Answer:	No. It is silent. It has worked really well for our boys. They're 4 and 3, but we've been using it for around 2 years now. We do cover the red light with a shirt or something so it's a bit dimmer during the night.

It is not very bright, I use it in my kids room and it hardly counts as a night light. We have to use another night light to give enough ambient light so he doesn't bump into things if he wakes up in the dark.
