Answer:	If your reel says freestanding then you don't need a base, unless you want to raise it off the ground to make reeling up a 100 foot hose easier on low back. It actually takes a couple minutes to reel up a long hose, and while bending down it is somewhat back straining.

Answer:	I am sorry, but I do not know. Mine has been in place for three years now and other than a little oxidation it looks fine

It has a couple of tiny surface rust spots near the screw holes (that would be easy to clean up) but other than that it still looks like the day I hung it. Answer:	We mounted this on a stucco over cement block wall. We drilled holes and screwed it in place. Probably brick would be similar but you might need to go to a home store and get masonry screws made especially for bricks or mortar. Maybe look at YouTube to see how to fasten things to brick. I'm very happy with my hose holder - it is solidly in place and looks nice.
