Anyone who's ever used a router understands the satisfaction that a cleanly cut rabbet or mortise can give. But if you're working on small-scale projects, such as jewelry boxes or models, that monster three-horsepower fixed-base router with the 1/2-inch bit is simply overkill.
That's where the Dremel 335 comes in. This plunge-router adapter is meant to be used with the Dremel rotary tools (models 400, 398, 395, 300, 285, and 275), which accommodate 1/8-inch diameter bits. If you already own one of these tools, buying the attachment is a great way to get an instant router without having to shell out the extra forty or fifty bucks for a single-purpose machine (that may be too big for what you're doing anyway).
Assembling the attachment is simple: just remove the housing cap from your Dremel, reassemble the collet nut, then place the tool into the router attachment. The tool is secured in the attachment with a mounting nut and wrench (both included).
The attachment features two plunge depths, which are locked in via a rotary hand grip. Setting routing depth can be a little tricky: it's a good idea to practice on scrap until you get a feel for it. The clear base gives you good stability and lets you see exactly what you're doing, as does the narrow profile of the Dremel tool itself. The attachment also includes an adjustable edge guide that works very well.

It's all about the depth that you set the plunger at. I did one practice mortise before trying it on my expensive doors and it was really like cutting through butter. Any of the router bits should work. I'm currently using the Dremel 650 1/8 Staight Routing Bit, because that was recommended to me. I'm so pleased with this plunge router attachment. Now I need to find some other projects to work on. |

Now you will have to remove the RTX from the plunge attachment to install tools in chuck but that is no big deal. |

| Answer: | There is only one bit the set that will cut a flat bottom with flat sides "straight profile" and it is only 3/8 diameter. Thus the grove would have a maximum width of 3/8 and a depth of 4/8 inch. The only way to cut the width you are requiring is to make 2 passes but I'm not sure how well that would work with foam board, it would all depend on how dense the foam board is. Also if you are using a Dremel tools you would need to secure a fence on each side of the cut so as to keep it straight and the proper width. Sorry I cant be of any more help. blessings Jim |

| Answer: | Must say no, they work great on wood. Never had a reason to try them in plaster. You can buy a carbide cutter or even a diamond bit, they work on ceramic and glass. Myself I use 3 different Dremel's, plus I use the cable on 2 of them. Hint : go slow, and cool the area cool as you cut. Also wear a dust mask and safety glasses. Good luck. |

| Answer: | As pictured, there are cut-outs in the side of the attachment. They allow you to see the cutting bit and your guidline. You may need to pause and blow out the dust, but it works. |
