12 best metal cutting blade

A metal cutting blade, often used with a circular saw, is a specialized tool designed for cutting various types of metal. It's an essential accessory for any professional or DIY enthusiast working with metal materials.

Here are some key points about metal cutting blades:

  1. Material: Metal cutting blades are typically made from high-speed steel (HSS), carbide-tipped steel, or other specially formulated metals. These materials are chosen for their durability and heat resistance.

  2. Tooth Design: The teeth of a metal cutting blade are usually designed with a special shape to optimize cutting efficiency and reduce heat buildup. They may have a TCG (triple-chip grind) or ATB (alternate top bevel) design, depending on the specific type of metal they are intended to cut.

  3. Tooth Count: The number of teeth on a metal cutting blade can vary.Blades with more teeth provide smoother cuts, while blades with fewer teeth are better suited for faster, rougher cuts.

  4. Coating: Some metal cutting blades come with specialized coatings, such as carbide or diamond, to enhance their cutting performance and extend their lifespan.

  5. Diameter and Arbor Size: Metal cutting blades come in various diameters to fit different circular saws. The arbor size of the blade must match the arbor size of the saw for proper installation.

  6. Application: Different metal cutting blades are designed for specific types of metal. For example, there are blades optimized for cutting steel, aluminum, copper, or other alloys. Using the right blade for the material is crucial for achieving clean and efficient cuts.

  7. Safety Considerations: When using a metal cutting blade, it's important to wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection. Additionally, ensure that the workpiece is properly secured and that the saw is stable.

  8. Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning off metal shavings and inspecting for damage, is important to ensure the blade continues to perform optimally.

  9. Replacement: Like all cutting tools, metal cutting blades eventually wear out and will need to be replaced. Signs of wear include dulled teeth, chipped edges, or reduced cutting performance.

  10. Storage: When not in use, metal cutting blades should be stored in a dry, clean environment to prevent rust and maintain their cutting efficiency.

Remember, always follow the manufacturer's recommendations and guidelines when using any power tool or accessory.

User questions & answers

Question: Has anyone cut a section of r.r. track with this blade
Answer: I have not and would not recommend it. You wouldn't get an inch into the r.r. track before you burned up the carbide teeth. A bandsaw would be more suited for that task, or even and abrasive cutoff saw.
Question: Will this blade replace an abrasive chop saw blade
Answer: This blade cannot be used on a chop saw. The RPM on a chop saw is too high for this blade. The maximum RPM this blade can be used with is 1800. A chop saw would use 3800 RPM.
Question: What revolutions neede to cut metals
Answer: You could go as slow as around200 rpm and the "slow speed" metal cutting saws, made for carbide toothed blades work fine but don't install this on a saw meant for an abrasive blade. The RPMs are too high and will destroy the blade in short time, unless you only cut wood or aluminum but not steel. Also be aware that small stuff, like1/8" round stock bundled, will catch the teeth and not work well. But for angle iron, tubing, etc, it works great.
Question: Will this work for exhaust tubing
Answer: This is a metal cutting blade for tube steel, angle iron, flat bar, structural steel, unistrut, EMT, steel studs and other ferrous metals.

User questions & answers

Question: inch, 80T (4935561) Max Rpm
Answer: Max RPM: 1800
Question: Can I use this on a table saw
Answer: Thank you for choosing Irwin Tools. Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality and service. Yes the IRWIN Tools Classic Series Steel Table / Miter Circular Saw Blade, 10-Inch 180T (11870) will work on either a table or Miter saw.
Question: Hi, is this blade thin kerf or full kerf ? Thx
Answer: This is right about 3/32, so it's classed as a thin kerf
Question: Many people are having good luck cutting metal roofing panels. Anyone know what gauge steel that is? Can I cut 20 gauge sheet metal with this
Answer: Metal roofing and siding usually runs aroound 28 ga. I stack a dozen sheets and cut them all at once. Here's my previous review...."Bought mine to cut steel roofing. Stacked 12 sheets of ribbed 28 ga. by 3' wide steel and cut all 12 sheets in one pass in matter of seconds and NO sparks! Used sabre saws and nibblers in past. No comparison for straight lines and speed. Have also been using it to cut angle iron and bar stock. Many times faster and cleaner than my 14" cutoff saw that uses an abrasive disc. Not having a shower of sparks and the accompanying fire hazard is a huge benefit. After several roofing jobs and many misc. cuts, it is still as sharp as new. If it ever does get dull, any saw shop can sharpen it for around $10 or less. The info says for thin steel but I consistantly cut up to 1" by 6" solid steel flat bar stock with no effort whatsoever. The 48 tooth blade doesn't cut thick steel any faster than this 68 tooth and the 48 tooth will not work as well on thin sheet steel. As a matter of fact, the 48 tooth is dangerous on thin stock as it will over-feed and grab. If you are cutting various different thickness of steel, buy this one, and skip purchasing the 48 tooth. This 68 tooth blade is all you will ever need. For best results give it a shot of WD-40 on both sides of body in between cuts. A little bit of lubrication makes cuts effortless. Yor will find yourself actually holding back on it as it virtually self-feeds into the material. After one job this blade paid for itself many times over. Will never be without one again. Only regret is not buying one years ago." By the way, 55 gal. drums are usually 20 ga. I have even cut 1 1/2" drill steels with it.

Diablo

Based on 311 reviews Check latest price

Product description

Look no further than the Diablo line of circular saw blades from Freud for your multipurpose cutting needs. This blade, a 7 1/4 inch, titanium carbide metal cutting blade, can cut up to 1/4 inch of mild steel. It does this with the help of several onboard features that give you a smoother, faster cutting experience. The teeth are tipped with titanium tungsten carbide, giving them enough hardness to cut through several of these steel sheets without issue. There are laser etched vents on four points of the blade, too. These provide you extra stability for smoother cuts. They also cut down on vibrations in the middle of a job, preventing the blade from retaining as much damage as blades without these etchings. Working with the triple chip grind system onboard the Diablo metal cutting blades, you’ll see that you have never ripped through steel faster. Only with Freud can you do the best job possible through wood and steel.

For a super high-impact blade that powers through ferrous metals with clean, burr-free cuts, look no further than the Freud D0748F Diablo 7.25-Inch Ferrous Metals Saw Blade. Answer: Very thin kerf of .055
Question: would this blade be good for cutting off rusted bolts on a car sway bar
Answer: Yes it will fit your dewalt wet tile saw. The only thing I would check is the arbor size. The cyclone has a 5/8” arbor and I believe the dewalt is 5/8” too. If that’s the case your good to go.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the required rotational speed for the 10" steel demon
Answer: I've cut 0.125" wall 1.5" steel tubing. Works pretty well but won't last for more than about 15 cuts in this rather strong steel. My band saw is better but I always keep one of these blades on hand for precision cuts. On thinner metal, like butter.
Question: So confusing max rpm is 5800 or 1800 ? why I saw it in my local homedepot it says 5800 rpm on its package
Answer: That is the limit of its abilities. The key is to set your saw depth deep, so each tooth is in contact with the steel very briefly. If you set the blade shallow, as if you were cutting 1/4" plywood, you will overheat the teeth and be lucky to cut 12" before the blade is destroyed.
Question: I want to ask if this blade will work with evolution mitre saw
Answer: Lol....I operate On or Off...I prefer the full ON position to get the job done and move on!!
Question: Was gonna try this on my hitachi compound miter saw. It is 5,000 rpm has anyone used this blade running at this rate
Answer: 12 Pt., SAE Wrenches: 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 13/16", 7/8", 15/16", 1", 1-1/16", 1-1/8", 1-1/4"
