories (c. 2015) show a 10-20% LOSS of power in the corded model. I don't know, however, what the amps were on my original corded and whether or not this model is more powerful than the 2015 version.

User questions & answers

Question: Este taladro es de los que hay que ponerle carbonos de reeplazo
Answer: It appears that the lock button only works at full speed. I had not tried it at lower speeds before, so when I did, I found that it only engaged when the trigger was fully depressed (full speed). I'm not sure if that is how it is supposed to work, but that's how mine does. It is not an issue for me. This unt is lightweight with lots of torque....it's trigger is sensitive to speed variations, and the reverse works well too.
Question: Does this drill have a rubber cord that remains flexible in cold weather
Answer: I guess it would matter on what you planned on using the drill for. I assume your a person who just wants a drill to use occasionally around your house. Either drill would be a good pick for a DIY'er. If your looking for a lightweight drill and something that can manuver in tight area's I would suggest the Porter Cable. But the Skil would do a better job in certain situations because it has lower speed but probably heavier torque which would perform better in driving screws in or drilling large holes in hardwoods.with the larger chuck you would be able to use bigger bits which generally do not fit a 3/8 in. chuck. Go with the Skil , it's going to give you more options but it's not a huge professional 1/2 in drill that might be over kill on your household projects.
Question: Is it powerful enough to sharpen a mower blade with an attached sharpening stone
Answer: The drill does have forward and reverse, but I do believe drill bits are designed to drill in the forward motion. Their may be specialty bits that will drill in reverse, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
Question: Can this drilling machine used for metal and concrete
Answer: Yes. This drill has enough power to pass a bill through the House of Representatives and Senate without getting vetoed by the President.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this drill have an electric brake? When you let go of the trigger, does the bit stop spinning immediately
Answer: No, it doesn't, it will continue to spin after you let go of the trigger. At least when you just hold it in the air. In practice when you're drilling something in, I haven't found it to keep going, even with small screws.
Question: I have to drill some screws into mdf. There are no pre-drilled holes. Is this what I want
Answer: This drill has no clutch so unless you are pretty familiar with these drills it has the potential to get away from you when the screw bottoms out.
Question: is this drill powerful enough to attach the 'power cone' attachment for polishing the chrome wheels on my car
Answer: I'm not sure how much power your device requires but I've found this drill to be very powerful for all my normal drilling operations.
Question: I cannot insert the drill bit - My chuck is too tight and I cannot get it to open. I have followed the instructions in the manual. Help
Answer: At first I had the same problem, and after spraying a little WD-40 between the chuck and the ribbed area it opened immediately. Like magic! Hope this helps anybody with this problem.

User questions & answers

Question: can it drill 1/4 holes into plastic
Answer: ----Its not the drill, It's the BIT ----Hanson makes particular bits for drilling plastic, with any drill regardless of voltage, and theyre available most any good hardware store or Tap Plastics. They have a particularly pointed tip, so don't ever attempt to ever use them on wood or metal, as doing so would render it crapp for plastic use from then on. I have 1/8, 3/16, and 1/4 in my arsenal, and they pretty much cover any plastic, ABS, PVC, and especially Plexi-Glas projects I encounter. Yeah, they're a buck or two higher than regular bits, but they also wont crack your pretty plexi-glas project all to hell like a standard twist drill bit will.
Question: Does this drill have a built in LED light
Answer: Yes, it has a light. But it's worse than useless. It lights the area nearby, but casts a shadow on the spot you are drilling. The glare makes it actually harder to see what you're doing.
Question: Would you recommend this drill over the DEWALT DC970K-2 18-Volt Drill/Driver Kit (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002RLR0EY)? If so, why
Answer: I had an oportunity to use the 18V when I installed the railings on my father in laws staircase. I worked absolutely great but I had to keep switching batteries and kept one on the charger. He got it last Christmas. I told myself then the Dewalt was far superior to the two brands of portable drills I was using that I was going to get a Dewalt for myself. Honestly, when I ordered the 20V I assumed it was the same as my father in law had but his was the 18V. I would be happy with either but the 20V I have is smaller in size and lighter than the 18V that he has. Plus the 20V lithium batteries last a long long time before you have to recharge but then again replacement batteries are expensive. I just used the 20V to build my garage and so far I've only swithed batteries 5 times and that includes all the siding, drywall, wire routing. BTW I use the new star bit screws for everything they are far superior to phillips and I have given all my boxes of phillips screws away; along with my two "other brand" cordless drills.
Question: Does this unit come with one or two batteries
Answer: As of March 22, 2020 the Description clearly says it comes with two batteries... "...The tools weighs 3.6 pounds and contains 2 20 volt Max compact Lithium ion battery packs "

Ryobi D43K 5.5 Amp 3/8 Inch 1,600 RPM Variable Speed Trigger Corded Power Drill

RYOBI

Based on 56 reviews Check latest price

Product description

For diy work around the house or as a quick replacement for your more rugged tools on the professional jobsite, you can’t go wrong with Ryobi. For driving fasteners and boring holes near an outlet in your workshop, the D43K is one of the top tools for the job. It puts out up to 1,600 RPM, drawing only 5.5 amps of power. This speed is affected by the variable speed trigger. This feature gives you control of the drill’s power right at your fingertips, letting you switch from hole boring to light fastener driving with ease. Take that with the drill lock-on button, and you’ll be able to hold the drill as you like for optimal control. Even more accuracy can be had with the easy grip afforded to you with the rubber overmold. This molding increases the friction between the tool and your hand, enabling greater control in slippery condition. Whether you’re a diy specialist or professional contractor, you’ll find some use for Ryobi in your tool kit and beyond.

  • GRIPZONE OVERMOLD: The pistol grip of this drill has a rubber molding on it that allows for improved handling in slippery conditions
  • VARIABLE SPEED TRIGGER: You can adjust the speed of the drill to suit your job just by pulling the trigger harder. This allows you to switch from drilling holes to driving small fasteners in a pinch
  • FAST BIT CHANGES: The 3/8" keyless chuck allows you to make fast bit changes without any extra tools necessary
  • LOCK ON FEATURE: There is a switch on the side of the tool that lets you continuously drill without having to hold the trigger. This prevents fatigue and allows for different holding options for greater stability
  • BAG INCLUDED: A tool bag is included in this kit, letting you store your drill and other accessories like bits or fasteners (Not Included)

User questions & answers

Question: Is this drill reversible
Answer: Have no clue right now because I just moved to Spokane Washington and it's in storage. But I built a fence and it was driving screws though a 4×4 with no problem for over a hour without a charge.
Question: Does this come with its own "screwdriver" pieces? Wondering if I'd need to buy them separately
Answer: No the brushes are not replaceable, it uses a modular non-serviceable motor. Fortunately that motor is inexpensive, a brief web search found it around $14 but would take 15 minutes more time to replace, but it may be many years before it needs replaced unless used regularly in a contractor trade. Frankly at that point in time I would just replace the whole tool since these are not expensive as bare tools. Usually on Ryobi's site when you look up a tool # like P208, you will find a link to a parts diagram PDF on a green "Manuals" tab. In this case if you examine the parts diagram for P208, you will find brushes are not listed as a separate part # because they are not replaceable. You can also see the motor part # on that diagram and use it to do a web picture search to see pics of the motor and see they are not brush replaceable. Generally speaking most if not all of Ryobi's brushed motors do not have replaceable brushes. There may be exceptions on their larger (motor) tools. Soon this issue will be at an end for new buyers because slowly Ryobi is moving their whole lineup to brushless, except some multi-tool kits aimed at lowest price possible.
Question: Can this drill use on concert, example bricks
Answer: Yes. You can flip it upside down or use it with your non-dominant hand. Feel free to use the button to reverse the drill bit spin as well!
Question: Will the power cord be switched out with a Ryobi variable saw
Answer: You can drill and drive screws with this...

User questions & answers

Question: Collar diameter
Answer: I use a black and decker drill to do this and it works great. I bought a 1-1/2" x 18" auger bit from amazon years ago and I can set umbrella up in less than 20 seconds with no effort at all. about 6 years ago we were at OBX and I seen a girl who rents umbrella's do this. she would walk along beach and drill about 10 holes approx 8-10 feet apart and then drop the umbrells's into holes. Worked perfect and looked so easy and now thats what we do. In fact, the rest our family uses my drill for same purpose instead of struggling, and the umbrella is more stable if the wind picks up.
