| Answer: | I use a 1-3-5 year schedule and my filter works as well now as the day I installed it: * Every year I replace the first three stages or the large vertical filters @$30-$50 if purchased separately * Every three years I replace the fifth stage filter, horizontal filter on the top @$20-$30 if purchased separately * Every five years I replace the fourth stage reverse osmosis filter @$30-$40 if purchased separately You can usually get a discount and get all five stages for @$125-$135. If you try to save money and not replace your filters as scheduled, you will probably foul up the stages behind it even faster. For example, if you try to save money by not replacing the first three filter stages you will end up having to replace stages four and five way more often.
