Answer:	There are two screws at the back that have to be unscrewed first. It is not a slip-off shade.

Question:	can I install a 36 watt LED bulb into this lamp
Answer:	Inside the lamp shade it states 40 W bulb, so look for an LED that’s its equivalent. The base weight is fine, it’s a lamp so for safety’s sake it should be positioned so it won’t be knocked over. It’s a great craft lamp.
Question:	Will a BR30 bulb fit
Answer:	Very uneducated response: The BR30 is for an E26 light socket, which is what this lamp has. The dimensions of a BR30 are 3.75" diameter at its widest, and 5.4" in length, including the socket. The lamp is designed to hold a standard A19 bulb, which is 2.735" at its widest, and 4-3/8" in length. The lamp shade is ~5" in diameter, so could you squeeze a BR30 in there? I suppose so, but I'd think you'd have trouble holding it to screw it in, and I don't think the shade would amplify the light from the bulb very well. More importantly, see various comments about how very top-heavy this lamp is. I'd think the larger bulb would make it even more so.

EASY OPERATION-

A simple tap of the power button located just above the gooseneck is all it takes to turn your Litespan on. A one-second tap is all you need. To dim the lamp, hold down on the power button while the lamp is on and it will start to run through its brightness gradient. When you get to the desired level, just let go.

Our Litespan lamps come equipped with an energy efficient LED bulb. It is built into the lamps head for sturdiness, so it can't be replaced, but with its 15-20 year lifespan, you won't need to replace it.

It has 12 watts, 2,000 lumens, and a cool white color temperature of 6,000k. Because of the built-in dimmer, the Litespan cannot be operated by external remotes, smart devices, or dimmers.
