| Answer: | Look for a woodworking vise such as the Yost-M7WW-Rapid-Acting-Working. Years ago I bought a Columbian (Made in USA) woodworking vise - maybe 10-inch - through Sears. I mounted it under the workbench which was made of 2X6 boards, but I added maple faces (maybe 8" x 12") to each side so it would not damage my red oak I was using to build my bed. On the other end of the workbench, I had an older Sears vise to support the long boards. You won't need 2 vises with a board that is 18" wide. Good grief! A 3-year-old question. |

| Answer: | Most likely not. There are some minor quality issues with mine... the jaws are slightly misaligned and the jaw edgoes are excruciatingly sharp and ragged in a couple of spots. I thought it would be simple to get soft jaw inserts, but the 3" size had me hacking down a 4.5" set of nylon ones. It also did not leave very much clamping space after inserting them. But it is heavy!!! And does a great job if you can figure out how to deal with the small issues. |
