| Answer: | The gac and cto say to change them once every six months, the post carbon filter every year and the membrane every 2 years. Most manufacturers say to change your RO membrane once per year. I find the suggested replacement interval to be WAY too long on this unit for me. I am burning through RO membranes, so this time, I have decided to change to a different manufacturer. I also believe the gac and cto are going to need to be changed every 3 months. I think the reason I may be burning through membranes is because my tap water has a very high chlorine content, thus perhaps it is using up the pre carbon filters, and then chlorine is reaching the RO membrane which destroys it early. My tap water has a TDS of 370ppm. One thing is for sure, these filters are not "plug and play". They require constant maintenance and attention! |

| Answer: | The efficacy and longevity of any filtration element -- including the membrane -- is subjective according to your local water quality. It's possible that you got a defective membrane, but my personal experience with these is that it starts off with super low TDS when freshly installed, and then TDS gradually increases for a little while until it levels-off. If you're going to watch the numbers: always compare to your pre-filter readings, because you should be looking at the relative decrease in TDS and not the seeking same numbers as someone else using this product in a completely different location. I've had the same membrane (from this manufacturer) for almost 3 years now, and -- while it did start at 12 -- it's been holding at around 40 for a while, which is still 90% or more lower than straight out of the tap. |

Thereafter fluoride's molecules do not boil off during distillation. |

| Answer: | I did a lot of research on this topic and I can state that it is not necessary at all. I don’t know the system and the stages that the system has but it provably has a UV lamp or so, it would be useful if you are using well water os similar as it can have a lot of bacteria, otherwise it doesn’t make any sense. Your body needs minerals in the water to be healthy for you and experts says that is good to have a slightly alkaline water (ph ~8). A very filtered water would be nearly to destiled water what is not good for you in any case. I’m very happy with this system as it fulfills all the needs and expectations I had. I may say that the pump is a nice to have to improve the rejected ratio. I did a test and in my case with this system the values are 1:3 rejection, ph 8.1, EC 40us/cm, 22ppm really close to my previous mineral botteled water but a little bit more alkaline. | Answer: | A permeate pump does not increase the feed pressure at all. It decreases the back pressure against the membrane in Pressure tank systems, the pressure it applies is not consistent. However, For open water storage systems and for incoming water pressure over 60psi, it's a waste of money. In those types it doesn't do anything to drain ratio and production speed. The booster pump on the other hand is almost a mandatory accessory if your water pressure is below 50 PSI or drops below 50F. At these feed water conditions, the RO unit is very inefficient and will not perform well. The booster pump will increase the feed pressure for ro unit to 80 psi regardless of back pressure. It will dramatically lower the drain ratio and speed up the water production. |

We first installed the Big Blue when our town had annual water line flushes, which I think are Chlorine flushes and our normal process is chloramine although I may have the two reversed. My wife is a super smeller and she cant detect them either. The most noticeable change is actually when taking showers, and I didn't even realize the smell was that bad until suddenly it was gone. The WGB32BM whole house filtration system is the ideal "point of entry" filtration system for cleaning up well water. Unlike "point of use" systems (like reverse osmosis systems) that are installed to supply water to a specific faucet, the WGB32BM filters your water from the source. This means water from every output in your home will have passed through the three filtration stages of the WGB32BM. So what exactly do these three stages of filtration offer? Used as the first stage of defense on the system, the stage 1 housing holds a 5-micron high-capacity polypropylene sediment filter. This filter removes dirt and other various larger sized particles from the water that can clog the following filters. The second stage of the WGB32BM houses a 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block. Q: With this whole house system, do I still need to install a water softener if my water is very hard?
A: Yes, a water softener is needed if your source water has a high level of hardness, usually with TDS higher than 700 PPM. Hard water can reduce the lifespan of whole house water filter cartridges. The harder the water, the greater amount of scale buildup occurs, and the sooner the filters get clogged.
This whole house water filter can remove up to 95% of sediment, chlorine, rust, pesticides, herbicides, industrial solvents, VOCs, and various other contaminants that a regular water softener can't, although it does not soften your water. It is recommended that you install this WGB32B series whole house system after your water softener to achieve optimal performance if you have hard water.

So if your water line is typically at 60 psi, that is the pressure that your filter experiences when your water filter valve is closed. Remove the aerator if the faucet has one, and determine if your faucet has inner threads or outer threads.

Installation Step 1
Included with the package are a metal adapter with 2 male ends, a universal adapter and sealing washers.
Installation Step 2
Remove the aerator from the faucet it has one.
For faucets with external threads, place the sealing washer into the metal connector of the faucet filter and connect to the faucet. If your faucet has fewer threads, add the sealing washer from the metal adapter into the connector as well for a better seal.
For faucets with internal threads, use the metal adapter to connect the faucet filter to the faucet.
For faucets without aerators, attach the universal adapter to the outside of the faucet.

Unlike "point of use" systems (like reverse osmosis systems) that are installed to supply water to a specific faucet, the WGB22B filters your water from the source. This means water from every output in your home or business will have passed through the two filtration stages of the WGB22B. So what exactly do these two stages of filtration offer? Used as the first stage of defense on the system, the stage 1 housing holds a 5-micron high-capacity polypropylene sediment filter. This filter removes dirt and other various larger sized particles from the water that can clog the following filters. The second stage of the WGB22B houses a 5-micron CTO coconut shell carbon block filter. Block carbon is more effective than other forms of carbon in that it is finely ground up carbon packed into a solidified block. This means they have a higher density than other types of carbon filters, and are therefore more effective in removing their targeted contaminants. The carbon block filter knocks out bad tastes and odors, removes up to 99% of chlorine from the water, and is highly effective on organic chemicals (VOCs) like pesticides, herbicides, and industrial chemicals. The WGB22B is intended for lightly contaminated municipal water. If your water is highly chlorinated (to the point where you can smell, taste, and/or feel it), the WGB32B will be your best option as it has dual CTO carbon block filters to provide additional filtration measures. Alternatively if you are on a well water source, you will want to take a look at the WGB32BM, which has an iron and lead reducing filter - great for the plethora of heavy metals found in most well water sources. For standard municipal water that hasn't been heavily chlorinated however, the WGB22B is a great choice.
