Answer:	I purchased this for use on a bar stool so my granddaughter isn't so tempted to kneel while at the kitchen island. The bar stool legs measure 24 inches diagonally from leg to leg. On occasion when we need a taller chair at the dining room, we switch the Kaboost to one of our dining room chairs, which are quite sizable chairs. Those chairs, when measured diagonally across the legs are 29.5 inches, and it appears it would extend another 2 to 2/5 inches. If you pull it too far there is NOT a break or a stop, but the leg pulls apart and you can see the spring/cables inside. I would take care not to pull it to the max just in case! By the way, my daughter and son-in-law initially scoffed at this purchase, but soon realized it was a genius design that has worked really well. Once on the bar stool, it is more stable and less likely to tip if my granddaughter starts to move around and change positions. In addition, it is strong enough that when you don't want to remove it from the bar stool an adult can still sit on the stool if they don't mind the extra height. Hope this helps.

As for staying firm, I haven't used it enough to really know how it will hold up over time, but it's very firm & appears to be really well made.

Question:	How far do the screws go into the furniture
Answer:	These are very sturdy and have adhesive that sticks to the legs of the furniture. The adhesive is very strong and prevents the risers from coming off the legs. I put them on my couch to raise it for my robotic vacuum and they were able to support a very obese family member with no problem. If you’re putting them under just the head of the bed I’m sure they can support the bed but I don’t think they’d sit flat on the floor since only one side is raised. Just a thought.
