Question: | I am needing a jig for 4(in.)x4(in.)x10(ft.) wood post. i realize this wouldn't work, but can anyone recommend one that can? thanks in advance |
Answer: | As it states in the description, deflects chips and connect 2 grippers for better control of large pieces. Check the video: https://d1y6jrbzotnyjg.cloudfront.net/V3MSA/cfd7863774ee4067ae4a3c816a4fd10e/V1/ad7607ded66c4f77898c5981786beb86/ShortForm-Generic-480p-16-9-1409173089793-rpcbe5.mp4?Expires=1552759553&Signature=TXTx0fF1p4Uzt68tNOVHzaO1K4UUbz1qJoX9WVsDe~ReJnbou3MLRqyMf2qM06MydXQMud4lf2zChbFp-YQbr7t731MJ2pn~tgK64bjXMcE1ko8UnnYlzgaBtLVGA4l4YXyBvhEk9ZREzLwvu0hXURT9-OHG-TkCcq1XN-stsmg_&Key-Pair-Id=APKAJ62XWKZ35EOVO4XA |
Question: | Is it possible to use this kit with material thicker than 1-1/2 inches? I ask because the site offers spacer blocks for user with "thicker" material. It would be nice to use the kit on 2x4s for example |
Answer: | The "deflector plate" is actually a gravity operated "heel" that simply drops down and hooks on the material you are pushing. There's considerable grip in the rubber pad portion of the push block, but when you reach the end of a board or similar, the heel drops down and catches on the edge of wood, permitting easy/secure push through of the wood. |
Question: | how would i get a long piece of wood to position in the clamp, like an 8ft 2x4? I see short pieces stand up in the jig, would a long board be flimsy |
Answer: | We have a video showing how to build a GRR-RIP BLOCK Stand that magnetically mounts to your jointer! Watch it on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/3qUBe90H-Q8 |
Question: | What country is this made in |
Answer: | I don't have the Bench Dogs push pad but I do own 2 of these Gripper pads as well as several "plain" push pads. In my experience, the GRR-Rip Block is different in 2 ways. The Gripper has 4 "heel hooks" that hang over the edge of your work piece to get a better push on the end stock. And it can also be used on its edge (it have been formed with a 90 degree angle) so you can push stock on a router table or to stabilize wood while re-sawing on a band saw (and this is where those hooks really help). But the price of the Gripper is 2-1/2 times the Bench Dog, so the question would be: is the GRR-Rip Blockr twice as good as the Bench Dog. And I would probably say no to that. But the ultimate decision is of course yours. Hope this helped. |

Question: | Replacing 10yr old 1.25" overlay euro hinges w/ blum b039c355b.20 1.25" o-lay soft close: exist. hole too shallow, will this jig have correct depth |
Answer: | The KREG SDK-C2SS-700 2-Inch, #8 Coarse are Stainless Steel Screws. These are a great buy at $56.99 for a quantity of 700. If you priced Stainless Steel Deck Screws at Home Depot they would cost you a small fortune. |
Question: | Is it possible to use 35mm concealed hinges on a door with a 1x2 frame? I keep drilling through the edges no matter what setting I try |
Answer: | The screws P/N SDK-C2SS-700 are made in Taiwan. We constructed a 25ft X 30ft deck with ACQ/QCA materials, and consumed approximately 6 boxes of 700ct kreg screws using the Kreg drivers with no problems with the drive, or breaking off. |
Question: | According to amazon, $29 option includes jig and 35mm bit(see more prod' details)why wld i want $44 or $45 option? what's different or extra |
Answer: | Don't know, but if I were to guess I would say the lesser grade "304" otherwise Kreg would probably advertise them as "316." |
Question: | Does this come with the drill bit |
Answer: | Hello,The answer is no unless you move the jig for every hole you need to drill. Like Jeff said you would have to improvise for this size of handle. Thanks,Josh |

User questions & answers
Question: | beginner easy |
Answer: | If you mean a scribe or a wheel, then no. There is a little divot in the end of the ruler where you can rest the tip of a sharp pencil to mark a line. That would be accurate enough for most work. |
Question: | How long does the specialized drill bit last? Looks like you must buy from Kreg. Also, can I find these screws elsewhere |
Answer: | Not at all. Has 90 and 45 degrees only. ..and even in 90 and 45 it's works bad. .because it has this movement even when you tite it with the gold screw. ..it can be 88 or 92 so it's not square. ... |
Question: | i'm having difficulty deciding between this and the K4MS. Both around the same price although the K4MS seems to have extra items. Suggestions |
Answer: | The Kreg Foreman requires the use of the Kreg Quik-Bit which is included in the Kreg K5 Jig Package. |
Question: | Have you tried the K4 as well? Which do you like better |
Answer: | I started with the Jr. then moved to the K5 Master system. I am about to move up to the Foreman because I'm doing so much. This will be much easiest than using a drill, it will take it out of you after hours of drilling pocket holes even on the K5. |

Kreg Jig K5
Advanced Features for Building with Wood.
Fast, Simple Setup
When you’re ready to get started building, the Kreg Jig K5 makes it simple. Just select your screw based on the thickness of your wood, set the stop collar using the drill bit setup block, pull the spring-loaded pin to adjust the drill-guide block, and then set the workpiece clamp.
Easy Thickness Adjustment
The Kreg Jig K5 offers our simplest workpiece-clamping system ever. The ratcheting clamp simply slides into place against your workpiece. Then, you lift the handle until you hear and feel two 'clicks' and that’s it. Now your clamp is set until you change to a different material thickness.
Support with Built-In Storage
Two large support wings can be attached to both sides of the K5 base. This way, long workpieces get solid support and won’t tip. Plus, there’s a large storage compartment under the lid in each wing where you can keep your drill bits, screws and accessories close at hand, but out of the way.
Swiveling Dust Collection
The Kreg Jig K5 comes with a removable dust port that swivels from side to side so that you can position it exactly where you want it, and then attach it to a standard vacuum house. This keeps your work area free of chips and debris, makes drilling easier, and prolongs drill bit life by reducing heat.

Take control of your table-mounted router for quick, accurate, reliable, and repeatable setups
The Precision Router Lift helps you elevate your routing capabilities by providing precise control when making router setup changes or changing bits. The lift replaces the standard insert plate in a router table (the 3⁄8" x 91⁄4" x 113⁄4" plate fits all Kreg router tables plus many popular brands) and accepts any of 20+ popular router models—without the need adapters or modifications—in a high-performance carriage that you raise and lower from above the table.
With the Precision Router Lift, there’s no more reaching under the table to make adjustments or change bits, plus vastly improved control over all adjustments, large or small. Instead, simply use the lift’s included crank to adjust the height of your router bit easily and precisely from above the table. This makes adjustment fast, simple, and accurate so you can set up your router faster, and then dial in the exact bit height you require using the Precision Router Lift’s built-in micro-adjustment scale. The lift also simplifies changing bits by allowing you to do that from above the table, as well.
Precision is more than part of the name with this lift, too. The Precision Router Lift is designed so that every full revolution of the adjusting crank moves the carriage—and your bit—exactly 1⁄16", though adjustments down to thousandths of an inch are possible. A built-in micro-adjust scale can be zeroed out at any point to establish your baseline bit setup, so you can make exact bit height changes, and readjust to the exact same setting confidently every time for repeat cuts.
Whether you’re upgrading an existing router table, setting up a new one, or even building your own custom table, the Precision Router Lift is the perfect routing accessory. It offers the precision you demand to achieve exacting routing standards, along with the fast, easy performance you want in order to spend less time setting up and more time routing.
- Allows precise above-the-table setup changes for table-mounted routers
- Above-table collet access allows fast, easy, above-table bit changes
- 3⁄8" x 9 1⁄4" x 11 3⁄4" (9.5 mm x 235mm x 298mm) Hard-anodized aluminum plate won’t Sag, resists scratches
- Fits all Kreg Router tables and many competitive brands
- Bearing-guided carriage provides smooth operation

Rip-Cut
Universal Sled is compatible with the Kreg Accu-Cut
The Kreg Accu-Cut is great for making straight, accurate, splinter-free cuts in plywood and other sheet goods. The saw sled accepts almost any circular saw, which allows you to turn your ordinary saw into a precision cutting tool.
One great feature of the Accu-Cut sled is that you can remove it from the Accu-Cut track, and install it on any Kreg Rip-Cut. The sled slides right onto the Rip-Cut Guide Arm and locks in place. That allows you to make long cuts, such as ripping a sheet of plywood lengthwise, with the edge-guided accuracy of the Rip-Cut.
Best of all, switching from the Accu-Cut to the Rip-Cut doesn’t require any changes to the setup on your Accu-Cut sled. No moving the saw or adjusting anything. So, when you’re ready to switch from edge-guided cutting back to track-guided cutting, all you have to do is slide the sled off the Rip-Cut, and set it back in place on the Accu-Cut track.

Product description
Cut perfect miters consistently with Kreg's Precision Miter Gauge System. A number of unique features makes this one of the most precise miter gauges on the market today. Factory calibrated accuracy starts with a gauge head that is machined on a computerized milling machine for absolute precision. An easy-to-read Vernier scale enables precise angle adjustments up to 1/10th of a degree. Five patented bar adjusters take up the play in the miter slot for a perfect fit. A 24" fence section with patented Swing Stop and self-adhesive measuring tape is included. Factory calibrated.
Weve found that even on high-end saws, the miter gauge is sometimes not the best it could be a situation easily resolved by the folks at Kreg. You probably know them for their ingenious pocket hole system, but this miter gauge is worthy of fame in its own right.
Its not like any weve seen before, with a handful of features that work together to give you the ability to set an angle cut accurately to 1/10th of a degree and beyond that, to adjust to 1/100th of a degree (hats off to you if youre that precise!)
Setup takes a little bit of time and patience, but the results are well worth it. Its got a super accurate length scale with a magnifying lens cursor, similar to those on good table saws, and the curved flip stop can be used with the fence as is, or you and a pair of pliers can modify it easily for permanent use with a sacrificial fence. This clever curved design lets you slide your stock right under it. The slot bar has five patented nylon screws along its length that let you custom fit it to your table saw slot, completely eliminating any play.
Its got the positive stops you expect, at 0, 22.5, 30 and 45 degrees, and theyre marked by preset holes that accept a tapered brass pin, which locks in the angle with absolute precision. The gauge is marked with diamonds every five degrees for great legibility, too. But what sets this gauge apart from the pack is its Vernier scale, allowing you to set any angle in tenth-of-a-degree increments. Unless you have a degree in mathematics, dont try to understand the process its confusing and non-intuitive. Instead, just follow the step-by-step directions, and youll get absolute accuracy every time.
And when Kreg calls something a "micro-adjustment" mechanism, they really mean micro. With this miter gauge, you can actually increase your angle by 1/100th of a degree by turning a nylon screw that increases the space between the fence and the gauge. For each .001 inch you put between the fence and gauge, you increase your angle by 1/100th of a degree.
Kregs really hit the accuracy bullseye with this miter gauge, and adding it to even a so-so saw will give you fantastic results. Take your time with setup and follow the directions for the Vernier scale, and youll be as taken with it as we are. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this miter gauge fit the slot in a Sears |
Answer: | The bit itself will last a lifetime as long as you do not abuse it or break the tip off. HOWEVER, regardless of what some have stated here, the sharpness of the bit itself is relative to the types of wood you use. In soft woods such as pine, it will stay sharp for quite sometime. However if it is used in woods that are abrasive such as qrt sawn white oak, or white oak in general, Bubinga, Purple Heart or other such woods, it will dull quickly and have to be sharpened. You can send the bit to Kreg and they will sharpen it for you for $10.00 bucks plus $10.00 shipping. That's $20.00bucks, but when you add in what it us going to cost to ship that one bit to them, which right now is $7.13 you are going to pay $27.13 for a bit that you can buy for much less. As a PROFESSIONAL Master Joiner and Cabinet Maker, I use this system quite regularly and have done so since Kreg first began to sell them. I know how to sharpen them and do not send them out, nor would I. It's not cost efficient. |
Question: | Will this item work on a grizzly table saw go |
Answer: | The "extra items" are some screws & plugs. Yes, there is some value, but it is limited. The K5 is an easier tool to use and you will need to purchase many more screws & plugs according to the way you use it. A handful of screws & plugs is nice to give you some idea of what is available, but will not last long. Frankly, I don't understand why they still price the 4 & 5 the same, or, even why the 4 is still offered. |
Question: | Would this be good at doing wider board crosscuts |
Answer: | I've used and owned various Kreg jigs (K2000, K3, K4 and K5). They have gotten better with each new model. An exception to this was the K3 versus the K4. I liked the K3 better than the K4 because of the clamping lever in the front (K3) versus the back (K4). The K2000 also had the lever in the back. It is better to have the clamping lever in the front especially when working with larger work pieces. It is good to see Kreg go back to the front lever. I like the K5 best because of the ratcheting clamp. You don't get a face clamp like you do with the K4MS Jig Master System, but the Automaxx clamps are better anyway. I like the 6" better than the 3" clamp. The right angle clamp works great for assembling cabinets also. If you are going to be doing small work (1/2" or less) get the Micro Drill Guide and large work (11/2" & larger) get the HD Jig. They will fit in the K3,K4, or K5 Jigs. To make a long story short get the K5 Jig over the K4 Jig. |
Question: | Will this work with dewalt 10" portable table saw |
Answer: | Both the blue body is plastic and a metal ruler with a brass screw to hold the ruler in the selected slot you choose from T square 45 angle or depth gauge Regards David |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this work on particle board |
Answer: | For boards it will work well. If you are cutting sheet goods I would still recommend a cross cut sled, all depending on width and length of course. I isn't designed to hold board tight but its more of a stop for many cuts the same size. There is a little play in the stop, so it is not perfect, but it is workable. |
Question: | Doing small - medium sized DIY projects, what is the best jig for me? This one, the Kreg R3 Jr. or |
Answer: | It will work with any saw that has a 3/4*3/8" miter slot |
Question: | NEVER MIND ** I can't find a way to remove the question, but if anyone else is curious I did some digging around on the Kreg site last night and came across a video of the "micro", basically yes this larger set can do a 1/2" however the micro produces smaller holes which is preferred with thinner stock. I hated spen |
Answer: | The kit I purchased had the jig,a bit, two drawer box supports, two clamps , and handle /knob drilling guide. As I do custom install and have to modify in the field the entire kit has been helpful and accurate all while being easy to adjust and set up on the job . Would recommend highly! |
Question: | What does this include that the regular kit ($99) does not include? Are those items essential or useful? Trying to decide which kit to get. Thanks |
Answer: | Yes. I am a beginner, and was seeking a user friendly joining method. Kreg pocket-hole Jig is a handy tool. Practice a couple of holes on scrap wood to perfect your spacing and usage. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I noticed that some one mentioned an app that will tell what type of pocket screw to use with what ever thickness and type of wood what is its name |
Answer: | I have not heard about an app, but Kreg Tools has a template that does this. Current price is 9.99 at Kreg.com. Inside on the top lid of the pocket hole screw kit is a quick reference guide also. Just a note, I find it works best for me to round down the wood size. |
Question: | Must I use Kreg screw? Can I use other type of screw 'non kreg' type |
Answer: | I have used Kreg screws for other non-pocket hole projects as well I love them so much. The screws are very durable - I have unscrewed and screwed in the same screws with no evidence of wear and the square drive heads I've never stripped. They're also, in my opinion, pretty nicely-priced - I accidentally bought two types of wrong-length screws for my first pocket hole project but I've later used those for other things! Very high quality self-drilling screws! |
Question: | Do you set the depth guide to the drilling board, or the receiving board? They may differ in thickness. Thanks |
Answer: | STEP ONE: Measure the width of your work piece. The first step in using your Kreg pocket hole jig is to measure the thickness of the material you will be drilling into. You will use that measurement for the next two steps. For our example we will use a measurement of 3/4 inch.Your pocket jig includes drill, collar and allen wrench.STEP TWO: Set up your drill bit.The drill bit that came with your Kreg pocket hole jig has two pieces: the drill bit and the stop "collar" which slips onto the smooth part of the drill bit.Your pocket jig also came with an allen wrench that fits into the hole on the side of the collar. Use your allen wrench to loosen the collar by turning it to the left. As soon as you can move the collar up and down the drill bit, stop turning.Look at your drill bit. The very tip of your bit will drill a short, narrow hole. The wider, longer section in the middle of the bit will drill a bigger hole. That bigger hole is the "pocket" that will hide the pocket holes screw.Find the mark that's right for your plan.Your pocket jig has scale markings from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch molded right into the base to make setting up the drill bit very easy.Lay your drill bit in the slot of your pocket jig. Line the very first part of of the wider section of your drill bit with the 3/4 inch marking. While holding your bit in place, slide the collar toward the tip of the drill bit until it is stopped by the front end of the pocket jig. Make sure the hole in the collar is visible.Still holding the bit in place, use your allen wrench to tighten the collar in place by turning the allen wrench to the right.Once your collar is tight, double-check that your drill bit is still lined up at the 3/4 inch mark.Your drill bit is now ready to drill the right depth required by your plan!Insert the drill bit into your drill and tighten it securely. The Kreg pocket hole jig has adjustments for drill angle.STEP THREE: Set up the drill guide on your pocket jig.We will use the same 3/4 inch measurement from Step One. Loosen the brass nut near the top of your Kreg pocket hole jig, so that you can move the drill guide up and down.Find the 3/4 inch mark on the side of the drill guide, and then tighten the brass nut to hold the drill guide in that position.Your drill guide is now ready to drill your pocket holes at the correct angle.STEP FOUR: Position your piece in your Kreg Pocket Hole Jig.With the adjusted drill bit securely fastened in your drill, put the drill bit into one of the guide holes. Start the drill. When it reaches full speed, slowly lower it into the wood.To keep wood chips and sawdust from accumulating in the guide hole, bring the drill bit partway up several times as you are drilling each hole.Your Kreg Pocket Hole Jig makes fast work of these holes.Unclamp and move your workpiece so that you can drill the rest of the pocket holes needed on that piece. |
Question: | What length and thread do you use mainly for 3/4" plywoods and 3/4" hardwoods |
Answer: | 1 1/4 length screws, I find that the coarse threads are the best about 90% of the time. Cheers |

Pocket-Hole Screw Kit
Square-drive prevents bit slipping while driving
When you’re building a project, there are few things more aggravating than having your driver bit slip, spin, and strip out the screw head. All too often, that leaves you with a screw you can’t drive the rest of the way in or back out, so you’re stuck. Kreg Screws have a square-drive head that works with a #2 square drive bit to drive screws without the driver slipping. That means you can drive every screw completely, quickly, and with confidence.
Flat-bottom head seats firmly in pocket hole
Ordinary woodworking screws and drywall screws have a head with a conical shape on the underside. The head on a Kreg Screw is perfectly flat on the bottom. That flat shape mates perfectly with the flat pocket in a Kreg pocket hole. So, when you drive a Kreg Screw into the pocket hole, it the force is applied straight toward the screw tip, presses evenly on the pocket, and holds the joint tightly together, without deforming the pocket, which could split the wood.
Smooth shank draws the joint together
The threads on a Kreg Screw stop partway up the screw shank, which leaves a smooth area below the screw head. It’s there for good reason. When you drive the screw in, the threaded portion grabs into the workpiece you’re attaching to, pulling the screw in. The other piece glides freely over the unthreaded part of the screw, allowing that piece to pull tightly against the mating piece — without interference from unnecessary threads.
Self-tapping tip drills its own hole without splitting
When you assemble a joint with Kreg Screws, the pocket hole is all you have to drill. There’s no need for a pilot hole in the mating piece. That’s because Kreg Screws have a self-tapping tip that 'drills' its own hole, so the screw drives in quickly and easily without splitting the wood, like ordinary screws often do. This makes assembly much easier, too, since you don’t have to worry about whether your pilot hole will line up correctly.

User questions & answers
Question: | how many screws |
Answer: | Mine came with just a few sample screws but I have an assortment of a couple thousand screws so it was no matter. I make furniture in a home shop so I mostly use construction screws and furniture grade FH screws in #6, #8; in 1&1/4, 1&5/8, and 2&1/2 inches. |
Question: | What is the primary difference between the R3, R4, & R5 units and which would be better for an advanced cabinet maker |
Answer: | If you build cabinets, furniture or any think to do with joining wood the one I would recommend is the K4 or K5. The K5 is the newer version which incorporates some innovative additions. The other jigs in the system are more portable, but a lot slower to use. The K4 is perfectly adequate for my shop. Buying the kit and the "briefcase" of screws will get you up and rolling fast. The video is very enlightening. Good luck. The R3 Jr. is fine for casual use and some specialty uses as explained in the offering but if you do a lot of woodworking with Kreg the K4 & 5 are more accurate and repeatable. |
Question: | Do you have to use their screws with this tool or can you use regular wood screws you buy at any hardware store |
Answer: | I vehemently dislike the Kreg style pock hole screw (which are "modified truss" head screws) for the simple reason that I dislike square drive screws. There are other manufacturers which offer pocket hole style screws but with a No. 7 or 8 torx drive (T15 size). These are much more user friendly than square drive screws which require the drill driver to be perfect aligned with the screw otherwise the square becomes rounded out. The torx drive screws allow for some wiggle room with the alignment won't damage the screw head. |
Question: | If this is more expensive than the R3 and clamp separately and the clamp is smaller why get this kit |
Answer: | Because with this kit you become irresistable to women, your beard becomes the envy of lumberjacks and your dog can jump 4 feet high on two legs. Who would not want all of that? |
