Answer:	Each pack covers approximately 225 square inches depending on the amount of reveal you leave. Usually 3/4” is a normal reveal. You will need to measure your project roof to determine how many square inches, then purchase accordingly. Please allow extras for cutting or breakage. We suggest you purchase enough to complete the project because each bag varies in color.

Answer:	I used elmer's wood glue. Installed my shingles on a birdhouse, which is outside year round. No problems.

Answer:	A brad nailer may be a little too big causing the shingles to possibly break. We suggest a pin nailer or glue.

Answer:	Yes, these are cedar and can be used outdoors. We suggest using waterproof glue or sealant to adhere them to your structure to enjoy them for years of birdhouse use.

***** How to apply asphalt roofing ***** You will need sharp scissors, a tacky wood glue (or hot glue gun, but it's not necessary) and a good eye for symmetry. Start by laying the first row upside down flush along the bottom row of your roofing area. Start with the left side of your strip, and cut off any excess. Lay the second row parallel to it and translated up by about half an inch, to line up the top of the tab slot with the top of the previous row. The edge of the shingle strip should line up with the edge of the roof, but likely only for this row. Then, lay the third row staggered over to the left by about half a shingle, lined up the same way, with a small section of the strip overhanging the roof. Cut this section off, trimmed to the roof edge. Lay the fourth row so that it is lined up with the second row's shingles as exactly as possible, and then the fifth row lined up with the third, and so on. Optional: For a sturdier roof bond, use staples to secure the strip, on sections which will be covered by the next row. When nearing the roof peak, cut a strip to meet flush with the edge if necessary. Make sure the opposite side of the roof is finished the same way before continuing. To cap the roof, cut off single squares, fold them evenly in half, and glue them overlapping the previous shingle by one quarter inch along the roof peak. For a neat, pressed look to your freshly glued shingles, lay a board over the top and apply weight until the shingles dry. Answer:	Most roofers use 15 degree coil nails. You didn't say why he said "he uses 0 degree coil nails". For asphalt shingles I only use 15 degree. For shaker type roofs I use either 15 or 0 degree with plastic inserts to keep splinters from flying back at me.

Answer:	Most shingles come 3 bundles per square and 29 shingles per bundle with each shingle requiring at least 4 nails. So the math would say 3x25squares=75 bundles x 29 shingles=2175 shingles x 4 nails=8700 nails which I would increase by 20% for a total of 10,440 nails. Since a case contains 7200 nails, you will need two cases to complete the job and will have about a half of a case left over.

These Western Red Cedar shingles are 18” in length and vary in width from 3” to 8” wide. Red label shingles are a #2 grade that do allow for knots. The face is typically 11” clear or better on the 18” shingle. Limited sapwood and flat grain are allowed. Limited knots and defects are allowed above the clear portion. There are occasional splits in the individual shingles. This shingle is 3/8” to 7/16” thick on the butt end and tapers to an average 1/8” thickness. This is a contractor pack that covers 20 to 25 square feet with a 7" exposure of the shingle. Ideal for new construction, repairs and outdoor projects. The red label shingles are recommended for exterior or interior walls and are not recommended for residential or commercial roofing. Answer:	Gary, it depends on the lap of the shingles. I believe they are sold by the overall width if placed side-by-side. Based on a 5" lap, I got about 100 square feet out of two boxes- roughly 50 square feet per box. These are thicker and longer than my original shingles- about 18" long, tapering from about 3/8" to 1/16", width varies but as much as 16". They look just like in the picture.
Question:	How do these compare with what Home Depot offers
Answer:	I can't say, however, I've never seen red cedar shingles at Home Depot. I've searched locally (Southern California area) and my only option was to send for them via Amazon.
