User questions & answers

Question: is this as durable as "acrylic
Answer: It's one quart and it is worth every penny. One quart covers 125 square feet. That's not one coat of 125 feet, that's 3 coats of 125 feet. One quart will FINISH 125 feet.
Question: Does this product yellow over time
Answer: I used it on butcher block that was treated several times with mineral oil it came out perfect..they advise to sand down the wood if it's pretreated. So I'd sand it, and use the waterlox. Ps.... the waterlox IMO works 10000 times better than the mineral oil..I should have started with it
Question: Is ir water proof
Answer: Its tung oil that works great for a wood counter top but i would not use it for a butcher block. Their are food grade mineral oils designed just for butcher blocks.
Question: I painted my table and want a clear protectant, so i can clean it from food spill and such. Will this work without messing up my paint job
Answer: Amazon site has this marked as $50 for a quart... which is nonsense price because you can pick it up for $29,99 at the local Woodcraft Supply or $31.49 from Rockler or $31.99 at Highland...etc, etc

User questions & answers

Question: Does it have any nut based ingedients
Answer: I believe this is not to he used as a finish for cutting surfaces so I personally would not use it for utensils. It’s probably best to use a good quality oil designed for that task.
Question: Is this a good product to use for a small butcher block kitchen island? I plan to sand and stain first, then apply this product
Answer: If you build up the finish then yes, but that would take a long time. A better choice would be food safe epoxy especially for vessels that will be holding liquids for an extend period of time. I would not use this product for drinking vessels.
Question: how does it work on live edge wood with some rough bark still on
Answer: Yes it can
Question: Can I use it on top of wood stains
Answer: Don't know what's in it but it is a finish that is for food contact. I use it on doll beds. General does make a finish that is for toys but I do not know what is the difference.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this work on scratches and water marks on furniture
Answer: This is not the product you want. It gives a high gloss finish, almost like glass. You might try a mixture of 3 parts mineral oil to 1 part bees wax, this will give you a nice satin finish, protect from water and is also food safe.
Question: Does this work on antique oriental teak-wood furniture
Answer: Just a heads up. The longer Watco butcher block oil is exposed to air, while in the can, the thicker it will become. If the thicker product is then applied to a board, it will loose some of it's penetrating capabilities and will get tacky sooner. You may have also purchased something that's been on the shelf a while. Typically, it's very thin when fresh. That said, I always wipe off the excess within a minute or two, sometimes this will take some extra effort as it does become tacky. Stay vigilant with the removal of the excess oil as it will help eliminate those blotchy spots, so wipe it down well. FYI, some woods may tend to show some slight spottiness with Watco's despite the best vigilance on your part.
Question: Can u use this on wooden drawers that are hard to close
Answer: what are the ingredients including type of oil?
Question: Why does it say “warning cancer and reproductive harm” on the package I received
Answer: Yes it will waterproof very well indeed! I have a cutting board that my husband made me 3 years ago, I keep my knives butcher sharp and use my cutting board almost every day. I wish I could send a picture of how well it has stood up to my knives and washing it with warm water and mild soap every time! There are barely any marks on it, in fact it dulls my knives. I also made an umbrella stand from hardwood and finished with Butcher Block. We live in rainy Germany and there's not one water stain on it! I couldn't say enough about this product! You won't be sorry for using it. I would put at least 2 maybe even 3 coats on it if it's a counter top. It goes a long way because it isn't real thick, so I use thin coats but a couple should do you. Good luck!

User questions & answers

Question: How many
Answer: Yes, it is the Honey Teak, 1 gallon. Ordered two of them from them last August.
Question: Do i have you to use a sealer after to prevent water damage
Answer: Yes, this item is the 1 Quart of Mahogany Flame Australian Timber Oil For Decks & Outdoor Furniture.
Question: Do these have a strong odor
Answer: My house is part of a condo association and they applied this product to my deck a few years ago and I couldn't walk on it for six weeks. I finally had the entire deck sanded and Australian Timber Oil applied again by an independent contractor which came out beautifully and was trouble free. I have since applied it myself several times and have never had a problem. It sounds to me that it is not being wiped soon enough after it is applied which will create problems. I like the product and plan to continue using it.
Question: My dog chewed the leg of my mahogany dining chair. Do the wipes work well with elmer's stainable wood putty? It's a small chew but enough to annoy me
Answer: I used the oil version and was very satisfied with the results. I have heard of less favorable results with the water based but have not tried it myself

TIME-TESTED NATURAL PROTECTION

Founded in 1902, ADM, manufacturer of LINSHEEN Linseed Oils, has invested decades in the natural extraction and unlocking of nature's best ingredients to create, develop, and manufacture high-quality products, including our highly-respected linseed oil.

For both our LINSHEEN and flaxseed oils, we are vertically integrated — from grain handling to the customer — ensuring quality control at every step. And our access to international markets means we have complete confidence in the supply and quality of our seeds.

Our LINSHEEN line of linseed oil products is carefully designed and developed to deliver maximum quality results. We uniquely understand the precision required to protect and maintain wood surfaces for the results customers demand.

With LINSHEEN, you gain the beautiful finishing performance desired for untreated wood projects inside and outside the home.

Natural Layer of Dependable Protection

Boiled Linseed Oil brings wood to life by enhancing its natural colors and texture. The oil penetrates deep into the wood, nourishing as it cures. This exceptional oil treatment conditions the wood, creating a smooth, soft surface to the touch.

Simple Skills & Formulations

Boiled Linseed Oil (BLO) is not actually boiled — drying agents are added to Raw Linseed Oil to already created BLO for a faster drying wood treatment BLO absorbs deep into the wood's grain and dries within hours, depending on the weather. Once cured and polymerized, an added layer of protection is created. The wood must also be treated every six month to a year.

Easy Application

First, make sure the wood surface is clean and free of debris. Once cleaned, apply the first coat with a cloth, brush, or roller. Let the oil soak into the wood for 10 to 15 minutes. Thoroughly wipe the surface to remove excess oil to prevent build-up resulting in a sticky surface. For proper application and preservation, apply 2 - 3 coats at 12 to 24 hour intervals.

Revive Outdoor Wood Furniture

Protect your outdoor wood furniture from the elements. Changes in humidity, insects, and everyday wear and tear have an impact. Give your furniture a fresh look and a natural barrier of protection by hand-rubbing linseed oil into the wood grain seasonally.

Showcase Your Woodwork

The superior penetration and deep nourishment of Boiled Linseed Oil enhances the natural beauty of the wood grain and color. Showcase the aesthetics of your indoor and outdoor craftsmanship — from decking, hardwood floors, moldings, beams, and furniture.

Not Limited to Wood

Boiled Linseed Oil is an excellent protective barrier for a range of materials. This natural layer of protection works great with metal, concrete, terracotta, and even cork. Reinvigorate weathered surfaces, create a water-resistant seal, and protect from oxidation caused by the sun.

Proper Disposal of Used Rags

Boiled Linseed Oil is mixed with solvents that can be toxic if ingested. Any rags can be combustible if not appropriately handled. Used rags should be stored in a sealed metal container filled with water, or thoroughly washed before dispensing of.

The Science of SEAL-ONCE and Innovative Use of Nanotechnology in Wood Finishes & Stains

Unlike many top-coat sealers sold today that trap moisture below the surface, NANO+POLY creates a flexible, breathable barrier which allows water vapor to escape. This key feature helps prevent damage to wood caused by water intrusion, such as: wood rot, decay, mold & mildew growth, cracking & splitting. Typical wood sealers form a barrier on the surface of the wood, trapping moisture below the surface. As the water evaporates, it causes the surface coating and the substrate to crack & peel, leaving a broken surface that requires continued maintenance and is susceptible to additional damage. SEAL-ONCE uses cutting-edge, nano-particle technology to allow wood to breath and help prevent water vapor damage by protecting wood from the inside out.

Water-based Product that Will Not Harm People, Pets, Plants, Livestock or Marine Life.

SEAL-ONCE products are ultra-low VOC, low odor, non-toxic, non-flammable and non-ozone depleting. They are safer for the environment and do not contain nitrates, phosphorous compounds or heavy metals like many Oil-based sealers & stains on the market today.

Quick & Easy Application

Apply first coat with a synthetic brush; pump-up garden sprayer; air-assisted; and/or airless sprayer. Use 15-17 tip and medium to coarse spray pattern. When spraying, always back brush for best results. Second coat can be applied once first coat has penetrated but is still damp. Second coat must be applied within one hour of applying first coat. For best results, apply in the shade and out of direct sunlight.

Available in 11 Tinted Wood Stain Colors

NANO+POLY can be tinted for use as wood stain in any of the 11 color tints available: Clear, Light Brown, Natural, Brown, Mahogany, Redwood, Bronze Cedar, Cedar, Black, Battleship Gray, Shale Gray & Cape Cod Gray. The tints are sold separately and when mixed with Clear, the tinted formula provides additional UV protection from harmful sun rays.

Surface Preparation & Coverage

Approximate coverage: 250-350 sq. ft./gallon per coat. Actual coverage will vary due to the porosity of the surface. All surfaces should be cleaned with SEAL-ONCE All Wood Cleaner before sealing for best penetration and performance. Remove all old coatings, dust, debris and loose material. Remove oil, grease, algae, grime, mill glaze and mold and mildew stains with appropriate cleaners.

Howard Products

Product description

In 1969, Douglas G. Howard set out to solve this dilemma: how can you eliminate blemishes in wood finishes and restore the original color and luster without removing any of the existing finish? Unable to find an answer at his local hardware store, he went to work in his garage to create his own product. His goal was to make something that would be much more than a surface treatment, yet nothing like a stripper or a refinisher. The key was to develop a formula that could clean and polish the surface, penetrate the finish with stain, and leave the original finish intact. The end result was Restor-A-Finish, Doug Howard's first in what would become a complete line of wood care products. For over 40 years, Howard's Restor-A-Finish has been a standard in the antique industry. Because Restor-A-Finish preserves the original wood finish it also helps preserve its authenticity and value, whereas stripping the finish may literally strip the piece of its value. Almost any existing wood tone, from a Birdseye Maple to a Jacobean, can be closely matched using one of the nine available finish colors. Trying it on just about everything with a traditional wood finish, antique dealers, refinishers, and homemakers have found it to be a safer and easier alternative to stripping and refinishing. Scratches, oxidation, white heat rings, watermarks, smoke damage, and sun fade simply disappear.

User questions & answers

Question: what to use to clean wood first and then after the application of restor a finish
Answer: May have stirred it too vigorously which will produce air bubbles and a cloudy effect. There may also have been some moisture on top of the last coat -- I don't really know. However, use #000 or, best #0000 steel wool and "sand" the top to get rid of the problem, then recoat with a cheap "chippy" brush versus a foam brush (foam can create air bubbles). The cheap chippy brushes are those little brushes that sell for a $1 or so -- made in China should be somewhere on the handle. BTW, I always sand or burnish with #0000 steel wool between every coat and it gives it a nice silky smooth professional finish.
Question: Will it help with acetone stain
Answer: I used this product over black latex milk paint and haven't noticed any change in the black.
Question: Which color should I get if I have dark expresso color wood
Answer: 2-3 coats is recommended, depending what your project is. There are some great youtube videos on how to apply this product. It really is amazing. Best of luck to you.
Question: can you use it on floors
Answer: I stained my kitchen cabinets with the gel stain. I was lucky to have a lot of time to do the project because it doesrequire 24 hours between coats. I did use the gel top coat as it was recommended with the gel stain. For the stainI used foam brushes but the top coat went on better with socks for a even out look. Call the company to get moreinfo on any other product as they can give you more details.

User questions & answers

Question: Would this work well with a high chair? Do I need to put a varnish or is this enough
Answer: Is there a case price and is it in stock
Question: How many thin coats should I apply to refinish a kitchen table? The tabletop has been lightly sanded and will be used with glasses, etc later
Answer: Deft is great stuff, but I would't use it to protect and seal things like vinyl and paper. I think you may need an epoxy of some sort. Moisture from glasses, etc will also spot the deft and other lacquers.
Question: Would this be good for teak outdoor furniture? I plan to reapply yearly
Answer: i'm not sure you would get desired results from mixing satin and gioss defts. to get a semi-gloss finish, i believe there is a semigloss product available for deft.
Question: can you apply this over chalk paint, I have a project that will be part natural wood and the other part painted. Can I apply it over all to seal
Answer: You just spray it and leave it. Do not spray it on thick but steel wool after each coat. No more than three coats are usually needed. I have used it in my decoy carving for many years and I believe it gives the best results.
