Second, there is a 1/2" high "step" from the bracket lip that fits under the item being supported and the horizontal surface of the bracket that is threaded. If you find a caster with a matching stem and with a ball or wheel diameter that does not catch on the shoulder of the "step", it may work. It seems to me that a wood block with a t-nut or metal threaded insert would be cheaper and much simpler. |

| Answer: | Hello...Here is my original comment: "I installed 4 of these levelers yesterday onto the bottom of a heavy teak cabinet & appreciate the couple of suggestions from others. I also share the complaint of there being no instructions whatsoever. Following a previously posted suggestion to first drill a 1/2" diameter hole, I would add to be sure to make the hole as deep as the screw is long (which is longer than the plated insert). I then used a 3/8" hex Allen-type wrench to smoothly & firmly screw the plated insert into the hole. (One reader suggested using a rubber mallet to pound it in, but I wasn't pleased with this result as the wood was then being smashed which I think this may compromise the stability of the leveler as the furniture piece is moved around.) The leveler can now be easily screwed into the insert." Then, another person posted this in response to my comments: "... the fitting requires a 10mm hex head, not 3/8". They are close but not exactly the same. Mine installed very easily using a 1/2" forstner bit to make the hole then using the 10mm hex head to install the threaded insert." So, first use a 1/2" drill bit for the hole. Then, use the 10mm hex head screw driver to screw the insert into the hole. That make sense? |

| Answer: | They can bear a LOT of weight. I think its 800 lbs in total. As long as the legs of the couch or the corners are wood, follow the directions for drilling a precise hole for each fitting. Make sure the hole is deep enough for the foot to fully screw in. Take the foot out of the fitting, hammer the fitting precisely to fit the hole you drilled, then screw in the foot. Measure carefully to place it in the center of the leg you are drilling. It only raises it one or one and a half inches. If you need more than that you'll need to cut some wood legs for your couch.
