9 best ge indoor plants
General Electric, commonly known as GE, is a multinational conglomerate with interests in various industries, including lighting solutions. They have a range of products related to indoor plants that are designed to support plant growth.
GE offers specific light bulbs that are tailored for indoor gardening. These bulbs are often known as "grow lights" or "plant lights." Here are some features and information you might find relevant:
Spectrum: GE indoor plant light bulbs are designed to emit a specific spectrum of light that is optimal for plant growth. This typically includes a higher proportion of blue and red light, which are crucial for photosynthesis.
Intensity: The intensity of light emitted by these bulbs is carefully calibrated to provide plants with the energy they need for healthy growth. This is especially important for plants that may not receive sufficient natural light.
Duration of Use: Depending on the specific type of plant and its light requirements, GE indoor plant bulbs may be recommended for use for a certain number of hours per day. This mimics natural daylight cycles.
Different Types of Bulbs: GE offers different types of plant lights, including fluorescent, LED, and high-intensity discharge (HID) bulbs. Each type has its own advantages and may be suitable for different types of plants and growth stages.
Fixture Compatibility: It's important to ensure that the GE plant light bulbs are compatible with the fixtures or lamps you have. Some bulbs may require specific types of fixtures for optimal performance.
Wattage and Size: These bulbs come in various wattages and sizes, allowing you to choose the one that fits your specific indoor gardening setup.
Energy Efficiency: GE, like many manufacturers, often designs its products with energy efficiency in mind. This can be an important consideration for those looking to minimize their environmental impact.
Longevity and Lifespan: The lifespan of GE plant light bulbs can vary depending on the type and model. Some bulbs may last for thousands of hours before needing replacement.
Remember to consult the specific product details and recommendations provided by GE to ensure that you are using their indoor plant bulbs in a way that optimizes plant health and growth. Additionally, consider factors such as the type of plants you're growing and their specific light requirements when selecting the appropriate GE plant light bulbs for your indoor garden.

User questions & answers
Question: | how far from the plants do the 24-inch/2ft and 48-inch/4ft fixtures have to be? and how far apart do other lights have to be |
Answer: | Hello, guillermo mac cullagh. For both of the 2ft. and 4ft. bulbs/fixtures, it is recommended to have the lighting about 12 inches above the plant. As for other lighting, it's recommended, when using the 2ft. it should be about 9 inches away and with the 4ft., about 18 inches away. Thank you. GE Lighting Customer Service |
Question: | Will this work for house plants? Which type of bulb would you recommend for house plants |
Answer: | Hello, Rachael. Technically, this particular bulb could be used, but we do recommend using item# 93101226 40-Watt Horticultural LED Grow Light, 24-Inch/2ft Fixture, Balanced Spectrum. Thank you. GE Lighting Customer Service |
Question: | Why does the the 4 ft light use less power have less light output than the 2 ft light? Would the 4ft light be as effective as 2 shorter (2ft) lights |
Answer: | GE Customer Service, Your first attempt at an answer doesn't make sense. Would you try answering this question again? Why does the the 4 ft light use less power have less light output than the 2 ft light? Would the 4 foot lights be as effective as two shorter 2 foot lights? Thanks. |
Question: | Ppfd (photosynthetic photon flux density) of this unit? ppfd and ppf are different. i don't see documentation providing fall-off at specified heights |
Answer: | you can find a calculator online for this the 24” fixture produces about 600 PPFD(UΜMOL/M2/S) if 50% of the light is reaching the plant |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this about the same bulb as the 35w 6000 kelvin bulbs on Amazon , for $10 dollars less |
Answer: | Hello neal hicks, No, this bulb is a grow bulb which means both the color and the light output is geared specifically for growing plants, and will not have the same color or style as the 6000k daylight Par38. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us at 1-800-435-4448 or [email protected]. -GE Lighting Internet Response Team |
Question: | Is there a clamp on fixture that works best for these |
Answer: | We're using the 5.5 inch one from Lowes. |
Question: | Has anybody found a good floor lamp that doesn't tip over with this bulb? I love the bulb but my lamp tips over |
Answer: | FadimiKoo Plug in Pendant Light... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCS2F9Y?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I hung these lights off of a ladder, which I hung from the ceiling. They are very heavy bulbs. |
Question: | what is the light beam angle |
Answer: | As GE replied the beam angle is 60 degrees, but there is a down side. The actual light bulb of this fixture is only 2" wide so the cast area is much smaller compared to many other similar grow lights which have a larger actual light bulb. Great fixture and better light (closer to sunlight than any other grow light bulb I have seen) but each bulb will max out at an 18" x 18" area. If you are just lighting one plant it is perfect but if you are trying to light a grow area, this is the downside. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it work underneath the plant with a floor spotlight? I have an 8ft fiddle leaf fig tree and wall lamp not an option to have it above the plant |
Answer: | I don't know whether plants favor down-light (as opposed to up-light), but these lights might be too much, too bright as you are considering their use. 'Might consider placing your light fixture(s) across the room for best effect. |
Question: | Do they produce any heat |
Answer: | Hello, Megan M.. Yes, these can produce some heat, even being LED. Nothing in comparison to incandescent bulbs, but that is why we have the recommended distance, marked on the packaging, in relation to this. Thank you. GE Lighting Customer Service |
Question: | For the BR30 bulb, what is the diameter of the spot of light it makes at 9 inches |
Answer: | Hello, C. Chiang. At 9 inches, it is safe to say, you will get about 12-15 inches diameter of light. Thank you. GE Lighting Customer Service |
Question: | Can I just put this bulb in any lamp? I have a small desk lamp I want to put this in |
Answer: | This will work great: Globe Electric 5698601 Heavy Base Architect Desk Lamp, 33.86-Inch. The reflector can be left off to allow a splitter or Par38 bulb. I prefer the single Par 38 bulb for the price point. These work great for seeds and seedlings. |
