The stove fan will begin to work around 60°C, the hotter the temperature of the stove the faster the fan blades will rotate. The stove fan has a working temperature between 60°C (140°F) and 300°C (572°F), if the temperature begins to exceed this, the safety device on the bottom of the fan will rise up and raise the front of the fan to protect it from high temperatures, the fan will automatically recover as the surface temperature decreases. We include a carrying handle so you can move the fan when needed. Always use gloves or tongs when the fan is hot. The stove fan costs nothing to run, simply stand it on top of your wood stove and watch it begin to disperse heat around the room! Question:	Will this work on a gas fireplace that looks like a wood stove
Answer:	It must make contact with the metal of the stove. The bottom of the fan is where the heat to power starts so unless the floor gets around 300 degrees it will not work on floor. I have an insert and it works on the top of it as long as there is enough room. So the key is the heat transfer from the stove metal to the fan bottom and then convert to electricity which drive the fan
Question:	I have a fieldstone fireplace and hearth. Will this work from the hearth; the mantle is 26 inches above the fireplace box

Question:	How do you control the fan speed
Answer:	This fan is heavy; I’m not sure I’d recommend it if going into drywall; unless you can find some heavy duty drywall anchors. We did not have a stud; but had attached wood car siding to our exterior wall that leads into our patio room and attached to that with wood screws and that worked fine as the wood is not going anywhere

Answer:	Fan will operate on a gas fire stove (wood stove look a like) providing the the surface where the fan is placed reaches a consistently high temperature. Being heat activated the type of heat source makes no difference. The higher the surface temperature where the fan is placed will determine the speed of the blades. I use 2 of these fans on a cast iron wood stove / they operate flawlessly, and help distribute the heat generated by the stove. Only maintenance on the fans is periodic dusting. Question:	can you really use this with a fireplace as the title in the ad states
Answer:	I use this fan on my fireplace insert, which has a metal shelf about 8-9" wide right above the door. The fan begins to spin at 120 degrees or so, and spins fast at 320 degrees. If your stove or metal surface isn't hot enough, it won't work well, but at a reasonable heat, it moves hot air enough that it is uncomfortable to stand in front of it for long. I love the fact that it's quiet, doesn't use electricity, and warms the room.

Answer:	No. it sits on your stove and the heat from the stove top generates the heat into the fan and then the blades turn.

Answer:	Runs with a Peltier Generator (it looks like a little white chip) which, in 2017 sell for around $20. The electric motor is just a regular low voltage D.C. motor sold at any craft shop for about $2.50.

Answer:	I have this fan. I can stop it no problem with one finger; it is extremely weak and once you touch it, it stops. There is no feeling of a powerful motor driving it.

Answer:	It should work as long as there is enough clearance to sit the fan on TOP of the stove so that the fan can blow the heat into the room. See the fan dimensions listed in the details. Note that this fan does not blow air with the force of an electric fan, but it works well... even when the electricity is out or where an electric fan cannot be used (like on top of a hot stove). It is worth it IMHO. I use it on top of my kerosene heater.

It is intended for use on a wood burner or a multi-burner oven or other heat source that burns a cool to hot fire between 110 C and 450 C (230 F and 842 F). Answer:	No the Steelhead Stove Fan does not come with the dust cover. It can be added as an optional accessory.

Answer:	I thought they had a 1yr warranty not 100% sure however I would box it up & send it back as defective!! I had mine 1 day realized it was junk & sent it back~ not worth the money.

Answer:	There is no adaptable light kit. The manufacturer makes the fan with light. The model number is F853L-BN/AMP.

Question:	does this have a light kit
Answer:	The Steelhead is rated up to 450 C (842 F). The seals will be compromised if it is run consistently above this temperature. If you run your stove at high temperatures, the engine will require more frequent lubrication. Please only use the supplied lubricant to avoid causing damage and only lubricate the displacer shaft. If your stove is in excess of 450 C (842 F), you can reduce thermal transfer by placing 3 individual spacers (eg stainless steel washers) in the form of a triangle, below the unit.
