Question:	NSF Certified
Answer:	The product is NSF 42 certified which means it handles asthetic properties of water (taste, color, etc). However, unlike GE filters this is not NSF 53 certified which means it is NOT certified to filter out harmful microbes, pesticides, herbicides, and other natural things one would find with wells or accidental contamination along the delivery path to your fridge. So yeah, it's cheaper but it's not certified for carbon filtration and the removal of these things. I guess you get what you pay for. I am now replacing my BEST for a genuine GE filter again :(
Question:	Is this filter both nsf 42 & 53 certified
Answer:	See my other comment. 42 is aesthetics (color, taste, etc...). 53 is carbon filtering that protects against harmful microbes, chemicals, pesticides, etc... This product is only 42 as I noted on the one I just received from Amazon in August 2016. To get the same certified effect of a GE MWF you'd need this BEST product plus another carbon filter like one of those ones you fill and put in the refrigerator.

Question:	Does this filter remove hormones
Answer:	The answer "ROES-50 system uses a high quality, .0001 micron Reverse Osmosis membrane and 3 carbon filters so it is designed to remove high levels of hormones and pharmaceutical drugs from water" is troublesome. Terms like "high quality" and "high levels" are arbitrary, and it's a safe bet people don't want arbitrary amounts of contaminants removed.
Question:	Hi apec, i see your offshore imitator is offering transparent 1st stage filter housings, why don't you offer one as well
Answer:	I bought the ROES-50 RO system in January 2016 and for the most part it has been great. Bought the pump to go with it as well as an auxiliary accumulator tank to use in addition to the smaller bladder tank that comes with the system so we can draw a couple of gallons of RO water at near full pressure at one go (set to 60 psi), and have the output plumbed to the sink faucet and two refrigerators with ice makers and water dispensers. I say all of this to say that I change the filters quite a bit and that it would be nice to be able to see the condition of the filters without having to shut off the supply from the house plumbing, and shut off both of the pressure tank valves as well as the system backfeed valve I installed just to get a look at the filters. I have a well and have two of the "dreaded" clear Whirlpool whole home water filter units, one at point of entry before the well bladder tank, and one after my water softener system and before my UV sterilizer, both of which have been in service for 18 years without issue. Everything is installed in my utility room on the wall for easy access, and I replace the O-rings in the filter housings about every third filter change and wash the housings out with a bleach solution, rinse them well and lubricate the O-rings with silicone grease when installing new filters every time I change a filter, and never ever tighten any of them tighter than hand tight unless there is a drip, but I can't recall there ever being one. I don't understand why people have filter housings break unless they are being over tightened, installed in a harsh environment exposed to the elements, or somewhere where they are subject to being hit with things and getting damaged physically, or in direct sunlight and subjected to UV radiation. Therefore I wish there was an option to purchase clear housings for the ROES-50 filters in order to make proper maintenance as easy as the rest of my system, because other than that, the only complaint I have with the ROES-50 is that the white bladder tank that came with it leaks air and I have to repressurize it about every six months. The larger blue auxiliary tank I bought has yet to need to be repressurized.

Answer:	The boxes do bear the proper hologram. They appear to be for Chinese market sale based on the QR code. Filter in the box is a Mann hu618 with a proper bmw part number stamped on the rim. Something like this wouldn’t be cost effective to counterfeit so I’m pretty sure it’s genuine.

Answer:	Everything that you see illustrated. There are two reservoirs, the filter and the hose. The only thing not included is the optional carbon filter which isn't neccessary. If you do opt to purchase the carbon filter, keep in mind that it slows down the filtration time drastically.

Question:	How do I know when the filter needs to be replaced
Answer:	I don't know the physical features of your system, but this filter is 9 9/16" long and has two silicone (looks like) seals on both ends which makes it 9 7/8" long. It is 2 3/4 in diameter and has a 1" hole for the water inlet (both ends). As far as lasting one year, that would depend on the condition of the water you are filtering. Mine are lasting about 2-3 months, but mine is well water.

Answer:	futong1005, for the APEC reverse osmosis system shown in Amazon as the first three stages of filtration, which I change out every 6 months, before the 4th and 5th stages, which I change out after following online APEC bleaching sanitation instructions, once a year. Per the instructions, the 5th stage is changed out after running bleach through the whole system with the first three stage filters and 4th stage removed and canister covers tightly in place, and old 5th stage fully in place until after the bleach and running sufficient water through to clear out the bleach. Then, change out the 5th stage, and install new 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th stages, and follow instructions to clear carbon from the new filters. Answer:	NO ! To remove chloramines (ammonia and chlorine) you need catalytic carbon filers (more expensive than activated carbon). Unfortunate since many municipalities, even whole states are now using chloramines due to less cost and somewhat improved stability over chlorine alone in terms of time between treatment and delivery to customer, but mostly it's cheaper for the water company.
