The Kidde i12080 smoke alarm includes a safety light feature that provides 15 minutes of light when the alarm is sounding. It offers a tamper-resistant feature to deter vandalism or theft and a smart interconnect system that connects with up to 24 Kidde devices--including other smoke alarms plus carbon monoxide and heat alarms. The battery-backup feature (9-volt battery included) provides protection even during power outages, when many CO incidences occur. It has a large mounting base that helps protect surface paint from dirt and covers imperfections, and its pre-stripped wiring harness has an easy-off cap and tinned strands to increase conductivity.

By pressing the hush button, you can easily and safely silence nuisance alarms caused by non-emergency situations, such as overcooked dinners. This feature desensitizes the alarm for approximately seven minutes. During this time, the alarm chirps every 30 to 40 seconds. If the smoke is too dense, the hush feature is overridden and the alarm still sounds, and the alarm automatically resets at the end of the seven minutes. The Kidde i12080 smoke alarm uses ionization sensing technology, which generally detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Answer:	It may or may not. The issue is the cable impedance. This cable is RG58 is made to have an impedance of 50 or 52 ohms. I believe this specific cable is 52 ohms. You need to determine the impedance of the Direct TV coax. I don't have Direct TV, however my guess is that is 75 ohms if it is like other cable systems. I hasten to add, it may work, however you may suffer degradation and ghosting depending on the interconnect mode. My suggestion; get the cable spec from Direct TV and match it. Good Luck.

How to Silence

Press the test/silence button during an alarm state, and the alarm will enter silence mode for 9 minutes. During the silence mode, the red LED will flash once every 5 seconds. The alarm will enter normal mode after 9 minutes.

How to Test All Interconnected Smoke Alarms

Hold down the test/silence button on a smoke alarm. This alarm will beep continuously with the red LED flashing. After 5 seconds, all other interconnected alarms follow suit. Release to stop testing.

Answer:	From my experience this device only begins strobing once the main alarm goes off. It will always have a delay between the main alarm that actually does the smoke detecting and this strobing device which doesn’t do any smoke detecting on its own. By law I believe they need to be wired in. There might be other types of strobing alarms that actually do the smoke detecting themselves, but I don’t think these do from what I remember. If you are testing your alarm you need to let the smoke detector ring for a couple of seconds before the strobe goes off.
