Answer:	Different strips take different voltages. Longer lengths usually need 24v. Something to do with a given wattage at a higher voltage needs fewer amps (w = a * v) and amps determine wire gauge. But I'm not an EE :)

Answer:	I'm not sure you can program codes from your Z-Wave network. This does not require Z-Wave in any way to operate the electronic keypad portion (you can program up to 30 codes). The same applies to the physical key.

Answer:	Yes Works flawlesslyI use this with iris. Also if you go into MAGIC set up you will see the icon for the kwikset locks allowing proper configuration.
Question:	Will this function through voice with a google Home
Answer:	Z-wave is a "standard" in smart home devices and alone this lock cannot be accessed from a smart phone or Alexa. You need a secondary hub to be the link between this device and the internet and that hub needs to be "Z-Wave compatible" which means it can communicate with this lock and other smart home devices that use the Z-Wave protocol. I recommend Samsung Smartthings, that is what I use and I have had great success with it, but there are many options out there, some are free and some do have a monthly fee so make sure you do your research on what you want to pay for.
Question:	Can this item be installed on a exterior rod iron gate
Answer:	I would not think so. The Schlage key will not fit into a Kwikset lock. The pattern of ridges on the sides of the key are different between the 2.

It's been out for over a month and it still only supports one user, and is highly unstable.Worse the new app has pretty well left the V1 users in the lurch. Ask yourself, if this is how they treat the customers who funded them through kickstarter and enabled them to get rich in a $200 million buyout from Samsung, how are they going to treat you when V3 comes along?They may get their act together, but I'm beginning to have my doubts.
Question:	Does this hub have to connect directly to the router? If so, what are my options if no remaining outlets on my router
Answer:	No. It has to connect, via Ethernet, to your internal LAN. While it may connect directly to one of the Ethernet ports on your edge router, it need not. Since home routers typically have 1-4 LAN ports, they are quickly exhausted. If you have many non-wireless devices, you will need to add an Ethernet Switch (technically a multi-port bridge), plugged into one of the router's LAN ports. Compact, fanless, Ethernet switches come in 5-16 ports. You can have multiple Ethernet switches, which can be cascaded, or starred from the router. Although some switches can handle a loop topology, many inexpensive ones cannot.

Answer:	Yes, you can "manage" the passcodes (multiple) without a hassle. However, to do so remotely requires that you also have Apple TV in order to link your smart phone. Without Apple TV, you would have to be physically near the lock (8-12 ft). And don't forget that you have to download and link/sync the Kwikset app with Home Set on your iPhone. Setup for us required assistance from the very capable Kwickset customer support.

Answer:	Yes. We are currently using this lock to work with our iPhones. We have not attempted to use with Apple TV.

Answer:	There is no need to pair a Premis lock with your compatible Apple TV. As long as the lock is withinrange of the Apple TV which is logged into the same iCloud account as the enrolled Apple device,the lock can be remotely operated.

Question:	Do you have to disassemble the thing to change batteries
Answer:	Personally I've used the chip on 909s before. If you call kwikset they will say it will not work. There is no physical way to tell apart a 909 from a 910 motor unit. I asked. The difference is that the back cover on a 910 has the black screen for better transmittion from the chip to the controller. Not sure about the expansion of the codes, sorry.

Answer:	I have the 910 and I was up and running in 5 minutes (after lock install, of course). That said, I don'the know if it will work with/harm the lock but I have to believe it will be fine as this apparently works with 4 specific models which leads me to believe that these 4 locks are basically the same. I'very had no issues with it and it'seems been several weeks.

Make you you have your old key, new key, and the re-key tool on hand before proceeding.

Step1

Insert the Key that currently operates your lock, and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.

Step 2

A) Insert the SmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole.

B) Remove the SmartKey tool and the current key.

Step 3

A) Fully insert your new key into the lock and rotate it 180 degrees.

B) Rotate the new key 90 degrees back to the starting position, and remove it. Your lock is now re-keyed to your new key, and your old key will no longer operate the lock.

Question:	Is it possible to dissable the cylander (or have a locksmith do this by modification) - making it a keypad only entry system
Answer:	If you take the cover off there is a small screw that locks the black cover to the metal part. If you remove the screws, the black cover removes so you can replace the batteries without removing screws or the whole cover. With everything assemb;ed you just need to pull up on the black cover to remove. Yes, I do read the instructions. lol

Answer:	It may depend on the hub you use. I use a Wink hub and I just get date, time, and locked or unlocked. It does not distinguish the user / code.
Question:	Does this lock have auto-lock. In other words - if I enter my house and forget to lock the door behind myself - will it lock
Answer:	It randomly generates 2 separate numbers you press individually before entering your code as to evenly wear all numbers on pad.
Question:	When using Z-Wave and Smartthings, is there a function that allows me to see which codes were used to enter and at time what those codes were used
Answer:	I don't know why it shows up that way, but it does not work with my zwave device. We have ADT for security but they do not support this device. So basically it can only be used as a keypad lock. Kind of useless for me.

Insert the Key that currently operates your lock, and rotate it 90 degrees clockwise.

Answer:	The 99140-102 has the internals for the zwave connection and battery power. If the keypad side has it's own power source it seems plausible that the keypad would activate the lock still.
Question:	Can i "upgrade" my current kevo 2 with this? does it have connectors to plug into the exterior part of a kevo
Answer:	Kwikset model # 99140-102 is not compatible with Kevo products. SmartCode Z-Wave door locks are not connected via internet and are not Wi-Fi enabled devices. SmartCode locks are equipped with Wave technology.
Question:	Can I have multiple codes with this lock
Answer:	No. This lock doesn't come with a key pad. This just connects to your Z-Wave hub if you have one. So really it can only be controlled by your phone or computer.

Answer:	Yes. Press the Lock Button at the top of the key pad. All keys will light up.

Answer:	No. But honestly, I have had lots of problems with the lock since purchase. I don't trust it. Have changes the batteries mutliple times. It simply is not reliable. I wonder if I got a dud or if it is just a lousy product. If I could do it again, I'd just buy the non wifi one that I prviously had. It is reliable and cheaper.
Question:	What is battery life
Answer:	We installed my father's lock on December 26th - by January 1st, the lock was dead .. installed 4 more high quality batteries on January 1st and today (January 11th), battery status is down to 19% ... Just got off the phone with Kwikset and now they are telling me that if my father's router isn't on their list of compatible routers, all batteries will drain extremely fast ... would have been nice to have known that --- we bought this for my 93 year old father who lives alone ... not happy with Kwikset right now.

Question:	Will this product work with Vivint home security systems
Answer:	No it is a standard deadbolt lock interface on the outside there are no key pads or any other digital components on the outside of the lock. The only other way to unlock it from the outside without a key would be to a digital assistant or some type of in a smart app like wink or SmartThings. Remember that this lock requires a smart hub.
Question:	Will this work with Ring Alarm
Answer:	Yes, the cylinder can be removed or replaced. However, not a great idea because it runs on batteries and when the battery dies, you would essentially be locked out without an alternative entry method.
Question:	Do I need anything more than my echo to connect to this
Answer:	The Echo Plus uses the Zigbee protocol. This particular Kwikset 910 uses the Z-wave protocol, so it has a Z-Wave module installed in it and won't link directly to the Echo Plus hub. To be able to control your lock directly via the Echo Plus hub, you would need to instead purchase a Kwikset 910 that comes with a Zigbee module installed.
Question:	Can you touch to open it like the other smart lock.. if you are authorized

If you are outside the home you can either use the app on your phone to open it using the Z-Wave connection or the key, if you are inside the home you can use the manual turn or the app. Mine is connected to my security system so I can double-check that the front door is locked just by looking at my phone.
