| Answer: | It’s essentially copper plated tin, so you could place it over mulch but that would probably reduce its useful life. I’d suggest placing it on top of pavers, bricks or pressure treated lumber. I also suggest drilling a few holes in the bottom for drainage as the troughs don’t come with them. |

| Answer: | Holding dirt is exactly what they are made for. Three hooks per planter is more than enough to hold that weight. It is very sturdy. Mayne has been making planter boxes for a very long time and these are the same planters that people permanently attach to their homes under their windows using different brackets . My only advice is that, depending on how your rails are, they can seem tipped away from the rail. The cure is to put a small block of wood or something else behind the bottom side of the box and the rail. Mayne provides info on this in the instructions that comes with their product. |
