Answer:	It'll definitely look better with the 2nd coat. The 1st coat acts as a sealer coat / the 2nd coat sits on the 1st coat and gives that sheen you're looking for Lightly hand sand between the coats with 320 sandpaper.

Answer:	You can. That is how I did mine. Light sanding and then follow directions so you have two nice coats.

Answer:	Minwax Polycrylic is an example of a fortified water-based polyurethane .Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane is not water based . That is the most simplest way of explaining it . The better question is when do yo use Polycrylic over Polyurethane ? The answer can be long . Polycrylic creates a durable finish and is great for surfaces that are very frequently used such as desks, kid's furniture and tables. It is completely clear and does not have a yellow tint like oil based polyurethane.Water-based oil-modified polyurethane is a relatively new product that combines the durability of an oil base with the cleanup of a water base.Water based polyurethane is not highly resistant to heat and chemicals and does not hold up well in extreme conditions.It is good for things such as desks, bookcases, picture frames, side tables or anything that is not exposed to extreme temperatures or harsh chemicals. Each finish has its own pros and cons.Oil-based polyurethane is more durable than water-based counterpart specifically in terms of dealing with heat. It effectively exposes the natural richness of wood but can add a slight amber or yellowish color tint. Wood floor and Kitchen table and Coffee table are amongst the few of good applications for oil based polyurethane. It takes quite longer to dry and cure than water based and has a strong smell. That is why it is recommended to use a respirator and work in well-ventilated areas while you are applying oil based polyurethane. Both water and oil based polyurethane can be applied to acrylic or latex paints. For exterior use I prefer Spar Urethane which is typical used on boat . As to wood floors , not an easy job , but if yo want a durable finish which is scratch resistant I would use Polyurethane .

Answer:	Hello Marto, I would think a sealer of this type would help stop the staining. You might also consult your local jeweler for advice.

Answer:	I have used it in that capacity before. As long as you don't let it get wet for long it works well. Treat it like any other piece of furniture. Use coasters and wipe it down. Sun light for long periods may fade it or cause it to yellow. You have dark wood so that shouldn't be a problem
Question:	I have some nice river stones that look prettiest when they are wet and shiny underwater. Would this spray give that look permanently on the stones
Answer:	I think it could if you sprayed it heavily enough, but I am not sure. I used this as a topcoat for some coffee tables I repainted, and the legs did come out glossy, but the top came out rather uneven (patches of gloss interspersed on mostly not gloss). So I guess if you sprayed it heavily on the rocks, it could work- but personally, I ended up regretting that I had not paid more for a product that would give me the exact finish I was going for (in my case, a true topcoat).

Answer:	Don’t see why it wouldn’t. I used it on Outside wood pieces.

Answer:	This coating is for interior use. Polyurethane will yellow if exposed to direct sun light. Spar varnish, which is used to finish wood on boats would be a better option for outdoor use.
Question:	Does this product react with white paint like some other products do
Answer:	Generally speaking, you can apply polyurethane over most types of paint regardless of color. However, the paint MUST be fully cured, and the prep-work that you do with the painted surface (sanding or scuffing, etc) before applying is crucial for good adhesion. Normal polyurethane will probably give the white paint a yellow tint. A water-based poly or polycrylic would be better as there is no yellowing effect after applying it.
Question:	What temperature can this stand up to or withstand
Answer:	I have table tops in my house finished with polyurethane where I routinely do not use coasters for hot cups of coffee and tea and have done no harm to the finish. I would not put a casserole dish straight from the oven on the table, however; you are only asking for trouble.

Answer:	No, it’s an interior finish. Use marine varnish for anything subjected to weather and sunlight.

Answer:	This is to use on wood. Is your counter wood? If it is & you're painting, not staining, not sure. But I think it should. I would try a small amount somewhere in a corner or some place where wouldn't be seen if didn't work well.

Answer:	I have used it on a kitchen table that was chalk painted and it dried clear and is very durable. I did 3 light coats but be sure each coat is dry before applying the next coat.
Question:	I just started working with polymer clay. Should I get the gloss or the semi-gloss? Is there a difference between the finished product
Answer:	My wife works with polymer clay. Gloss gives depth and extra dimension to the projects. It also enhances metallic clays, such as gold and silver. She would never use satin or semi-gloss over metallics, because all they do is to dull the shine. Satin and semi-gloss are great for projects where a rough, unpolished, or "natural" look is desired, such as Steampunk projects. Hope this helps and best of luck with your creations!
Question:	I just chalk painted a desk for my daughter and I want to seal it. Will this turn the white chalk paint yellow
Answer:	For my dresser, yes it turned it yellow. I used 4 thin layers of rustoleum linen white chalk paint after lightly sanding with no primer. I think the yellow somehow came through from the previous topcoat/stain because the areas that I sanded more thoroughly had less yellowing. I wonder if I had used a primer, if it would have blocked any bleed through from the previous finish. I’m still so surprised it got pulled up through 4 layers of chalk paint.
Question:	can this product be "wiped" on
Answer:	"Wiped on" is the only way I use Varathane now. I take a paper towel, dab it into the can, and carefully rub it onto the wood. I just did this with some repurposed cigar boxes the other night - came out beautiful. The finish seams to be a little more satiny than when you brush on the Varathane - the first project I did, I brushed on many coats and the pieces were a bit shiny. I prefer the wiped finish, it looks great on both of the Cigar Box Guitars that I've built and, as I mentioned, the two cigar boxes I just redid. You want to avoid putting on very thick layers, as well as leaving any gobs or lines of the finish, just like with anything else you're putting on wood. General rule of thumb with this stuff - if it looks white or creamy on the wood, it's too thick. Be careful sanding between layers, since the wiped on finish, for me, is often thinner than brushed on finish. Side note - The guitars only have Varathane on the neck. The wood for the necks came from an old dining room table, it's heavy and dense. The wood was stripped of finish, painted with a variety of colors and chemicals to reach a certain patina, and then I wiped on the Varathane. Came out beautiful, and the finish is holding up really well.

Answer:	I used rotten stone polish to satin the finish

Answer:	Use common sense. I have used as many as three coats on tables, seemed it works. But, make sure it is water based because oil based will turn yellow.

Answer:	You could but don't. It's thin enough already. Wipe on a thin coat and wait a minute or 2. Then wipe it ALL off. The next day do that again.

Answer:	Yes, if you follow the correct procedures for application. The work depends on how the surface absorbs the polyurethane. When I used it on oak, it took three coats sanding lightly with 220 grit sand paper between each coat. Use a tack cloth or clean damp cloth to wipe all dust off between coats. Best applied with a foam brush. Do not place in direct sunlight on a hot day to dry or the finish will bubble. And have fun!

Answer:	Clean with naptha. More odor free than paint thinner. Brush out most of poly. Clean with 2 steps. Clean thinner for 2nd step. Then shake or brush thinner out of bristles.

Answer:	I use the best natural bristle brush I can afford. For best results apply thin layers and definitely sand between coats at least up to 220 grit - depending on the piece I may sand to 320 or 400 grit.
Question:	Can I apply polyurethane on danish oil finish
Answer:	Yes but wait 72 hours after the Danish oil

Answer:	The gloss is almost always gonna give you a thicker coat. That means more protection for the wood. HOWEVER, I believe the satin finish is much “richer” .... and not as FLASHY as the gloss. With your dark walnut, I think it deserves the satin treatment.... but it’s easy to recommend ANYTHING when IT’S NOT MY TABLE!!! Regardless of what you choose, I hope you enjoy your your “new” furniture!
Question:	Can i use a brush to apply it? i'm worried about lint from rags. the brush on poly says it is fast drying and i don't want it drying before i'm done
Answer:	Wipe On Poly is designed to eliminate brush application. I use a small square of old tee shirt gathered around several cotton balls and tied with a twist tie. Wear a nitrile glove and hold the "daubber" in your had, dip it into a small qty. of the poly and proceed to wipe the surface. Watch the reflection on the surface as you apply the poly to ensure complete coverage. Allow to dry. Lightly sand with 320 grit and reapply. Repeat until you have the desired result.
Question:	What's the difference between this and their other polycrylic "fast drying" - in the blue-green can
Answer:	I think the blue can is water based. I buy the silver can in Clear Gloss and use it on 2 benches I have on my porch for over 10 years.

Answer:	I have used this product on motorcycle gas tank and plastics with great results. 6-8 coats works best, apply about 10-15 minutes after you spray your base coat and 10 minutes between coats with the polyurethane. You will get slight orange peel, just wet sand after several days and buff.

Answer:	Yes. As others have said it goes on white and dries clear. I can send a picture I a finished product if you would like.

Answer:	I don't recommend it bc it's water based poly. It made my beautiful Kona cabinets streaky like I had poured milk on it & let it dry. I called customer service & was told I "over worked" it by going back and forth with my brush more than twice. So I tried it again using just 2 strokes. Cabinet came out less hazy & streaky, but still is terrible looking. Use oil based poly for oil based stains!

Answer:	This is water base. Soap and water cleanup.

Answer:	Absolutely. All waterbased polys are compatible with one another; their only difference is the filler used to make them less reflective. This is my preferred way to finish furniture professionally. You want to build the finish in gloss, and then only do the final coat at matte or whatever the sheen you want. This is because the less reflective the finish is, the more flattening agents (semi-opaque solid bits) there are that obscure the wood beneath. Building up ten semi-opaque topcoats looks very muddy compared to the same thickness of transparent gloss with a final matte topcoat.
Question:	Which is better as a topcoat, Valspar ultimate polyurethane matte or Valspar satin finish
Answer:	The matte has a nice subtle sheen and satin can be quite glossy. The matte looks great on a lot of furniture but for a table top, the satin finish is usually best
