3 best 12 inch metal cutting saw blade

A 12-inch metal cutting saw blade is a type of circular saw blade designed specifically for cutting metal materials. Here's what you need to know about it:

  1. Size: As the name suggests, the blade has a diameter of 12 inches (or approximately 30 centimeters). This larger size allows it to make more substantial and deeper cuts compared to smaller blades.

  2. Tooth Design: Metal cutting saw blades have a distinct tooth design optimized for cutting through metal. They typically have fewer teeth than wood-cutting blades, and the teeth may be made of carbide or other high-strength materials to withstand the rigors of cutting metal.

  3. Material Compatibility: These blades are specifically engineered for cutting through various metal materials, including steel, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. They are not suitable for cutting wood or other materials, as doing so can quickly dull the blade.

  4. Safety Precautions: When using a metal cutting saw blade, it's crucial to follow safety precautions, including wearing appropriate safety gear such as safety glasses and hearing protection. The cutting process can produce sparks and generate heat, so it's essential to take precautions to prevent accidents.

  5. Circular Saw Compatibility: Ensure that the 12-inch metal cutting saw blade is compatible with your circular saw. Check the arbor size (the hole in the center of the blade) to ensure it matches the arbor size of your saw.

  6. Cutting Speed: Metal cutting blades often require slower cutting speeds compared to wood-cutting blades. Be sure to adjust the speed of your circular saw to the recommended setting for metal cutting to achieve clean and safe cuts.

  7. Clean Cuts: A well-maintained and sharp metal cutting saw blade will provide clean and precise cuts in metal materials. Regularly inspect and maintain your blade to ensure optimal performance.

  8. Cutting Lubrication: In some cases, using a cutting lubricant or coolant can help improve the cutting process by reducing heat buildup and extending the life of the blade.

  9. Replacement: Over time, metal cutting blades will wear out due to the abrasive nature of cutting metal. It's important to replace the blade when you notice a decrease in cutting performance or excessive wear.

In summary, a 12-inch metal cutting saw blade is a specialized tool designed for cutting various metal materials with a circular saw. It's essential to use the right blade for the job to ensure safety and efficiency while working with metal.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this blade work on a Delta mitre saw
Answer: No, this saw is designed for use with an Abrasive blade that operates ~4,000 rpm. A carbide blade should be used with a metal cutting saw which operates at less than 1,500 rpm.
Question: Will this cut wood? If so how well
Answer: My guess is that if the roofing metal is flat and that you use a protective layer, (could be just a strip of masking tape) where the saw base plate contacts the painted metal, it should be fine.
Question: Does it cut mild steel
Answer: Nope, you can't, it only has cutting deth adjustment.
Question: Can I cut acrylic with this blade
Answer: If you go to Eastwood auto supplies, you will find the same blades at a decent price. Just search for 4-3/4 metal cutting saw. Since they brand it themselves, it won't be referred to as the Galax Pro. There is also the Genesis GAMCSB471 4-3/4" Metal Cutting Saw Blade which is identical and available at Home Depot. Just make sure if you try any other, and I warn you there aren't any I was able to find, that you measure the arbor, which I believe is 3/8 inch to make sure the blade can be mounted securely.
