An EDC (Everyday Carry) knife under $50 refers to a pocket knife that is designed for everyday use and is affordable, typically costing less than $50. These knives are versatile tools that can be carried in your pocket and come in handy for a variety of tasks. Here are some key points about EDC knives in this price range:

  1. Affordability: EDC knives under $50 are budget-friendly options, making them accessible to a wide range of users. They provide good value for money without compromising on quality.

  2. Design: These knives come in various designs, including folding knives and fixed-blade knives. Folding knives are more common as EDC options because they are compact and easy to carry.

  3. Blade Materials: While EDC knives in this price range may not feature high-end, premium blade materials, they often use stainless steel or other durable alloys. These materials provide decent edge retention and corrosion resistance for everyday tasks.

  4. Blade Length: The blade length of EDC knives under $50 typically falls within the legal limits for pocket knives, which varies by jurisdiction. Common blade lengths range from 2 to 4 inches.

  5. Locking Mechanisms: Many EDC folding knives in this price range feature various locking mechanisms, such as liner locks, frame locks, or lockbacks, to keep the blade securely in place during use.

  6. Handles: Handles are often made from materials like plastic, aluminum, or stainless steel. Some EDC knives may have textured or contoured handles for a better grip.

  8. One-Handed Opening: Many EDC knives are designed for one-handed opening, with features like thumb studs, flipper tabs, or thumb holes to facilitate quick and easy deployment.

  9. Versatility: EDC knives are versatile tools that can be used for various everyday tasks, such as opening packages, cutting cords, preparing food, and more.

  10. Legal Considerations: It's important to be aware of local laws and regulations regarding the carry and use of knives. Blade length, locking mechanisms, and other factors may be subject to legal restrictions in some areas.

  11. Maintenance: Like any tool, EDC knives require proper maintenance to ensure they remain in good working condition. Regular cleaning and occasional sharpening are essential to keep the blade sharp and functional.

While EDC knives under $50 are often designed for basic everyday tasks, they can serve their purpose effectively without breaking the bank. It's a good idea to read reviews and consider your specific needs when choosing an EDC knife to ensure it meets your requirements for quality, durability, and functionality.

User questions & answers

Question: what size are the star screws holding the belt clip on
Answer: If you can afford a carving jack why would you even consider buying this ??? don't get me wrong it's a good little knife for the money but it's bulky and not ergonomic at all your hand will hurt after a wile and the blades don't lock like the carving jack . You'll have to sharpen it to your liking ,but I rather loose a $ 25 knife in the woods than a $140 any day of the week. over all it's not a bad little knife once is sharpened
Question: What is the handle made of
Answer: We do not carry a left handed model.
Question: I bought this knife and opened it fine. Now I can't close it! Can someone please help
Answer: This is sad. I am 63 years old and remember when "Schrade" and "Uncle Henry" were brand names of knives you were PROUD to own and showed off to all your friends. Fortunately I do still have one old 'Uncle Henry" old enough to be of good quality. I recall sharpening a knife (Uncle Henry) for our Sgt and when he cut himself with it the doctor (took 12 stitches inside & out to sew him up) said it looked like he had been cut with a scalpel. I bet you couldn't get one of these new knives that sharp.
Question: Can you clean a deer with it
Answer: To all those complaining about the blades not locking, a blade lock was developed to keep a knife from closing when it is used to stab, like a folding skinner going through thick hide at the start of a cut (which is the wrong way to start that cut, too, by the way). If you are using this tool in any way that causes the blades to close on your fingers, you don't know how to use the tool, and you're looking for a hardware fix for a training deficiency. Stop blaming the tool and fix your ignorance. Nobody is born knowing how to use a carving knife, or any other type of knife, any more than they're born knowing how to use a hammer, saw, drill, gun, stove, oven, or jackhammer, and you shouldn't expect to expertly use a tool until you've spent some time learning how to.

User questions & answers

Question: Anyone know the angle on the bevel
Answer: 20 to 25 degrees. takes longer to sharpen because of d2 steele.
Question: is it smaller than the 03S
Answer: No it does not. Real D2 steel is between 64 65 on the Rockwell hardness scale. If this is 58 to 60, this is not D2 they're lying. Still good steel but it's not D2.
Question: Are you able to switch the clip to the left side
Answer: It is not spring assisted, however the ceramic bearings make it almost seem like it is. Extremely satisfying flipper. I get asked about it more than some of the $60-$300 pocket knives I carry. This knife spends a lot of time in my pocket, it’s actually in there right now. ONE OF MY FAVORITES, DEF WORTH THE MONEY!!!
Question: what kind of steel is the blade
Answer: Carbon, not stainless.

The Knife That Changed Everything

Few at CRKT still remember the day that Kit Carson revealed his original M16 design. Those that do knew right away that it was something special.

The anatomy of the M16 and the Carson Flipper are both now mainstays of the M16 design. The Carson Flipper ultimately earned him a spot in the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall of Fame. In the end, though, Kit’s memory is eternalized in his dedication to his craft, service to our country, and the number of lives he impacted along the way.

Iconic Handle Design

Universally recognizable, the bored holes in the face of each M16 handle sets it apart from other knifes in the industry. The shapely ergonomic design makes for a bomber grip amid rain, grit, and grime.

Carson Flipper Opening

True to its tactical nature, the Carson Flipper balances performance and safety. Light pressure rapidly deploys the blade. Once open, the flipper becomes a blade guard to protect digits in hard-use situations.

Veff Serrations

Some hone edges. Others, like “Edgeologist” Tom Veff, reinvent them. These patented Veff Serrations makes for superior cutting of cordage, rope, and fibrous materials.

Automated Liner Safety

When open, this next-level safety innovation sets a pin between the liner and the frame to keep it super secure while it’s in use. Closing is just as simple—move the red pin aside and push back the liner as usual.

Answer: I don't know I would imagine so much I did through Amazon hope this helps
Question: How durable is it? I want something that can withstand a rough hike and camping trip
Answer: Yes, sometimes you can by a package deal sometimes you have to get it separate. I can not recommend this knife enough. I love it

User questions & answers

Question: What is so special about the limited edition
Answer: For a bar tender, no. It won't take a cap off in one swipe. In two easy swipes though, any cap will come off. 5/5 works well
Question: Does this have the assisted opening
Answer: Made in China. I wouldn't let that be a deciding factor though. Kershaw has plenty of excellent China made knives. If you want USA made knives you're usually going to pay for it. I think the most "China" part of this knife is the scales. Otherwises the build quality is great.
Question: Does the bottle opener work well
Answer: No
Question: Made in the USA
Answer: No it does not but my son loves it. He says it's extremely fast and great for gaming.

Kershaw Shuffle Knives

The Taskmaster series, featuring multi-purpose saws and shears, were skillfully designed and crafted to excellence by Kershaw. This tool series is completely handy and sturdy, making the perfect companions on camping or hunting trips. Compact and tough enough to take on sizable objects, the Taskmaster tools are awesome for various tasks and projects. Cut overgrown bushes, underbrush, dead tree limbs or prune using either the saw or shears. The Taskmaster tools are made of durable, reliable high carbon tool steel and the textured handles feature rubber overmolding for secure, non-slip grip.

High-Performance Steel

A budget friendly, reliable, top-of-the-line Chinese produced steel, 8Cr13MoV steel has carbon and slightly less nickel for hardness and edge retention. Kershaw’s precision heat treated 8Cr13MoV steel strongly takes and holds an edge and offers wear resistance that can withstand damage from both abrasive and adhesive wear. 8Cr13MoV is a value blade steel featuring high performing characteristics.

Attractive Blade Finish and Coating

Kershaw’s patented Blackwash finish derives from a balanced blend of blade coating and stonewashing. Together the two produce a precisely formulated all-black matte finish impervious to fingerprints, smudges and marring. And, even though the knife itself is brand new, Blackwash projects a well-worn, vintage look popular for blending comfortably with clothes and gear during everyday use and carry.

Black oxide coating is a chemical bath, or conversion coating, that converts the surface of the blade steel to magnetite. Mainly for appearance, black oxide does add some mild corrosion resistance and tends to minimize light reflection from the blade. The blackening process gives the blade an attractive, smooth, tactical, fierce black surface that is very desirable to knife owners.

Fast Deployment

The classic way to open a knife, manual action knives use a thumb hole, thumb stud or built-in flipper to safely deploy the blade. Holding the knife level at 90o angle, quickly and smoothly flick the wrist to maneuver the blade out of the handle. Place fingers along handle scales and apply pressure inward on the blade with the thumb. Manual systems do not employ mechanical assist to open a knife.

Convenient Pocketclip

Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. A pocketclip with tip-down carry is positioned so the closed knife carries in the pocket with the tip of its blade pointed down. A reversible tip-up or tip-down pocketclip allows user to change tip position.

Classic Manual Flipper

Flippers on manual-open knives require user to push with quick strength until blade deploys. Some manual flippers disappear when blade deploys, others become a finger guard. Manual flippers appeal to inexperienced users as well as experienced users who prefer a classic, old-style opening. In both cases, ambidextrous flipper works as index finger applies pressure while closed knife sits in palm.

Durable Handle

Very tough, able to take heavy-duty hard use, and versatile, glass-filled nylon handle material is a nylon synthetic polymer reinforced with glass threads for increased strength. Glass-filled nylon has incredible stiffness for a secure and stable grip, great ability to withstand heat, and dimensional stability combined with excellent wear resistance.

Secure Locking System

With two steel plates, or liners, on the inside of each handle scale, the liner locking system safely secures the blade open and prevents unwanted blade closure. The lockbar butts up against the blade’s backend to prevent closure, and angles or is bent towards the blade tang creating a bias locked position. Apply manual force to move the lockbar to the side and fold the blade back into the handle.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it locked open
Answer: The knife is manufactured in China. It was designed in South Africa.
Question: How much does this knife weigh
Answer: The Honey Badger Knife is made in China.
Question: is the pocket clip tip up or tip down and is it reversible for left hand carry
Answer: I personally haven't but I don't think it would be very good at it either. Neither d2 steel nor 8cr13mov steel are good for tasks like that, as they are not very corrosion resistant. The blade geometry on both the gut hook version and the normal version also wouldn't be very good for it as they both have fine, pointy tips. If you were to make the point less fine, oil it, and clean it, it will likely make a fine skinning knife.
Question: where is it made
Answer: No, there's no assist. It's pretty slim and light so just manual opening. The flipping stud is a little small, so it can take a while to get the hang of it. It's worth practicing, it's a great gentleman's self-defense and all-around knife. I really like the length of the Seax blade, the way it stays sharp, and the overall quality.

Kershaw Clash Knives

A top choice for an affordable, all-purpose, utility, powerful Kershaw knife, the Clash series of knives is a three-inch blade just right for tackling almost any task. Attack boxes, heavy plastic or rope with the big bellied blade with just the slightest hint of recurve to improve slicing without being hard to resharpen. The Clash opens with SpeedSafe Assisted Opening for safe and secure one-handed blade deployment. Thanks to the ambidextrous flipper, both left and right-handed users can put the Clash’s awesomeness and toughness straight to work.

Attractive Blade Coating

Kershaw’s Bead-Blasted finish enhances a knife’s aesthetics and complements its end-use. The high-tech finish is achieved by applying a mixture of fine media onto the blade’s steel under high pressure, creating a smooth, non-reflective matte surface. Fine media includes glass and aluminum oxide beads that allow color variation and optimal performance results for an overall stunning effect.

Fast Deployment

Using a torsion bar to move the blade out of the handle, Kershaw’s revolutionary SpeedSafe Assisted Opening system enables smooth, secure, fast one-handed blade deployment. Apply manual pressure to the flipper or thumb stud with a light push or pull back to overcome resistance of the torsion bar, and the blade opens smoothly and locks into place for confident handling without premature closure.

One-Handed Flipper

Knives with SpeedSafe open have two options for one-handed blade deployment. To activate the smooth, instant open, user can push a thumbstud or press a flipper. The flipper on SpeedSafe assisted knives is easy to operate by both left- and right-handed users. And, once blade swings open and locks into place, flipper either disappears for aesthetics or remains visible for added finger protection.

Convenient Pocketclip

Kershaw designs pocketclips to fit specific knives according to their weight, intended end use, size, style and hardware. Some knives have multiple carry options, others are more streamlined. The reversible pocketclip allows user to choose to carry knife tip-up or tip-down or to choose on which side knife carries. The user may select either a preferred tip position or a preferred carry side.

User questions & answers

Question: does this model have satin, not black plain blade
Answer: Yes, the knife does have a pocket clip; a good sturdy one in my opinion.
Question: Is this made of stainless steel? can it be used as legal pocket carry and as self defense knife
Answer: I own both the Rat 1 and the Cryo 2 in plain and blackwash finish, and I can tell you that while the Rat 1 is not assisted open, I would ask you to consider that it opens lightning fast, just as fast as an assisted open, using only the thumb stud.I own many many knives, and I kind of got spoiled on the assisted open, but let me tell you, this thing opens mind blowingly fast, with just a flick of the thumb, so don't get to hung up on the assisted open feature. One other aside, I have had a spring break on my Cryo 2, and it was worthless to open with only the flipper and no spring. Also, the Cryo 2 will squeak and rattle around if the grease ever washes out. The spring is loose, especially closed, so you can actually rattle it around if there is no grease in there. I actually had to order white grease after I made the mistake of "cleaning" the knife, and inadvertently washed out all the grease. So keep that in mind also, there is no spring on the Rat 1, also no grease and no chance of any "mechanism" breaking.
Question: dose the knife have a pocket clip
Answer: It's ......LIMITED
Question: Is this knife assisted opening at all?I'm torn between this and the Kershaw Cryo
Answer: It's not assisted opening. However out of the box, it is a knife you can operate with one hand. Once you get a feel for it, when you push the blade past the friction that keeps is closed it will open with the flick of the wrist.

Answer: The blades that came with my knife are 3" long with a 2.5" cutting edge.

User questions & answers

Question: What is special about the “special edition
Answer: Mine has a circular "nub" on both sides of the blade so you can use your thumb to open it when closed. If you didn't have those on the blade then it would be difficult to open with one hand. Hope this helps
Question: Where was it made
Answer: I have both and I like this Shuffle better. My primary area of concern is backpack knife. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking so things need to have several purposes and be light and handy. The Shuffle fits everywhere. The Select Fire is just more of something that the Shuffle does for me. As far as fit and finish, the Select Fire had a wonky blade that took some grinding to make right and the magnet didn't hold the bits well. Uncoated bits seem to work better. The reach is pretty handy on the SF so it will make a great glove box/tackle box/tool box knife. The Shuffle is just better for my specific purpose. I've had the Shuffle over a year with zero failures, the SF a few weeks and I can't comment on durability yet. I will say the SF just doesn't feel right in my hand. Get both. What the hell. They are cheap.
Question: Is it supposed to have a nub at the top (part of blade) when folded? Maybe to use your pointer to open the blade? Mines looks like a piece broke off
Answer: Simon - The blade is lightly brushed AUS 8 steel. The Rat I purchased is the Model 1. If you go to YouTube, click on Prepared Mind 101's link. He gives a very good review of this particular knife. I think that it is a great value for the price. It is well constructed, has an adjustable spring clip and comes out of the box razor sharp. For the price, I bought 3.
Question: Anyone have this knife and the Kershaw select fire? Which one do you like better and why? Thanks
Answer: Generally, NO knife can be carried for self defense. As strange as it sounds if you carry ANYTHING for self defense, it's status changes to "weapon" in the eyes of the law. You are only allowed to carry tools, hobby items, toys. In California, knives of any length can be carried folded. As tools but not for self defense. You need to research your jurisdiction and the laws. But it will almost always be a non starter to think of a knife in weapon terms.

Attractive Blade Coating
