Question:	Just received. It appears a lot of water bypasses the filter, can someone confirm this is not the case? Mine is just like customer uploaded photo
Answer:	Not a filter, a water treatment cartridge. Rated at 10gpm by the manufacture, a small amount of the water flow is diverted down into the cartridge through a single hole in the elevated tab, in the center of the tee. The polyphosate is slowly dissolved and a small amount of treated water flows back up and out 3 small holes around the elevated tab. According to the manufacture it only takes 2-3 parts per million to treat for scale. A little bit will do ya.
Question:	Does this help with water spots on glasses and scaling on bathroom fixtures
Answer:	We have a lot of calcium in our well water. The heat from the hot water tank is what causes the minerals to form scale. We placed this on the cold water side of the hot water tank and noticed a big improvement in water quality, especially on shower doors and dish washer. I have changed it twice now. The first time at 3 mos because the info says it can clean up existing scale in pipes and fixtures. The bottom line is if your water is very hard that will affect how much benefit you get from this product. So will you be happy with a 50% improvement in quality? I know I am cleaning faucet screens a lot less. Still have a jug of vinegar around though! Hope this helps.
Question:	GPM seems to low. I have 2 Tankless units, EACH one does 9 GPM
Answer:	we have an electric tank less that is rated at 4.5 GPM. We have very hard water in this part of MA and also have a well. We have been in this house for 30 years and have had problems with pipes rotting away. When we installed the electric tank less we installed this filter also. We used the heater for a few months and than had the plumber perform the maintenance suggested by the tank less mfg. It was clean as a whistle. Our flow rate is not as high as yours but if you had one in line with each heater - i would think it would work fine. Our heater used 120A for 4.5 GPM - if yours is electric it most use a lot of power! For our use I am very satisfied with the filter and given our water quality situation and how clean the heater was - i would highly recommend this filter.KR in MA

Answer:	In my opinion, if this is collecting any particles before getting into Tankless water heater, the particle should fall in vertical direction so filter should be installed in vertical direction. I installed my filter in vertical direction before cold water is getting in to the tankless. In order to get a right answer, it would be the manufacture because they are the one who designs the filter.

Question:	Has anyone tested the water before/after using filter? It says it removes odor and taste of chlorine, but does it actually significantly remove it
Answer:	I'm on a public well that will change white clothes dingy, smells of chlorine, tastes like a swimming pool, and if you let the water sit in a glass for 12+ hrs, you can see the sediments falling. Wife found this same one at Walmart on clearance so said why not. Since I installed, I've replaced the filter twice. Both times you can feel the weight of the junk in the old! I also emptied my Hot Water tank before I installed, build up of gunk, and just recently, clear! To answer your question, I had the water checked BEFORE and again a few months AFTER install to see if it was worth it. MAJOR IMPROVEMENT!!!!! Clothes are cleaner, hard water is gone, water stains are history and my Sweet Tea tastes 1,000× better! NOTE: 3 person house, bath and half, full kitchen with fridge dispenser, water tank also running through it and the "12 Month" filters can go upwards of 14-16 Months before you notice a small difference in pressure.
Question:	Does the filter contain any active ingredients, such as carbon, or is it simply a particle filter
Answer:	I've never opened one up, but it appears to use activated charcoal, but I can't swear to that since I haven't opened one up. We have some of the worst water ever and it takes it down to 230ppm of impurities tho I'm not sure what it is before it comes through the filter. I know it takes a good deal out of the water because I see a difference when I change the filter when the old one wears out (which is about 2 months here - it's supposed to last for six months, but I've never had one last that long; but again the water here is the worst I've seen and I've lived all over..)..

Answer:	The AP810 is just a sediment filter. It filters down to 5 microns and has a flow rate of 20gpm. For some reason the 810 has gone up igniiantly in price, but you can still buy generic sediment filters in bulk for about $8 each. The AP817 is a carbon filter that also filters sediment down to 25 microns and has a flow rate of 10gpm. It is designed to take chlorine out of the water, to remove odors, and to improve the taste of the water. So it depends on what you want to do. If you just want to remove sediment and are happy with the taste of your water, then the 810 will do the trick. If your water doesn’t have any sediment, but you want to remove the chlorine and improve the taste, then the 817 will be fine. If you have sediment and want to improve the taste, then you might want both. The 810 will remove finer sediment than the 817 and will extend the life of the 817. Its much cheaper to replace a generic 810 every month or two, than to replace an 817.

Then I tried simply turning off the entire main water and then ran the faucet in the nearby laundry room sink for a few seconds until the water stopped running and the pressure was relieved. It was then very easy to unscrew the cylinder that this water filter is in with the unique wrench. All along the problem was that the water pressure made it near impossible to unscrew the cylinder.
