User questions & answers
Question: | Anyone know the dimensions of the eye and would the handle for this fit the smaller 22oz. carpenter's hatchet |
Answer: | Not sure but it's awfully tough. With a die grinder you can recut the waffle face after a period of Of time |
Question: | Anyone know what steel the head is |
Answer: | USofA baby! |
Question: | Where’s it made |
Answer: | for a small axe out in the woods, i prefer this to the carpenter axe. the hammer head also comes in handy. |
Question: | For a small axe to keep on my person working in the field, should I buy this or the lighter, shorter Carpenter's Axe |
Answer: | The weight is just the trowel (including the paracord on the handle). The sheath adds another ~40g of weight and the whistle/flint add another ~27g. My initial impression having just taken this thing out of the package is: who the hell designed the packaging on this thing? managed to cut myself on the plastic twice despite being careful. Also, the sheath is trash as far as I can tell - there's no secure way to store the flint/whistle, the trowel doesn't easily slide in and out (though with some finagling you can get it free or back into the sheath without destroying the sheath in one shot), and lastly there are two clasps to hold the handle of the trowel? No idea why you'd need velcro AND a snap on two separate straps right on top of one another (unless I'm missing something super obvious but....). There was another question here about using this to drive stakes, I wouldn't after seeing this. I was hoping it could perform that task as well but I'd be hesitant at this point. Saw blade might be good in a survival situation but we'll keep packing in a better saw. Cutting blade side is crap, line cutters seem kinda meh but could help if trying to cut the paratinder cord, the depth gauge could be useful for something... definitely looks like this will dig a hole to hide your business but after looking at this I see why all the "hardcore" guys use these types of setup https://www.amazon.com/UST-Aluminum-Campsite-Camping-Survival/dp/B075DS4H4Y/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=hiking+trowel&qid=1590691157&sr=8-4 (weighing in at just .64oz). I'm going to hold out hope that in actual practice this saw will be useful for tinder and that the other 'functions' of this trowel beyond the digging feature work at least half as well as I expect them to. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a Vaughan 28oz rigging axe with a teardrop shaped eye will this fit? If not, can you recommend one that does |
Answer: | No, the handle is oval. I used this to replace my handle for my Vaughn 20oz head and fit great for a month, till the wood completely dried, now the head is loose again. Seems as though the hand was made while still somewhat green. Hope that helps Jack! |
Question: | Will this handle fit a 24oz. Vaughn framers head with the rectangular mounting hole |
Answer: | One could always buy a large handle and cut down the "wedge part" to fit a hammer head? |
Question: | How do I find a handle to fit my hammer? The slot in my hammer is rectangular 1" x |
Answer: | I believe that is what I bought it for. |
Question: | Will this fit the vaughn 32oz framing hammer head |
Answer: | len 1.5 inch wid .75 inch at top |
