Answer:	I don't know where to obtain replacement pads other than to contact the manufacturer. As a substitute, you might try gluing a piece of cork or other cushioning material on with CA (cyanoacrylate, "crazy") glue.

Answer:	On a 24 inch pipe I measured 19 1/2 inches of opening on the clamps so the pipe only needs to be 4 1/2 inches longer than the item you're clamping.

Answer:	All of mine have come with clamp pads. That said they come off pretty easily, though it doesn't really affect my use for them. If i'm worried about damaging the wood i'm holding, then I'll put a sacrificial piece of wood in place as a pad.
