Negative Hook Angle for Fine Finishes with Sliding Miter Saws

This thin-kerf blade's 60-tooth alternating-top-bevel (ATB) configuration features teeth that face both left and right. The blade's teeth also feature five-degree, negative hook angles, which helps prevent the blade from being too aggressive. This configuration also works to push your work piece down and towards the fence of your saw for smooth, accurate feeding. And because thin-kerf blades remove less material than standard carbide blades, they require less horsepower to produce smooth, accurate results when cutting.

This blade is designed for optimal performance when crosscutting wood that is 1/2 to 2-3/4 inches thick, and it also performs well in laminate. This blade can also rip wood or be used with chipboard and plywood, and it can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 5/8-inch arbor and produces a 0.090 kerf.

Well-Balanced, Anti-Vibration Design

This Freud blade is precision balanced and pretensioned for truer cuts under heavy loads. It also features laser-cut, anti-vibration slots that reduce chatter for a cleaner finish, longer blade life, and reduced noise while you work. And because the entire blade is laser cut from high-strength steel, you can trust that it will stay stable, flat, and true, even after prolonged use. Furthermore, this well-balanced, anti-vibration design means there's no need to use add-on stabilizers with this blade.

High-Density Carbide for Maximum Cutting Performance

This thin-kerf saw blade's 60 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "crosscut blend." Formulated to help the blade maintain a sharp cutting edge in the face of demanding crosscut applications, this blend is extra hard--due to including more high-density tungsten carbide than other TiCo blends--and it still offers the full mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.

With teeth that start out sharper and deliver improved edge retention, the blade can go longer between sharpening, and will hold up longer--saving you time and money.

Perma-SHIELD Coating Reduces Friction and Heat Buildup

Built to withstand tough use in less-than-ideal conditions, this blade is finished with Freud's red Perma-SHIELD--a non-stick coating that reduces friction and nearly eliminates the heat buildup that excess friction can cause. By providing complete thermal insulation, this coating protects your tools and your work surface. And it resists binding when the blade is used for large-volume cutting applications, which reduces blade warp.

As a lubricating feature, Perma-SHIELD allows the blade to spin freely while reducing stress on the motor and carriage of your saw. In addition, this coating helps prevent debris collection and resin or "pitch" buildup. Since gummy pitch buildup causes extra drag on the motor of your saw, less buildup is another little convenience that translates into longer tool life and longer blade life. It also means less downtime for blade cleaning, so you get jobs done faster.

This industrial saw blade is backed by Freud's limited lifetime warranty.

User questions & answers

Question: Can compound miter saw blades be sharpened
Answer: The screws that came with my jig are 3/4" long and the jig is 3/8" off of the base, so a 1/2" base should work fine. The screw actually enters the base only about 3/8", the rest of the screw being housed in the base.
Question: Has anyone sharpened this blade, with or w/o Harbor Freight sharpener
Answer: That's just under 3/4" wide and 3/8" deep, so it will fit and slide smoothly in a standard 3/4" x 3/8" miter slot. Ben BolluytKreg Tech Support
Question: What does the red coating version do the raw metalic surface one doesn't and vise-versa
Answer: They are 10-32.

User questions & answers

Question: number of teeth? picture is different than description
Answer: Apparently so, but it is not addressed in the instructions. There are u-tube videos showing how, e.g., https://youtu.be/w81H_HmEM3g. I did not use on a vaulted ceiling, but was quite pleased with the jig for my application.
Question: Are you able to bore the center to 30mm
Answer: 45 degrees plus 45 degrees = a 90 degree angle
Question: Can These Be Recycled
Answer: Yes, but it is cheap plastic. I did not realize it came with one when I ordered the Crown-Pro so I ordered the Starret protractor. The Kreg one (at least to me is flimsy and difficult to use), The Starret one is great and is sturdy and easy to read all angles including spring angles.
Question: does a 15" blade actually measure 15 inches across the blade
Answer: Aluminum.

User questions & answers

Question: I just want to one blade for my compound bevel miter saw would you recommend this? Thanks
Answer: I have no complaints with the D12100x. I’m a trim carpenter and impressed with the blade. I’ve always had either 60 or 80 tooth blades and as long as they were sharp, I really couldn’t tell the difference in cuts.
Question: Will this cut exotic wood tha tis 4" that is at the top of the Janka scale? Or would it be better to buy a higher tooth count? Thanks
Answer: I can’t answer about this specific blade, but I have a Forrest table saw blade and it’s really worth the extra money. I use the Freud on my chop saw and am very happy with the performance. I probably wouldn’t go with Forrest for my chop saw unless the price was very close.
Question: Is this American made
Answer: The hook angle is 7 degrees. I wanted to know the correct answer and found it from manufacturer's product page: http://www.diablotools.com/products/product/D12100X
Question: how thin is the actual cut kerf
Answer: It is the standard 1/8" thickness.

User questions & answers

Question: does this blade remove
Answer: I get very little to next to nothing tearout with various species of wood but this is in conjunction with a home made zero clearance insert on my DeWalt DWS780 compound saw. I do a lot of crosscutting and this combination works really well for me. I have pretty much standardized on using Freud blades for my tables saws and track saw etc, the main thing is to find a good sharpening service to keep them performing well.
Question: Hole diameter
Answer: The official answer to the kerf width for this Diablo D1280x blade is .118”, slightly wider than 3/32. It has a 15 degree forward tooth angle and is a full 12” in diameter. I carefully compared this blade to the Freud Industrial equivalent which is 11 3/4 in diameter, 15 degree tooth angle and a slightly narrower kerf at .094”.
Question: Does it cut alluminum
Answer: This blade will cut laminate but it is not made for it.
Question: is this good for miter angle cuts
Answer: YesI use on a slide miter saw as well as a fixed miter boxGood blades been using for years

Question: I have miter saw with 1" Arbor and bought this saw blade without noticing the Arbor is 5/8". Is there a soltuon to fix this without returning it
Answer: Yes. Great blade by the way. Freud makes some very good blades.
Question: Has anyone tried cutting laminate planks with this blade
Answer: All of our blades are re-sharpened unless damaged (loss of teeth), so yes they can be re-sharpened.
Question: Will the 10", 60 teeth, atb grind, 5/8" arbor, .090" kerf work with skil spt70wt? skil manual says blade kerf s/b >= .092 (so close
Answer: From my understanding, it helps keep the blade cool and aides in preventing g-up. I’ve used both. For circ saws and miter saws, I prefer the red coating. Table saws, like the raw metallic. Hope this helps
Question: Anyone using this on a dedicated compound miter saw
Answer: Is a preference. I do like the "m" silver ice coating better (more durable) for production environment. Also, I'm using freud blades for decades and have yet to see any advantage in the red teflon coating. But again is preference, some people like the red perma shield better.

Alternating-Top-Bevel Teeth Combine with Unique Side-Grind for Smooth Finishes

This thin-kerf blade's 96-tooth alternating-top-bevel (ATB) configuration features teeth that face both left and right--a versatile setup that's ideal for crosscuts and general use. And thanks to unique side-grinding technology, the blade produces glass smooth surfaces when crosscutting hard- and softwoods. It's a strong pick for miter box applications, and because thin kerf blades remove less material than standard carbide blades, they require less horsepower to produce smooth, accurate results when cutting.

This blade is designed for optimal performance when cutting materials that are 1/4 to 1-5/8 inches thick, including hard- and softwood, chipboard, and plywood. The blade can also handle ripping and working with laminate, and it can tackle thinner or thicker materials. However, some loss of surface finish may occur when it is used outside its ideal range. It has a 1-inch arbor and produces a 0.091 kerf.

This thin-kerf saw blade's 96 teeth are finished with tips made from Freud's application-specific TiCo high-density carbide "crosscut blend." Formulated to help the blade maintain a sharp cutting edge in the face of demanding crosscut applications, this blend is extra hard--due to more high-density tungsten carbide than other TiCo blends--and it still offers the full mix of improved corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and impact resistance that you expect from TiCo.

User questions & answers

Question: can this be used in a sliding miter saw
Answer: Yes. In fact I had been struggling with another brand's 140 tooth blade for fine cuts, and the guy at Home Depot who does all their sheet cutting told me to "throw it out." too many teeth were no good. I did, and used the Diablo 60 tooth and it did a nice fine cut.
Question: Im putting up a deck railing with the trex deck and I'm wondering if this will cut that plastic material
Answer: Yes it will cut Solid surface / Corian countertops.
Question: I am considering buying this for my Delta table saw for cutting cast resin blanks. Does is really polish the material
Answer: You looked at the wrong product. The 40 teeth is in a two pack. The 60 teeth is more expensive there.
Question: What is the hook angle
Answer: Yes, it work well for plywood, soft and hard wood (maple and oak)

User questions & answers

Question: Do the heat expansion slots on your blade look like 4 hooks (as pictured) or 3 checkmarks? Mine has the latter, so I was just wondering
Answer: no, sorry
Question: Will it work/fit on a saw with 16 mm arbor? I understands that 5/8" is not exactly 16 mm, but I was wondering if 16 mm equals to 5/8 in this case
Answer: No, but I am sure this blade will do the job! This is be highest quality blade I have ever used.
Question: does it work for ripping oak
Answer: should work
Question: Has anyone actually used this blade on Melamine covered particle board? I have a few cuts to make with a Skilsaw
Answer: This is NOT a miter saw blade. You want a blade with with a neutral or negative hook (rake) (+3 to -7). This is a table saw blade period. Talk to a good on-line dealer like Tool Nut or talk to a manufacturers rep if you can. Sliding miters need a different blade than chopsaw type miters. Wood types also plays a roll, of course.

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone used this blade to cut vinyl plank flooring
Answer: This is a 12 inch blade with a 1" arbor(hole). Usually for miter or radial arm saw. Most table saws use 10 " blade with 5/8" arbor. But if your table saw uses the bigger blade with larger hole then it shouldn't be a problem.
Question: I can cut any kind of wood
Answer: 5/8 is standard arbor for a table saw.
Question: How well does this blade hod up when cutting laminate flooring? I burned through a 12" 80T Diablo blade doing only a few rooms of laminate flooring
Answer: I used it on the cheap cabinet plywood from HD and the cuts came out great with no splinters, but like the previous answer, of you're going to be doing lots of finish, I think the higher tooth blades are not that much more $.
Question: About to install about 400 sqft of laminate with pre-attached pad. Should i buy two blades? Thx
Answer: I use it to cut 1/2x1" aluminum flat bar, makes a very good cut.

User questions & answers

Question: Want to use this blade to cut 2" thick brass, Will this worl
Answer: This is listed as used on slide saws, though it has a +10 degree kerf. I use this on my slide saw and works fine. Not as good as a forrest chopmaster but a thinner kerf, which is supposed to be easier on your saw. This blade does leave some burn marks mitering hard woods.
Question: Looking for an easy, fast, clean means of cutting aluminum window screen frames would this be the best option
Answer: With the carbide inserts on each tooth, it will cut aluminum so plastic should be a snap.
Question: Can these cut iron , steel , and stainless steel
Answer: I would avoid this blade for anything other than wood. I recommend the LU84R011. It's a combination blade that I use on my table saw for a myriad of things and I get super smooth cuts from it without excessive heat and paint transfer.
Question: I need to confirm this item is for non ferrous metal..the item pictured is not, it doen't match the description...please confirm. Thank you
Answer: Hook Angle is a positive 5-Degrees. Freud designed the LU74R010 Industrial Thin Kerf Crosscut blade as a 80 tooth 10" fine crosscut blade that features 80 alternating top bevel teeth set at a 5 degree positive hook angle, which is a configuration that lends itself to very clean crosscuts in a variety of materials, and is condusive for use in a table saw, radial arm saw, compound miter saw, or sliding compound miter saw. The body uses a laser cut expansion slots for low noise and vibration, and has an "Permashield" non-stick coating said to reduce heat build up. The C4 carbide teeth large enough to withstand many resharpendings.
