Answer:	Looks like the little piece is plastic on mine (on the side inside the filter housing), but I also scraped at it and it freed up a little rectangular plastic piece that popped part way out, like a tray. Put the filter back in and now the light is correctly flashing green. Was about to call Pur.

Can the system reduce TDS?

To come straight to the point, TDS value isn’t directly related to water quality.

TDS stands for total dissolved solids. The higher the TDS is, the more impurities water contains. But what are impurities on earth? No matter beneficial natural minerals or harmful substances, they are all regarded as impurities in water.

As a result, water quality can’t be determined only by TDS value. It is just one of standards that reflect water condition and you can’t conclude that water with low TDS is definitely of good quality.

TDS has more influence on water taste, not overall water quality.

Can the product filter well water?

No. This system is designed for Municipal Tap Water. Answer:	Directly from Brita- This filter system reduces chlorine taste and odor, lead, and asbestos, harmful contaminants that can be found in tap water. It also removes 99.99% of cryptosporidium and giardia cysts when present in tap water. Finally, the multistage water filter features an extra layer to trap sediment. With this basic system, 1 Brita water filter can filter up to 94 gallons of tap water, replacing over 700 standard 16.9-ounce water bottles, cutting down on plastic waste.
Question:	The box was NOT sealed, and the filters were NOT sealed in plastic. Should I be concerned about tampering or whether this is an original
Answer:	I purchased 4 boxes of 3 each, and all the boxes are beat up and split. I know it was delivered by an Amazon truck, so I'm guessing they're old stock from the warehouse. These filters come packaged different ways, sometimes sealed on a card and sometimes unsealed in a box like this. A few years ago, I stocked up on a bunch packaged in boxes and unsealed like these, but it was newer white box, not this old blue design, which supports my theory that they're old stock. I don't like receiving questionable boxes, and Amazon should give explanation, but I feel pretty confident that although the boxes are old and beat up, the filters are OK and use them, but do what you feel right about. You can return them as defective / not as described, because you weren't told in the description that they would be beat up questionable boxes, and you have every reason to be concerned.

Before developing this faucet water filter, we have done much research and testing, and we found that the traditional faucet water filters has two defects, as noted below.

1. Did not work when the flow rate is more than 0.5GPM, such a low flow may be suitable for low water pressure countries, but it feels pretty inappropriate for American consumers.

2. Even if the flow rate lower than 0.5GPM , the capacity is still no more than 200 gallons.

Why's that? It is clear that the filter cartridge is too small, it means the filtering path is too short. If the flow rate exceed 0.5GPM, this will lead to the chemicals has no enough time to be adsorbed. In addition, because of the space limit, no matter how many stages it was designed, the filter cartridge could only be wedged 20-50 grams filtering material, so the service life is very short.

For the above-mentioned defects, our company adopts Japanese activated carbon nanofiber (ACF), non-woven fabric and wet molding process to achieve optimal design. It can eliminates Chlorine (99%), Lead (93.7%), bad tastes and odors within 0.1s, and the capacity could reach up to 1200 gallons (Based on 2.2GPM flow rate , 1PPM chlorine level). If your flow rate exceed 2.2GPM after the installation because of high water pressure, you don’t need to worry, I'm pretty sure it still works very well, because we have been tested it work at 3.5GPM flow rate.

Answer:	There are two ways of calculation cartridge's lifetime: one is treatment capacity (1200 gallons), the other is setting time (6 months), but the two ways has disadvantages, because the actual lifetime of all the filters depends on the user's water quality. If you want to get more accurate info, you can buy something inexpensive like residual chlorine test paper for your periodic testing, this way you will get a more accurate replacement time.
