| Answer: | I've been a painter for over 20 yrs and used many sprayers, any paint atomized to spray will float 200 ft and stick to a car with very little breeze. Buy .01 mil plastic and cover any cars within 200 ft in the direction of any breeze, it the wind is blowing towards your back yard, paint quick before it changes direction. usually spray will settle within a 10 to 20 ft area from an outside wall with the most paint being in a 3 ft area below the wall. Plastic is cheaper than painting a nice car for someone else !!! |

| Answer: | The max spray tip is the key. I have a Graco X7 Magnum Pro and my max tip size is .017. This is found in the last two numbers of the number on the tip. So a tip marked 517 would mean that the spray tip orifice is .017. The “5” is half the width of the spray fan pattern. So the 517 tip would spray a pattern that is 10 inches wide (5 x 2) and would spray a paint that requires an .017 orifice which is a very thick paint. The orifice size requirement can be found in the paint specifications. This unit comes with a 515 tip, and I could not find the max tip size but I suspect this is it — .015 — which is a big orifice and can handle almost all latex or oil based paints but I would not use oil base in a sprayer because of clean up. Much easier to run water through it for clean up than mineral spirits. I am currently painting my deck and I’m using Sherwin-Williams Super Deck product which is thicker than normal paint, and I’m using a .015 spray tip. I’m using a 315 on the railings to limit overspray and conserve paint. The 315 will give me a 6” spray pattern and the .015 is within the manufactures specifications for this product. I could have used a .017 but it would have put out a lot more paint and made it a little more difficult to control overspray and conserve paint. I hope that helps. This is a great sprayer at a very good price, but follow the directions and make sure you clean it properly and use pump armor when stored. |

| Answer: | Maybe Slightly Thinner than warm Syrup, So probably between Warm Syrup & Water. A word of advice though, I had an extremely difficult time working with this product & had to sand and reapply many coats to get a satisfactory finish. It dries fast & if you run a brush over it after is has sat more than a minute it will create rough brush marks. Additionally if you apply more than a very thin layer it will crack similar to a crackle pattern. Unless you are putting this over a pure white background I would recommend that you use the standard "Crystal Clear" non-water based urethane. It has only a light yellow tint and is much easier to work with in my experience. |

| Answer: | US 220/240 volt is a dual line split phase - therefore if you need 110volt you only use one load line instead of both along with the neutral or common and a ground line. So in the US you could but would need an adapter line made to your 220 plug. In Europe they use a single phase / single load line and if this machine were used there it would require a power converter (rated to at least 1500 watts continuous) to step the voltage down from their 220v to the machines 110v. |

| Answer: | Graco says max tip orifice size for this unit is 0.015, which is based on the flow rate of their standard finish tips. Just make sure the unit's flow rate (x5 is 0.27 GPM) meets or exceeds the rated flow rate of the tip you're buying to be sure. You can go up to 0.016 with the x5 if you're using Graco's Fine Finish tips since the currently available 516 and 616 fine-finish (green) tips are rated at 0.27 GPM (which matches the x5's output capacity). Also, you *must* check the data sheet for the paint you'll be using to ensure you're using the right tip orifice size. For example, Sherwin-Williams Emerald exterior acrylic satin (K48 series) specifies a tip size of 0.015 - 0.019 for airless spray application. Note that the maximum recommended tip size for this unit is also the minimum tip size required for the Emerald paint, so in this scenario, you *must* use 0.015 and nothing else. Any smaller will clog and any larger will result in a poor paint finish with ugly trails at the top and bottom of the spray pattern because the sprayer won't be able to maintain a high enough pressure to atomize the paint properly. |

| Answer: | The hose is NOT 100' long it is shipped with a 25' hose. The unit is designed to allow use of 100' of hose. The wheels will not let the unit roll around freely without tilting it back first so they are not the problem on a scaffold. That said, I would still discourage putting the pump on a scaffold. |

| Answer: | The brushes seem to have very soft bristles and should be fine to use with polyurethanes. However, you still may get brush marks left over so use caution anytime you’re brushing on Poly. |

Clean them with the appropriate solvent for the pant you are using (usually turpentine) until completely clean after every use, reform the brush into the correct shape, sit them on a towel you only use for painting or triple folded paper towels on a paper plate on your counter out of the way until dry than store them either laying safely FLAT where nothing will bother them or upright in something like an empty coffee can out of the way where nothing will mess up its form. Refrigerator..smh.. |

It comes w/ 2 batteries and they charge pretty fast so it's a great tool. Mind you there was battery run in there for cleaning and switching the sheens. Awesome tool for small jobs (Shutters, doors, bulkheads, lattice, trim and small projects, lacquer, poly, etc. ) Know your tips and coatings before using. There is a lot to spraying rather than just aiming and spraying a film. |

| Answer: | besides the obvious differences is the types of products the ultramax vs TC pro you have one minor difference that is overlooked. The TC pro is a brushless motor. I am guessing the brushless motor design is why the TC Pro can safely spray the more exotic materials without fear of explosion since there are no brushes to create an arc and ultimately a fire. Typically, the brushless motors are a little more efficient than the brushed design, but I have just started using the TC Pro so I will have to see after some usage. |

| Answer: | Interesting question. You've never used an airless sprayer have you? Back-rolling does three things. First, on a smooth surface like a door, it RUINS THE FINISH that the TrueCoat will give you. Second, it will SPREAD OUT the paint you've sprayed on any given surface. Sometimes, inexperienced hands produce uneven coverage with a sprayer. Back rolling can repair this. Third, back rolling DRIVES THE PAINT DEEP in a way that spraying can't. When painting rough stucco (for example) back rolling can help to drive paint into crevasses. Finally, when spaying over paint that's peeled and been scraped, which left a rough scaly surface, spraying cannot drive the paint under these flakes to help thoroughly lock down the new top coat. Back rolling helps here. The mechanical pressure of the roller pushes paint under flakes and loose edges of previously scraped paint. There ya go. |

| Answer: | Well, it's a done deal now. I hope it worked out OK. Having lived over there for a number of years I can tell you that just a simple converter (and no, that's NOT a plug adapter!) may not work. Most of the time it's a "step-down" transformer to convert 230V/50HZ to 120V/still 50HZ. Whenever you're running a motorized device like this sprayer, you have to not only convert the voltage but also the HZ...transformers don't do that, so the result is a motor from a stateside product runs slower...that can be a major problem. And transformer/converters do not have a nice, clean sine wave voltage output. It's "noisy" and may burn out the thing you're running.So all in all, by the time you're done you'll spend as much or more on the converter as you saved on sending the thing over there. Computers and other electronic stuff that usually has a 230/115V switch for such changes don't care about the "HZ factor"...they convert the voltage internally from AC to DC before they do anything else with it, so that's why they're not bothered. And razors, hairblowers, etc., may allow you to switch, but notice that they run slower because their motors aren't seeing 60HZ power any more...not a big deal for them; it just takes a bit longer to shave/dry hair, is all.So if you think you're doing someone a favor by sending over an electrical device, unless they live on an American base where they have 115VAC/60HZ (thanks to a complete rewiring and conversion system from the U.S. taxpayer), save your well-intentioned money.FWIW.... |
