2 best stubby screwdriver with bits
A stubby screwdriver with bits is a versatile hand tool designed for driving and removing screws in tight or confined spaces. It consists of a short, compact handle and a detachable bit holder that accepts various types of screwdriver bits. Here's what you need to know about stubby screwdrivers with bits:
Compact Design: The stubby screwdriver's compact design, with a short handle, allows for easy access to screws in tight spaces where a regular-sized screwdriver might not fit. This makes it ideal for tasks in cramped quarters, such as electrical panels, automotive repairs, or DIY projects.
Interchangeable Bits: Stubby screwdrivers typically come with a bit holder that can accept different types of screwdriver bits. These bits can include Phillips, flathead, Torx, hex, and other types, providing versatility for various screw types and sizes.
Magnetic Holder: Many stubby screwdriver bit holders feature a magnetic tip. This magnetism helps hold the screw securely on the bit, preventing it from falling or getting lost during installation or removal.
Comfortable Grip: Despite its small size, a stubby screwdriver often has a comfortable and ergonomic handle design that provides a secure grip, allowing for better control and torque while turning screws.
Ratcheting Mechanism: Some stubby screwdrivers may have a ratcheting mechanism, which enables you to turn the screwdriver in both directions (clockwise and counterclockwise) without removing and repositioning the tool. This feature can save time and effort when working on fasteners that require multiple rotations.
Wide Range of Uses: Stubby screwdrivers are versatile tools suitable for a variety of applications, including assembling furniture, working on electronics, automotive repairs, and household maintenance tasks.
Portable and Convenient: The compact size of a stubby screwdriver makes it easy to carry in a toolbox or pocket, making it a convenient choice for professionals and DIY enthusiasts on the go.
Durable Construction: Quality stubby screwdrivers are typically made from durable materials, such as chrome vanadium steel, to withstand the demands of regular use.
Bit Storage: Some stubby screwdrivers come with built-in bit storage compartments in the handle, allowing you to keep a selection of bits readily available.
Maintenance: Like all tools, it's important to maintain your stubby screwdriver by keeping it clean and ensuring the bits are in good condition. Regular cleaning and occasional lubrication of moving parts can extend the tool's lifespan.
Overall, a stubby screwdriver with bits is a handy and versatile tool that can simplify tasks in tight spaces or when dealing with a variety of screw types. Its compact design, interchangeable bits, and comfortable grip make it a valuable addition to any toolbox.

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the length of the whole screwdriver |
Answer: | The screwdriver is 3 1/8" long. |
Question: | Does the shaft have a magnet in it strong enough to hold the bits and a screw |
Answer: | No, there is no magnet. The bits are held in with recessed balls with a spring, which holds the bits in strongly, but does not help with screws. The bits are well machined, however, so I find most screws (like computer rack screws) will sit well on the bit up to almost completely horizontal. |
Question: | Is this stubby made in America |
Answer: | Fred, I didn't think to check until you asked the question. I checked mine and it has no marks that identify it's origin. I looked at my Klein 6 in 1 and it wasn't marked either. I have a Klein electricians insulated set of screwdrivers and all of them are proudly marked "Made in the U.S.A.". That said, my guess would be that this screwdriver came from the far East, and I'm not talking about Massachusetts! If it was made here, I'm certain it would be advertised as such. Happy New Year! |
Question: | Does this provide storage of the bits inside the handle |
Answer: | The bits are stored in each end of the shaft. The shaft pulls out of the handle and is reversed to use a different size bit. Each bit has a common and Phillips tip. One end of the shaft is 1/4 inch hex and the other is 5/16 inch hex. |
