Answer:	What model do you have? This question is listed under the 6 inch caliper, General Tool Model 147. Your question states 3 inch caliper. The procedure for the 6 inch Model 147 is as follows:The battery compartment is the small shiny plated panel to the right of the display, above the word zero. 1. Flip the caliper so that the digital display is face down.2. Remove only the top screw. Do not remove the bottom screw that is near adjustment roller. The screw appears to be captured by the housing, but take care not to lose the screw. 3. The top of the panel (held by the screw removed above) should flip outward. The bottom of the panel is held by a tab.4. Remove the panel. 5. Note the battery polarity. On mine, a SR-44 battery, the positive side is visible with the battery installed. 6. Replace the battery. 7. Insert the tab on bottom of the panel, in the slot of the bezel housing. 8. Push the panel downward. Carefully start the screw and tighten. Do not over tighten the screw. I hope this helps. Again this is for the Model 147 six inch caliper.

Answer:	No, not really. If you were engraving a poem it might. I really like this, do a little practice with it so you get used to how it handles.I really like this engraver.

Answer:	Yes. I’ve bought several of these. I’ve tried different tools including dremels. This seems to work the best. Practice on something else first. I’d also suggest writing in thin marker and then engraving over so you don’t make mistakes.

Answer:	I made the mistake of ordering this and realized they were not ratcheting. the 165 kit is ratcheting, or you can buy 161R and 162R individually.

Answer:	I don't really know what you mean by "center hole on the back ?". They don't really have a back or front. But you should know that they're made in India, not the U.S.A. like the picture shows, and the quality is significantly lower than the original tools back when General made stuff in America. I worked with a guy who had an old American made set. They were great ! very well made, worked really well. That's why I bought these. I was very disappointed. I have since found a set of tap holders made in America by Lyle. They work with a 1/4" or 3/8" ratchet; a much better concept right from the start.

Answer:	General tools are very nice to see, to touch and to hold. Made in America ? Not for years and years ! Maybe even decades. The jaw mechanism is a bit cheezy, and they are sized incorrectly for sure. As long as I have 2 of each size, I grab the one that fits or works best. - The quality has diminished somewhat when com- pared to 30 year old general tools that I have, but I still like the quality enough to keep buying them. - I long for the day when "Made iN America" returns. - -

Question:	can I cut a 120mm hole in acrylic glass of my computer case
Answer:	I have successfully cut both 1/4" and 1/8" thick acrylic with this cutter. Your drill press should be set to it's lowest speed, and the cutter advanced into the work as slowly as possible. If you have the material available, sandwich the acrylic between a piece if 1/4" plywood, mdf or similar materiel on top with a thicker backer board of the same or similar material on the bottom. Clamp the sandwich assembly to the drill press table. The sandwich will help flatten the acrylic if it is warped, and lessen the possibility edge fracture from the cutter. Progressively finer grits of sandpaper may be used to dress up the edges of the cut.
Question:	Can it be used on light gage steel
Answer:	Yes...if you are careful to keep the material flat on a backer board. And remember this cutter is to be used only on a drill press. I have used these cutters to cut instrument holes in .090 aluminium.

Answer:	First, one wonders why one would want to break a window or ask about a metal scriber to be used in such a fashion? Second, yes, it is a carbide tip and could be used for breaking glass theoretically; however, they make glass cutters that can be bought at local hardware store. Safety glass found in automobiles is another issue.

Answer:	I never tought of using this little thing for scoring glass. But the idea sounds quite sensible. So I took a piece of scrap glass and tried. And, YES, it can score glass, and very well it does, indeed.

Question:	Just got a used one on amazon here. there are no instructions. also it has no battery
Answer:	I bought the dr.meter specifically to check installed drywall in non-pin mode. I didn't even see a way to "calibrate" the meter. I tested it on a known dry section of wall: the meter read 0%. Then I slid it over the suspected area and got readings varying from 15% up to 60% or so. That confirmed my suspicions. I cut out a big rectangle of the 3/4" drywall ceiling and it was quite wet inside, dripping. The open cell foam insulation was wet and spongy. The meter reading is instant and there is no apparent lag when moving. It even differentiates between different pieces of fruit. I tested some oranges, with readings of 40% to 55%, or so. It's a great device!

Answer:	Please kindly be advised that you can choose the probe needling mode or the scanning mode. There are no pinhole marks will be left in the scanning mode. Thank you!
Question:	This meter is called pinless, but, according to the questions below it has pins. So is it pinless or does it have pins
Answer:	Most interior walls read 0%. Best way to judge your walls or ceiling is to take readings in other areas of the room. But yes 20% is high. Also make sure there is no metal in the wall like in the corners some house do have metal this will give you a false reading.

Question:	It says 35 leaves per inch, shouldn't that read 16 leaves per inch as in it has 1/16" graduations
Answer:	each 'piece' is about 1 1/2 cm give a take a little hmm and a ha. Use mine all the time and it seems to work just fine, I fill in the rounding piece with pencil lines. It's not perfect but it is great. I wish I had it years ago when I tiled my whole house and working around frame work for tile cuts.

Answer:	No, It doesn't have a locking lever. At the same time, it holds marked shapes very well without it.

Answer:	Some kind durable plastic. This tool feels heavyand long lasting. Good buy.

As this is being written, this Amazon product listing has the P81 and P83 product descriptions incorrectly swapped with the "6-inch" and "4 15/16 inch" product selection buttons.
