12 best coaxial cable tools
Coaxial cable tools are essential tools used in the installation, maintenance, and repair of coaxial cables, which are commonly used for transmitting cable television signals, internet data, and other RF (radio frequency) signals. These tools are crucial for ensuring proper connections and minimizing signal loss in coaxial cable installations. Here are some key tools used in working with coaxial cables:
Coaxial Cable Cutter: Coaxial cable cutters are specialized cutting tools designed to cleanly and precisely cut coaxial cables without causing damage to the inner conductor or insulation. They often feature a spring-loaded mechanism for ease of use.
Coaxial Cable Stripper: Coaxial cable strippers are used to remove the outer insulation and shielding from coaxial cables, exposing the inner conductor and dielectric insulation. They come in various types, including adjustable and rotary strippers, to accommodate different cable sizes and types.
Compression Tool: Compression tools are used to crimp connectors onto the stripped ends of coaxial cables. These connectors can include F-connectors, BNC connectors, or RCA connectors. Proper compression ensures a secure and low-loss connection.
Cable Crimper: In addition to compression tools, cable crimpers are used to create a secure connection between coaxial cable and connectors. Crimping tools are particularly common for coaxial cables used in networking and telecommunications.
Coaxial Cable Tester: Cable testers are used to check the continuity and signal integrity of coaxial cables. They can identify faults, breaks, or signal loss in the cable, helping technicians diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
Connector Removal Tool: Sometimes, it's necessary to remove connectors from coaxial cables. Connector removal tools are designed for this purpose, allowing technicians to disconnect and replace connectors as needed.
F Connector Wrench: An F connector wrench is a handy tool for tightening or loosening F-connectors, which are commonly used in coaxial cable installations, such as cable TV connections.
Tone and Probe Kit: This kit is used for tracing and identifying specific coaxial cables within a bundle or network. It emits a tone on one end of the cable, which can be detected using a probe on the other end.
Cable Management Tools: These tools include cable clips, cable ties, and cable organizers, which are used to secure and manage coaxial cables neatly and prevent tangling or damage.
Cable Strain Relief Tools: Strain relief tools are used to properly secure and protect coaxial cable connections, reducing the risk of damage due to bending or pulling.
These coaxial cable tools are essential for professionals and DIY enthusiasts working with coaxial cables in various applications, including telecommunications, cable television, satellite TV, and networking. Using the right tools helps ensure reliable and high-quality signal transmission while maintaining the integrity of the coaxial cable system.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will the supplied compression connectors work with rg6q coax cable |
Answer: | The crimper works perfectly with rg 6 and rg 11 , just flip the bottom between the two.. And the wire stripper is simple to adjust also with indicated sizes on it..the only tool I use ... |
Question: | How well does this kit work with rg11 cable? i know it's much thicker then rg |
Answer: | The "old" type ox coax connectors will crimp on - now they compress on the cable. I have both the crimp and compress tools and like the compress much better. |
Question: | is the rg59 connector for the old style coax cable |
Answer: | This set is only for compression fittings! The cutter, of course, is for any type of cable preparation for either. The fittings that come with the set are compression fittings as well. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Did anyone have trouble inserting the cable all the way until the white insulation is flush with the bottom of the screw head |
Answer: | Dunno, but these are VERY CHEAP! If you tighten them too much, the will break off...avoid these at all times! |
Question: | the crimper does not work, it just pushes down on the cable end but does not seal the end please provide instruction |
Answer: | I would buy a cable stripping tool. It will do a much better job for you and it is much faster. Plus you are in no danger of cutting your fingers and it is not very expensive for a cable stripping tool. |
Question: | How can i tell exactly what king of coax cable i have? it is a standard cable for cable tv as far as i know |
Answer: | I would return them. |
Question: | How many connectors come in the kit |
Answer: | As others have mentioned, these do not *easily* fit the slightly thicker RG-6/Q (quad shield) cable, but they do work. The connector has an internal metal cylinder that is supposed to insert in the shielding space (between the inner and outer insulation) , and make contact with the shielding. Two things are required. Firstly, prepare the cable with the center copper wire extending about an inch past the end of the inner insulation. This will allow the center to protrude past the end of the connector (trim it to size after the connector is crimped on). Secondly, push the connector onto the cable as hard as you can. You want to have the internal metal cylinder make contact with the shielding, and insert itself as far as it can between the inner and outer insulation. Crimp, then trim the central copper wire to size. |

How To Use The Stripping Tool
1.Push the cassette out of the housing, push from the front of the cassette. 2.Cassette is reversible, one side is available for RG-59/6 and another side is for RG-7/11.
3.For stripping coaxial cable: a.Insert the cable until it aligns with the cable guide. b.Insert your index finger into the stripper's finger ring, rotate the stripper by counter clockwise 3-5 times. The cable insulation is cut while you are turning the stripper. c.Open the jaws and remove the cable. Pull away the outer jacket and dielectric to expose the inner conductor. d.Stripping distance is designed for 6mm, for each dielectric and inner conduct.

User questions & answers
Question: | The connectors slip off easily after i fully compressed them on to rg6 cables . anyone have the same problem |
Answer: | I have one and it says "Made in China or Taiwan" on the packaging. |
Question: | Will these connectors work for rg-6 quad shield cable |
Answer: | I suppose so. The length of travel in the tool should be sufficient to handle most, if not all, RG6 compression connectors. I bought some Belden connectors that were supposed to be suitable for RG6 quad cable, but the cable end of the connector was not as wide as the Klein quad connector's. I returned the Belden connectors and had great success with the Kleins. After cutting away the jacketing with a Klein radial coax cable stripper and peeling back 3 of the 4 shields with the flathead screwdriver on my Swiss Army knife, the inserting of the stripped cable in the Klein connector is fast and pretty much goof proof. You have to apply some force when inserting the cable into the connector, but after you push a dozen or so it becomes natural. Crimping the connector with the Klein compression tool (VDV212) takes 2 or 3 seconds: 1 to 2 seconds to verify the alignment, and 1 second to crimp. |
Question: | Does this stripper work with RG11 coax cable |
Answer: | this ad is for the VDV212-008, and this tool DOES NOT adjust, and WILL NOT WORK with the PPC type connectors....I fell into this trap of mis-leading reviews when I bought this tool....it works, but only with Klein connectors. |
Question: | Is the compression tool adjustable for longer rca connectors |
Answer: | It is clear enough to see ok, but it works best in a darkened room. |
- Includes tools needed to prepare, connect and test coax cables
- 2-Level Radial Stripper is designed for easy single operation coax cable preparation
- Compact Crimper quickly and reliably crimps compression F-connectors (6-Pack included)
- Coax Explorer 2 tests and verifies the connections (good/open/short)
- Patented universal sleeve compression F-connectors (RG6/6Q) install up to 5X faster

Answer: | Fits perfectly. Have a X. Be sure that is the size you order. They list phone by number. Easy to put on. |
