13 best dynamic usb microphones
Dynamic USB microphones are a type of microphones designed for capturing audio and are particularly useful for a wide range of applications, including recording musical instruments, vocals, podcasting, gaming, and more. Here are some key details about dynamic USB microphones:
Dynamic Microphone Technology: Dynamic microphones use a diaphragm attached to a coil of wire placed within a magnetic field. When sound waves hit the diaphragm, it moves, causing the coil to move within the magnetic field, generating an electrical signal. This signal represents the audio that is being captured.
USB Connectivity: Dynamic USB microphones have an integrated USB interface, which allows them to be connected directly to a computer or other digital recording devices via a USB cable. This eliminates the need for external audio interfaces or preamps, making them very convenient for beginners and home recording enthusiasts.
Plug-and-Play: USB microphones are typically "plug-and-play," meaning they are easy to set up and use. You can often start recording or broadcasting without the need for complex software installations or driver downloads.
Versatility: Dynamic USB microphones are versatile and can be used for a variety of applications. They are commonly used for recording vocals, musical instruments (such as guitars and drums), podcasting, voiceovers, live streaming, and online gaming.
Durability: Dynamic microphones are known for their durability and robust build quality. They can withstand high sound pressure levels and are less sensitive to physical handling noise, making them suitable for live performances and studio recording alike.
Directionality: Many dynamic USB microphones have a cardioid polar pattern, which means they primarily capture sound from the front and reject sound from the sides and rear. This pattern helps isolate the sound source and reduce background noise, making them ideal for vocals and single-instrument recording.
Monitoring: Some dynamic USB microphones come with built-in headphone jacks for real-time monitoring. This feature allows you to hear your audio while recording without any noticeable latency, improving the overall recording experience.
Affordability: Dynamic USB microphones are often more affordable than their condenser microphone counterparts, making them an attractive option for beginners or those on a budget.
Pop Filters and Shock Mounts: To further improve recording quality, you can pair a dynamic USB microphone with accessories like pop filters (to reduce plosive sounds) and shock mounts (to reduce vibrations and handling noise).
Recording Software Compatibility: These microphones are usually compatible with a wide range of recording software applications, including popular choices like Audacity, GarageBand, Adobe Audition, and more.
Dynamic USB microphones are a popular choice for many recording and broadcasting enthusiasts due to their convenience, durability, and versatility. They provide a straightforward way to capture high-quality audio for various creative and professional endeavors.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have two questions: 1. would this microphone work well for recording audio books? 2. would it work w/ a macbook air laptop |
Answer: | Yes that should work well with your audiobooks. As for the Mac laptop I don’t see why not it offers clear recordings for what I use it for. |
Question: | I need something that is compatible with both a Mac and an iPhone/iPad. Will this work with either or both |
Answer: | This is an old question but has yet to be answered completely so here goes. Yes, this microphone will work through USB with the macOS, Windows OS, most versions of Linux (that I know of), and will work with iOS (iPhone/iPad) devices that can use Apple's camera connection kit (30-pin or Lightning ports) as well as newer ones that use USB-C |
Question: | How well does the microphone pick up a talking level voice from a short distance, say 2 feet |
Answer: | Unfortunately no. This Is a Dynamic mike and it is designed for the speaker to be a few inches away 1-4 at best. What you really need is a Boom mike. If the point is to have people listen to you need the correct mike. For what you want this mike is not for you. |
Question: | Would this microphone be a good fit for a multi host podcast? Each host having one of these mics |
Answer: | this is not a omni direction mic where you put it in the middle and you can record everyone, this is a direct to your mouth, pointed right at your face mic (to put it in simplest terms.) if you want a multi host mic where you can set it on the table and everyone can talk "at it" then look for the Yeti mic. . |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is a pop filter recommended |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | Are returns/refunds available for this microphone |
Answer: | This would need to be plugged into a microphone input....your computer likely doesn't have one built in. You can get a USB interface to plug this mic into, then USB into your computer. Or you could just get a USB microphone and a pair of headphones. This is an awesome package for it's price, but it will need to go into a mic input to work. |
Question: | It refuses to turn on with my macbook pro. i have changed cables and ports. the previous model has no problems. any ideas |
Answer: | You do not have to buy a recorder to use the mic and headphones. |
Question: | It keeps having this constant annoying audio humming noise in the background when I plug my handphones into the mic, or play it back |
Answer: | Depends on which audio-technica mic. These ZDM1 microphones sound great in the broadcast dynamic category. They can make a good run at something that sells for $400+. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you connect multiple mv7 mics to the same computer via usb |
Answer: | It’s maye a ruler and a half. If you purchase it make sure you apply the resin to the bow otherwise you will assume it doesn’t work 😂 my 4 year old loves it |
Question: | Has anyone used this mic with the rode psa1 microphone boom - mainly, is the mic heavy enough |
Answer: | It's very delicate, but it's a real violin. You could start with the Suzuki method and see if the 5 year old likes to play it. If so, you can decide to rent or buy a violin that fits the size of the child as she grows. The price is good as a starter instrument, and the pink color is adorable. |
Question: | Being that this is a condenser mic, how much background noise does it pick up |
Answer: | This is a small child size violin (3-5 years old). It can only be used with formal violin instruction by a violin teacher. The child can play the strings with the bow but it is not easy to play any tune without violin lessons. |
Question: | why is this using micro usb? does this company know about USB type C |
Answer: | This is a real violin perfect size for a 4-5 year old. My granddaughter like many girls, likes pink. She might take Suzuki lessons on it. |

The NT-USB is a highly versatile side-address microphone that is ideal for recording singing and musical performances in addition to spoken applications such as podcasting and voice-over. It is fully compatible with all mainstream recording applications on both Windows and Mac OS based computers, as well as the Apple iPad using Rode Rec, Garage Band, or any other recording app that accepts an external microphone. Use on the Apple iPad requires a suitable USB connection adaptor, such as the Apple Camera Connection Kit. The body of the NT-USB features a zero-latency stereo headphone monitoring (3.5mm) jack, which allows you to monitor the microphone input in real-time, along with dials to adjust the monitoring level and mix between the computer/iPad audio and the microphone input. A premium pop-filter is included, which fits onto the base of the mic, positioning the filter the ideal distance from the capsule to minimize plosives (hard 'B', 'T' or 'P' sounds that produce a harsh sound) during singing or speech. Also provided is a high-quality stand mount with industry standard 3/8" thread, desktop tripod stand that allows the NT-USB to sit at a comfortable height on a tabletop, and a pouch for storage of the microphone when not in use. Compatible with both Windows and Mac computers, as well as the Apple iPad via the USB camera connection kit (available directly from Apple) Gain setting: When the gain is set too high, the microphone will be too sensitive and can pick up room noise that can even be heard as a hiss. User questions & answers
Question: | Will this screw on to a microphone stand? or do I need to buy a shockmount? if so, which one |
Answer: | This should screw on to any standard mic stand. I purchased this folding mic boom arm with my Rode and it works with no problem. "NEEWER Microphone Suspension Boom Scissor Arm Stand" You shouldn't need a shock mount unless you want one. |
Question: | Is the rode compatible with Mixcraft? Also is there a delay when you are monitoring your mic input |
Answer: | In Windows 10 this becomes an audio input device and it has worked with several applications I use - Zoom, Camtasia, Techsmith Relay, Audacity, and a few others. I use it almost daily. |
Question: | Will Rode provide a warranty from this seller |
Answer: | We are a RODE USA authorized dealer, so if you buy from will get the RODE warranty. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this mic be used to sing vocals in Rock Band 4 on Xbox One |
Answer: | Rode NT-USB USB Microphone - more of a low-end voice over mic, a little more expensive, no issues, sounds very good (I use it for video narration). Probably not as good for Rock Band. I was very excited by the Audio-Technica AT2005USB as I like the "form factor" (much more like all of the normal handheld mic's we have, Shure SM58 type) and that it could also use an xlr cable. When I returned the mic, I was far from the only person experiencing issues with it on usb - perhaps there this issue has been resolved. As I said before, when it worked it sounded great. |
Question: | Does this work well for gaming chat? I use Mumble w/ voice activation. Blue Snowball picks up everything including mouse clicks. Would this be better |
Answer: | This mic is highly directional. Therefore it does not pick up as much extraneous sound (i.e. mouse clicks, fan noises, etc). The downside is that you must speak right into it. I work about five inches away form it and find it a bit quieter than my Blue Yeti. Sound quality is very good. |
Question: | Will this work good for podcasting |
Answer: | This is a GREAT mic for podcasting! Many of the top podcastors use and recommend the ATR 2100, but they all say that the AT 2005 looks better. You can just plug it into your computer and use free audio software to record your podcast episodes. It really is that simple to get great sounding audio. The construction is very solid. I have used mine in the heat and humidity of West Africa for almost a year now with no complaints. Mike Phillips, a very reputable expert on microphones, has some great things to say about this mic as well. It is a podcastors must have! |
Question: | Anyone happen to know the difference between this mic and the ATR |
Answer: | This is the big brother. I have both and they are hard to tell apart. The sound it reproduces is a slightly different field than ATR2100. Price would be the discerning factor in a buy, for me. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can an acoustic electric guitar be plugged directly into the 1/4" input for clean recording |
Answer: | The answer is yes but depends on the pre amps of your guitars pickup. Some electric guitars have better and more pickups then acoustic/electric guitars so they will need less gain from the recording device. I would say it would be fine for acoustic/ electric guitar if you have decent pickups. I would recommend recording acoustic guitar with the provided stereo microphone that are exceptionally good as they are made for the the zooms built in preamps. these microphones are condensor so they will be very precise in picking up the natural ambience and accoustic characteristics of your guitar. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Is phantom power available for the additional 2 channel XLR accessory |
Answer: | It is not. |
Question: | Will it create separate audio files from 2 shotgun mics and 2 lav mics so I can then create my own mix in Post? Does it all go into one file |
Answer: | The 4 XLR inputs create individual mono files from the mics attached. The attached mics, 2 at 90 degrees as shown in picture, create a single stereo file. All 5 of these files can be mixed using an audio package. I did this using 4 mics and the 90 degree onboard to record my nephews band playing a gig. I remixed the audio using those files and then laid that over the video track of same song. worked beautifully. |
Question: | Does the rotary gain control go to |
Answer: | Turn it up to 10 and rip the knob off!!! =11 |

Lyra’s internal self-adjusting shock mount minimizes contact noise, and its built-in sound diffuser and AKG’s proprietary Internal Element Overload Prevention automatically reduce noise, eliminate pops and improve signal levels.
Your Built-In Recording Engineer: AKG Adaptive Capsule Array
Whether you’re recording a podcast interview, a YouTube video voice-over, or your next Spotify single, Lyra’s innovative AKG Adaptive Capsule Array adapts to your performance to record pristine audio. Four versatile capture modes eliminate guesswork, so you can quickly dial in professional sound.
Front
Isolates your target source from distracting background noise by rejecting unwanted sounds at the microphone back and sides. It’s perfect for recording or live-streaming spoken word, vocals, or close-miked instruments.
Front & Back
Captures and blends together sound equally on all sides; ideal for face-to-face interviews and duets.
Tight Stereo

Wide Stereo
Captures audio with greater stereo separation, room ambience, and depth. This setting is ideal for situations where you want to capture sounds all around the mic, such as documentaries, field recordings, or spontaneous jam sessions.
Plug-and-Play Simplicity
With AKG Lyra, you’ll be up and running in no time, no matter your experience level. There’s no assembly, no need for a separate audio interface, no fiddling with software settings—it just works, right out of the box. User questions & answers
Question: | What's the diffrence between re320 and re |
Answer: | I am not sure. Maybe you can look on YouTube. |
Question: | Does it need phantom |
Answer: | No it does not require phantom power. |
Question: | Is this usa made |
Answer: | RE20's are all USA made - still. |
Question: | Does this mic use a usb |
Answer: | Do *not* get a DAC for this or any mic. It won't work for you. A DAC *only* converts a digital source to analog. You need to convert analog to digital as well. This means you need an *audio interface*, such as the RME Babyface on PC, or an Apogee Duo on a Mac, or a UAD Apollo Twin on either one. The Audient iD4 is a good budget interface and uses their famous mic pre; some people swear by the Scarlett series and the SSL2+. Research those and not a DAC except for listening passively to other people's music with headphones and your phone, or on speakers through your stereo/HT system. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If i get the xlr to usb for my computer, do i need anything else to record and mix? cables? software |
Answer: | Hi, you have to connect this unit to your receiver using 1/4" or XLR cable. Thank you. |
Question: | can it be attached to a video camera with a cable |
Answer: | The main thing is that his mic is high impedance like a guitar and should be used with instrument inputs with the included cable with th 1/4 phone plug. If you use a typical cable with x!r on both ends into a microphone input which is low impedance, you get a low hum/buzz depending on your digital interface or preamp. Will also work with a guitar amp unlike low impedance mic. |
Question: | What is the difference in this SM57-LC and the SM57? I can't seem to find what the LC is about |
Answer: | It is packaged with a XLR to 1/4 " cable. Most sound systems will need an XLR male to XLR female commonly referred to as an "XLR cable". The supplied cable can be used with USB/FireWire/Thunderbolt interfaces that have 1/4" inputs or a combo connector. So, yes if you are plugging it into an interface. |
Question: | How is it with recording vocals |
Answer: | It should work fine for her. It also comes with 15 ft. XLR-F to 1/4" male microphone cable. So you would need to hook into a 1/4" input for microphone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it work on ps |
Answer: | I will opt for dynamic microphones for choir church band |
Question: | Is there a link for the drivers |
Answer: | No, these microphones operate on the UHF wireless spectrum. For example, Shure H10 Band is 542-572 MHz, which is below the 2.4GHz band. Be sure to check on Shure Wireless Frequency Finder page to see which band works best in your geographical area. Here's the link. https://www.shure.com/en-US/support/tools/frequency-finder |
Question: | Does this product have a mute button |
Answer: | Do you mean a single channel wireless system? The BLX14/CVL? In either case, yes, you will be able to run both systems simultaneously. Each frequency band of the BLX can run numerous transmitters at the same time without interfering with each other. If you also happen to have the BLX14/CVL, you can also purchase the BLX288/PG58 in the same frequency band so that you can have back up transmitters/receivers in case any of them fail. |
Question: | Can I press the on board control to mute the mic |
Answer: | Shure wireless receivers provide both XLR and 1/4" output for each channel. For the case of the dual channel receiver, you will need 2 cables. |
