12 best granite saws
Granite saws are specialized tools used in the cutting and shaping of granite and other hard stone materials. These saws are essential for professionals in the stone fabrication and countertop installation industries. Here is some information about granite saws and their related components:
Types of Granite Saws:
- Bridge Saws: Bridge saws are large, stationary machines with a bridge-like structure that holds the saw blade. They are used for precision cutting of granite slabs into specific shapes and sizes.
- Handheld Circular Saws: Handheld circular saws with diamond-tipped blades are used for making straight cuts and shaping granite pieces.
- Tile Saws: Tile saws are smaller and more portable. They are primarily used for cutting thinner granite tiles and pieces.
Diamond Blades: Granite saws typically use diamond-tipped blades. Diamond is one of the hardest materials on Earth, making it suitable for cutting through the dense and tough nature of granite.
Water Cooling: Many granite saws come equipped with a water cooling system. This serves two purposes: it helps lubricate the blade and prevents it from overheating, and it reduces the amount of dust generated during cutting.
Safety Equipment: When operating granite saws, operators should wear appropriate safety gear, including safety glasses, ear protection, and respiratory protection, especially when cutting dry to minimize dust exposure.
Accessories: Various accessories are available for granite saws, including:
- Clamps and guides to ensure precise cuts.
- Dust collection systems to minimize airborne particles.
- Different blade types for various cutting tasks and materials.
- Blade guards for added safety.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the longevity and performance of granite saws. This includes blade inspection and replacement, cleaning, and checking the water cooling system.
Usage: Granite saws are used for various applications, such as cutting granite countertops, shaping stone for architectural purposes, creating custom stone pieces, and more.
Professional Use: Granite saws are commonly used by professionals in stone fabrication shops, construction companies, and countertop installation businesses. They are also utilized in the monument and gravestone industry for precise engraving and shaping of granite memorials.
Cost: The cost of granite saws can vary significantly depending on the type, size, and features. Industrial-grade bridge saws can be quite expensive, while smaller handheld or tile saws are more budget-friendly.
Granite saws play a crucial role in the stone industry, allowing for precise cutting and shaping of granite and other hard stones. They are essential tools for professionals who work with these materials, ensuring that the final products are both aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound.

User questions & answers
Question: | Can two 8' rails be fasten together |
Answer: | i will assume you mean, "will this saw work with tile?" yes. i bring this saw to all my tile jobs. it cuts without water, and is a must have when doing large tile, 12 x24 and greater. i use the saw for small cuts. outlets, corners, etc. it works well, and should be with every tile job. i would not suggest using it for every cut, you could but that is what the traditional wet saw is for. buy it. it's good to have.... don't be stupid... wear your safely glasses and hearing protection. when your old, feeding the birds is awesome! especially if you can see and hear them!!! |
Question: | what size of blade is needed? And does it come with one |
Answer: | That blade is rated at a max of 12000 rpm's. This saw would put it right up to or above that. Probably better off using that blade on a wood cutting circular saw. |
Question: | When cutting a 45 degree bevel will it cut through 1.25” granite |
Answer: | Yes, but with limits. I keep the tile wet with a spray bottle. Keeping itwet, but not submerged like a wet saw. Hope this helps. I've cut 1 1/4 inch thick granite using this method ....... It works really. |
Question: | This come with the 8 or 12 ft rail |
Answer: | From Makita's website it look like the 4100NHX1 is only 9.6 amps vs 12 amps for the 4100NH. Kinda makes sense as the 4100NH is a little more expensive. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How do you change the blade on this |
Answer: | There is a blade lock and it should have come with a tool to change it |
Question: | Gfci corded |
Answer: | Yes,it is |
Question: | Can this make a curved cut, say for around a toilet application |
Answer: | The way to make inside curves is to cut parallel "fingers" and snap them off. Then use the saw blade to grind it to the line. Remember that the blade is cutting from top so you'll need to either flip the tile to grind the back or use a grinder. You can use a regular tile saw that way as well. |
Question: | Could you cut geodes with this saw? With a diamond blade |
Answer: | It would certainly cut into the geode, but depending on the wall thickness as to whether it will cut into the cavity. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will a cupped blade fit in it for cutting out oval sinks holes for granite counter tops |
Answer: | Not in my opinion |
Question: | can this cut through 1/2" concrete slab |
Answer: | Yes, the premium 4-3/8" diamond Blade allows the user to cut ceramics and stone materials up to 1 3/8' deep wet or dry. |
Question: | is 4 1/2 or |
Answer: | It comes with a 4 3/8 blade. A 4 1/2 blade for 20mm arbor can be used. Most 4 1/2 blades are 7/8, 20mm or 5/8 arbor with a bushing to fit the different sizes. A 4 1/2 blade is a tight fit. I knock out the 5/8 arbor, set the blade in place, then put in the 20mm bushing and seat it with the mandrel nut. You can get the blade on with the 20mm bushing installed with a bit of jiggering. |
Question: | what is the deepest cut this saw will make? The cheap Ryobi I bought at the Depot wasnt quite deep enough with a 4" blade |
Answer: | Hi. CORRECTED ANSWER: I measured the depth on my blade (which is slightly worn) and it is 1-5/16 inch (1.32 inch) for a straight up cut. For an angled cut, it will be less of course. I used it to cut through floor tile with a concrete/metal mesh base layer. There is absolutely no room in the blade guard to try an even slightly larger blade. It is a tight fit. The saw performs well and is easy to control as long as it is used with water flow. I tried to use it dry, and in less then a minute the whole house was filled with a thick cloud of dust. |

Answer: | You can get the hose at any hardware store. Reuse the brass connector. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this drill through stainless steel sink under the granite |
Answer: | I used mine to drill through subway tile in the shower stall. It made short work of that but for stainless steal you better talk to a plumber or plumbing supply. |
Question: | What is the id depth |
Answer: | It would be about 1-1/4 inches deep inside the hole saw |
Question: | Will it cut through clay house bricks? I understand I will have to break out the core left in the brick to get the necessary depth |
Answer: | I'm sure it will. It cuts through porcelain tile, which is much harder. It will get dull much faster than a carbide tipped drill bit, which I think would be a better option for drilling through brick. |
Question: | Can this bit used for drilling wallboard and wood |
Answer: | This bit is made specifically for drilling (grinding really) in stone products. There are many other hole saws listed on Amazon, made for use on wood, and most likely would be a little less expensive also. |
