The Atla jointer is a specific type of power tool related to woodworking, particularly in the context of joinery and carpentry. It falls under the categories of Biscuit Plate Joiners, Power Tools, Power Hand Tools, and is commonly used in the field of Tools Home Improvement. Here's what you need to know about the Atla jointer:
Biscuit Plate Joiners: The Atla jointer, also known as a biscuit plate joiner, is a specialized power tool used for joining two pieces of wood together. It is particularly useful for creating strong, hidden joints in woodworking projects.
Woodworking and Carpentry: This tool is commonly used by woodworkers, carpenters, and DIY enthusiasts who work on projects that involve joining wood pieces together, such as making cabinets, furniture, and frames.
Joining Method: The primary function of an Atla jointer is to create slots or cuts in the edges of two pieces of wood. These slots are typically in the shape of oval or football-shaped openings. After the slots are created, small, oval-shaped wooden biscuits are inserted into the slots. When glue is applied to the biscuits and the slots, they expand, creating a strong and hidden joint.
Alignment and Precision: One of the advantages of using an Atla jointer is that it allows for precise alignment of wood pieces, ensuring a flush and sturdy joint. This is especially important in woodworking projects where aesthetics and structural integrity are crucial.
Adjustability: Most Atla jointers are adjustable, allowing users to set the depth and angle of the cuts. This adjustability enables woodworkers to create various types of joints, including butt joints, miter joints, and edge-to-edge joints, depending on the project's requirements.
Power Tool: Atla jointers are powered by electricity, and they have a rotating blade that makes the cuts in the wood. They are known for their efficiency and speed in creating clean and accurate cuts.
Safety Precautions: When using an Atla jointer or any power tool, safety precautions should be followed. This includes wearing safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper dust extraction to minimize the risk of injury and exposure to wood dust.
Brand Varieties: Atla is a brand that manufactures biscuit plate joiners, but there are several other brands that produce similar tools with various features and price ranges. Users can choose a model that suits their specific needs and budget.
In summary, an Atla jointer, also known as a biscuit plate joiner, is a power tool commonly used in woodworking and carpentry to create strong and precise joints between wood pieces. It is an essential tool for professionals and DIY enthusiasts who want to achieve reliable and aesthetically pleasing joinery in their projects.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these blades work for a jet jj-6csx joiner |
Answer: | The dimensions for the jet joiner blades are slightly different. Type your model number into Google and look at the blade dimensions and compare. Idk of the difference will be problematic to your joiner or not |
Question: | How thick & wide is this blade |
Answer: | The blades fit an old Delta 5 1/2 inch jointer, and are about 1/8" thick. I found them very sharp. A feeler gauge is needed to set the knives correctly. |
Question: | Will these fit the Shopfox 1679 6" jointer |
Answer: | Sorry,I don't know shop Fox. They were installed on an old Delta jointer, adjusted and work very well. |
Question: | Do these fit craftsman model |
Answer: | Don't know. I installed them on an old Delta. I found them to be very sharp when they arrived, and after installation the jointer cuts very smoothly. My guess is that if the length is correct, they likely are installed much the same way, and will fit. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a 1971 Tyco HO-scale set. Are these joiners compatible |
Answer: | Should work, may have to use plyers or screwdriver to make them fit tighter |
Question: | This offer has 1 poor rating stating the buyer ordered code 83 & got code 100. do these work when joining code 83 to code 83? or are they transitions |
Answer: | Seems these are straight rail joiner that will work on code 100 and on code 83 rails. They are NOT transition rail joiners that will join code 83 to code 100 in such a way that the rail tops will be level. For that you would need something like Fleischmann 6437 transition rail joiners I think. |
Question: | Will these work on Bachmann Easy-Connect track |
Answer: | i dont run easy-track, but it should connect, cheap enough experiment |
Question: | Re: atlas ail joiners #179 ho scale : specifies 48 pieces. does each piece ave 4 joinmes as shown in phioto |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone Have a problem with no scribed lines on the jointer pal at all |
Answer: | It is designed to be used on a 6 inch jointer. The fixed portion of the jig goes against the fence, the rods limit the extension of the sliding portion to 6 inches from the fence. You could hold the knives with it but there may be some misalignment at the unsupported end. I have a 6 inch jointer so couldn’t say for sure, but the possibility exists for some variation at the unsupported end. |
Question: | What is the thickness of the square stock |
Answer: | The jig works great for me and I know what you're saying. I simply take a small piece of sand paper and clean the edge of the drum the knife rests against, to create a little bit of adhesion, then when you tighten the screw again you'll get it to sit properly.. it takes a little practice but it will work. |
Question: | Could it work with a 10 in jointer? What is the limitation |
Answer: | The MA50 15B has a round front end. If you are cleaning a narrow room, it may not reach the necessary corners. If the room is larger, then you could come from different angles to get the corners cleaned. We do offer a MA30 13B that has a square front end. The part# is 9087383020. Let me know if you have an email address that I can send additional information and some videos. |
Question: | How much of an issue is it with the Jointer Pal system that the knives tend to lift a little as the gib screws are tightened |
Answer: | It will vacuum some water missed going forward when it is pulled back. It is more convenient to turn the machine on a dime and do it that way. We use these in our Mcdonalds stores and after trying many brands and units of varying cost we have settled on this model. To vacuum water backwards during the scrubbing action you really want something like the Clarke Vantage 14 with the rotating head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eF0MeXAmT3U and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZJfq8xMQ_w |

- Drill up to six matching holes per setup for stronger joints
- Up to three 1/4", 5/16" or 3/8" holes using hardened steel bushing blocks
- Includes detailed instructions to product corner, edge and surface joints
User questions & answers
Question: | why is the holes not centered on the wood |
Answer: | The holes are a fixed distance from one edge no matter the thickness of the wood. To provide a good joint, the dowels do not need to be centered. Just be sure that you orient your two mating pieces so that the holes are aligned along common sides. |
Question: | What is the smallest and largest size board that can fit in the clamps |
Answer: | This jig accommodates boards from 1/2" to 1-1/2". |
Question: | does this come with bits and stoppers |
Answer: | No bits, I think there were stoppers, but you will want to get another set. If it comes with them, a screw presses into the drill bit to hold it in place, but not well. I highly recommend the stops that clamp on by screwing into itself sort of like a c-clamp |
Question: | How thick board can you drill |
Answer: | This jig accommodates boards from 1/2" to 1-1/2". |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the maximum thickness that can be used for the "sled" board and for the workpiece |
Answer: | Once you have the guide board clamped in, there are small pop-out feet that hold the board square to the table. I've sold the ones I had as I found them to be a royal pain to use. Made my own sled for straightening boards. |
Question: | How many clamps are included |
Answer: | Good question! Of course, the straight edged board the toggle clamps have to be screwed into would be at least 3/4" thick, right? That would mean you'd have to support the board to be cut with the same size board very near the blade of the table saw. Possible, but you would lose 3/4" of cutting ability. Also, you would need to have on hand many toggle clamps, and probably keep them screwed into your straight edge. The advantage of the E-z Pro might be that I only need an 1/8 or 3/16 strip of something next to my blade (they don't mention this in their product instructions, but without it, for sure the board you are cutting won't have a 90degree cut. I currently use 4 or 6 of this E-Z Pro, attached to a 6' long cement smoothing tool, very light weight aluminum, and super straight. I do like your idea, and I might just get 8 cheap toggle clamps and do exactly what you suggest! |
Question: | Does the board your trying to square up sit flush on the table saw? If not wouldn't that make the cut not 90 degrees |
Answer: | Hi, I used these for a heavy velveteen theater drapery fabric and it was fine. For a thin fabric the brass will just compress. |
Question: | I'm not clear where the advantage of these clamps is vs. just using a straight board with screwed-on toggle clamps |
Answer: | My dear: I am very happy to serve you! Size of the two, one is the surface of the product size. The first dimension is the dimension of drilling hole in it have a good day! |
Question: | what is the height of the flange? (i.e. how thick can the material be |
Answer: | Yes, the 1/2" grommets can accommodate a small carabiner. The 1/4" grommets are less likely to do so. |
Question: | what is the outer dimension of the grommet, including the lip beyond the hole |
Answer: | I have never tried it personally but, my best guess is to get a 5/8” or 17mm inside diameter grommet. The reason why I say that is, if the dowel outside diameter is 1/2” and the grommets inside is 1/2” then the fit maybe too snug to go were you need it to go. I’m no expert but I hope that this will help solve your conundrum. Have a blessed everyday. |
Question: | will 1/2” grommets accommodate a small carabiner |
Answer: | I installed this bar on an old 026 of mine |
Question: | Has anyone ever tried to insert a 1/2" dowel in these? Thinking about trying this for a project |
Answer: | No I’m sorry this will not fit a 021 . This bar is a 74 drive link u need a 68 drive link |

- Each stone has four surfaces, which can be adjusted to provide a fresh sharpening surface
User questions & answers
Question: | How do you use this product |
Answer: | You slide the block on the edges of the blade. .it hones the surface |
Question: | Can this item be use to sharpen my extra set of blades |
Answer: | you may have picked the wrong person to answer this question. I purchased this sharpener and was very disappointed as soon as I open the package. The tool itself was a lot smaller than it appeared in the ad. it is more of a hone for polishing up the edge of a sharp knife not something that is dull and has to be resharpened I didn't want this to be a total loss so I threw it in my tackle box. it looks like it might work for sharpening a hook. |
Question: | Will this work on a Shopsmith 4" jointer |
Answer: | works on my 3.25 hand planer and 13" planer. Haven't used it on my 3" jointer yet but see no reason why not. It is like a sharpening/honing stone. Not too good on serious nicks or chips. |

- 4-1/2-inch wood handle with ferrule
- 1/2-inch ball
- Ball head allows for consistent joint from every angle
- Made in the USA
User questions & answers
Question: | Would it be useful on ceramic tile joints |
Answer: | No made for out side brick work...grouting tile only with sponge at an angle 45... |
Question: | I'd be tempted to use this for striking caulk joints. Has anyone ever done this |
Answer: | I’d think that would be harder than a finger since dish-soap and water don’t stick to it but caulk will. I mean, I use a soapy or wet rag depending on latex or silicone caulk. |
Question: | Shouldn't it be called a mortar joint striker then |
Answer: | He’s got a good point. For marketing purposes, some clever Amazon and eBay sellers string together multiple names in a product title, so even a variety of buyers will find it and understand what it is, like this: Bon 21-179 1/2-Inch Ball Jointer Mortar Joint Striker with Wood Handle for finishing masonry joints Your sales might improve. |
Question: | What is it and what does it do |
Answer: | It is used by brick masons to finish the mortar joints between bricks. You pick one that is slightly larger than the space between bricks and then just run it across all horizontal and vertical joints. It compacts the mortar and gives a consistent concave appearance. |

- EASY TO USE: Drill a vertical 3/4-inch (1.9cm) hole in your workbench top to accommodate the holdfast and drop it in place, when arm contacts top of your stock board, give holdfast head above the top of round shaft a firm tap with a wooden mallet or rubber hammer until it jams tightly in the hole to hold your work firmly; When you are ready to disengage your work from the clamp, tap the backside of the vertical shaft of the holdfast opposite the arm to unjam from the hole and release your work
- HELPFUL TIPS: Holdfast will not hold if it is too loose in the dog hole or if your bench top is not thicker than 2.5 inches (6.4cm); If you extend the holdfast too high in an effort to hold something that is out of its working range, it will not be able to develop enough of a bind in the dog hole and will be loose; We suggest using a scrap of wood as a pad between the holdfast and the workpiece so the holdfast can be tapped hard without damaging your stock
User questions & answers
Question: | From the picture, there is a seam along the center. Does this mar the wood |
Answer: | I always use a piece of wood between my work piece and the hold down anyway to protect it, so if you do that the seam won’t affect it. |

Answer: | yes works good and has held up |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the blade thickness |
Answer: | Blade is Carbide and 1/4" thick as far as thickness of cut . Will make slots for #0, #10 and #20 Biscuits by setting depth stop correctly.Great tool and very well built! |
Question: | is the handle on the motor or the fence |
Answer: | The fence is on the front of the joiner. The handle is on top above the cutter. The motor is behind the cutters. |
Question: | I would like to know if it works in Europe 220 volt 50 Hz |
Answer: | you would either need to buy a step-down (220v->110v) transformer or buy a tool specifically marketed for 220v areas. |
Question: | My husband is making a table and mentioned he needed a joiner. Us this what he probably meant? I am clueless |
Answer: | If he is making a table he could have meant either a joiner, which is this hand tool, or a jointer, which is a stand alone machine.A joiner makes cuts into the edge of a board. You place a small piece of wood called a biscuit with some glue into this slot and into the matching slot in another board edge and glue the two boards together. The biscuit helps hold the joint together. If he meant a jointer, this machine is used to make the edge and usually one side of a board straight and flat. You can use other machines for the other edge and side once you have a straight a flat edge and side to reference them against. This joiner is a lot cheaper than a jointer. Anyone who does much woodworking needs or already has a jointer. You can see what one looks like by searching on Amazon and you can see if he has one in his shop. They look a lot alike. Such as http://www.amazon.com/Powermatic-Deluxe-6-Inch-Jointer-Quick-Set/dp/B000BHNC0C/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1355322797&sr=8-6&keywords=jointer for a stand alone floor model or http://www.amazon.com/Jet-JJP-10BTOS-10-Inch-Bench-Top-Jointer/dp/B001O0D6OC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1355322797&sr=8-3&keywords=jointer for a 'bench top' model.A joiner is useful, but there are several ways to work around not having one. Nice prezzie, though.I'll probably buy this joiner myself. |
