Answer:	it stores them permanently unless you default them. You can also plug it into your computer and back them up. I had 240 rides in a Garmin 520+ and this is way more storage than that one. Important to note it will ALSO back them up to the Garmin Cloud as long as you sync it with your phone. So there is a perm copy on the device (Until you default it) it stores it in the garmin page every time you sync. and it can upload to many other systems automatically.

This minimal one is not as secure as the solid plastic ones like this one for instance: https://tinyurl.com/y99va9w3 With heavy use in hot, sunny weather, the O-rings could deteriorate. Again, if you are a frequent cyclist. These rings can also easily slip off any shimming you use to enlarge the mounting surface. I tend to use old inner tubes. However, if you are looking for a very minimal, unobtrusive mount, this works well. I give it a solid four out of five stars.

Answer:	I haven't seen an Edge 510 but take a look at http://sites.garmin.com/edge/ They show a rotating 510 which exposes the back and you can readily see that the bike mount is standard and is identical to my 200 model which uses this mount
